I first saw Darko Taco a few weeks back, but had no cash. Today I finally found them for lunch. I was definitely impressed. I was sort of predisposed to liking Darko Taco. I love independent food, and I love street food especially. Regardless of my expectations, Darko stands out on its own. I tried three tacos, two lengua and one carnitas, washed down with a lime jarritos. The carnitas were good, but the tongue was great. Really tender. The tortillas are good, the cilantro and onions were fresh, and the hot sauce was delicious. $ 7 for three small tacos and a drink isn’t exactly cheap, but compared to other fast food options not at all unreasonable either. Plus, unlike at a fast food joint, with Darko you are getting real, good food. Do yourself a favor and check out Darko. And if you’re a little uneasy about the lengua, just believe me: it’s awesome.

Darko Taco is a menagerie of firsts: –First non-cookie-based food cart in Bloomington –First tacos that are actually half decent in Bloomington(or consider me wrong, read the positive reviews for Olive Market, and be duped). –First tacos I’ve ever eaten that I can honestly say needed more salt. Really. I don’t know how this is possible. Not bad for a taco truck. $ 5 gets you 3 tacos. You do the toppings. Today they had chicken, steak and pork tacos and quesadillas, coke and jarritos — so it looks like their choices might rotate. You can usually find them somewhere on Walnut in the afternoon and evening, but I’d check their twitter first: It sounds like if you’re having a party and you could drum up enough business, they’ll show up at your place and do the cooking. Word on the street is they’ll deliver too. Edit: After some sleuthing, we think these guys are from La Torre( ).

Darko Taco is a painted food truck that has been meandering around Bloomington. They serve tacos and burritos with 4 meat choices — chicken, steak, bean and tongue). Last time I saw corn on the cob was added to the menu as well as quesadillas… I think they are still experimenting with the menu. DIY toppings include lime, cilantro, onions, two types of salsa, cheese, and tomatoes. I’ve tried the chicken and steak tacos… I wasn’t a huge fan of the chicken but the steak was yum. The service was fast and the owner friendly… plus the tacos seemed very authentic(but I’m not the best person to ask about this). They park in different places daily but you can find their present location via a frequently updated twitter or facebook: My SO was a bit hesitant since some equate street food=dirty, but the owner prominently displays his positive health department and food safe certificates in the window. Plus you can see the kitchen from the order window and it is very clean. Tacos are 3/$ 5(tax included) and the huge burrito goes for around $ 5 also. Might be cash only, but I’m not sure. Nice quick place to grab lunch and enjoy the weather.
