Amazing service by bartender Danny. Extremely attentive. Never had to ask for a drink — it was there. Being new to Bloomington — new to IL — this could have been our all time fave place. But no … in walks the muscle head manager who knows everything. We were given a glass — $ 5, maybe, in value — for a night of business and future returns, for sure — but as I was putting it in my purse, he grabbed it out of my hands, saying«I’ll take that». We explained it was given to us, but his only response was, «No, I’m the manager. And if you want that, it’s $ 5.» Well, consider us done. As fellow brewery and pub hoppers, with sincere loyalty to places that treat us well, screw you. I don’t agree with the«customer is always right» mentality, but in a situation such as this, you lost far more than you gained. For a $ 5 glass.

My wife and I came here to watch a Blackhawks game.(yes we drove all the way from Champaign to Bloomington!) We had some potato skins for the appetizer and ordered the southwest chicken sandwich. Not too shabby and you get a ton of fries which could have easily been shared with more than 2 people. We don’t drink so I can’t comment on the alcohol selection. The best part of this place is the huge screens(projectors) and the atmosphere. Once the game started, they switched it on just about every screen in the house and turned up the audio. After an intense ending to the game, the Blackhawks pulled out the victory and the place went nuts. They blasted Chelsea’s Dagger and everyone sang along. The only issue that we had is that it was crazy hot in there. I’m not sure if they don’t have air conditioning or if it was just broken, but it was a bit toasty. They did try to bring out some fans but it didn’t help much.(maybe it’s just a way to get you to buy more drinks??) :) BTW, there is a parking garage about a block away which is free after 6pm. Fun place for a game and hope to visit again!

Went here for the Blackhawks game so we expected it to be busy with slow service. However, our waitress was very nice and came around multiple times to see if we were doing okay. The food was better than average pub food. The wait for the food was around 30 minutes so the waitress gave us a free pitcher even though we hadn’t complained. I like going to Pub ll but the food was better here and better service than Pub ll.

The bouncers at Elroy’s confiscated my ID because I am from Missouri. I had to call the police to get it back from them. However they let people with vertical IDs in all the time. Because I called the police to get it back I received terrible service for the entirety of the night.

Service was very nice but the kitchen was just making their job too hard … Soda lacked syrup … Burger was wrong …second burger missing toppings ., salad was wrong … Onion rings came out 30 minutes late … Fries burnt Manager did the right thing to make it all right, but the journey was so painful. Probably best to stick with the beers, hang with your buddies and watch some sports… Skip the kitchen

I was in town on travel and decided to check out Downtown Bloomington. Apparently I wasn’t told that the entire downtown closes on Monday evening. I found this place and since it was one of the few things opened figured I would grab a bite to eat. Ordered some friend bar food. Fried Mushrooms were good. Chicken Fingers were overcooked. I don’t know that I would return.

Fun, lively sports bar/restaurant. Good food, good service. Our only complaint was that the TV was SOOOOO loud. We were sitting near the speakers and could not even hear each other. But other than that, fun place.

I can only imagine that this is the spot on game days as there are huge tv’s everywhere. Food was good and inexpensive, I had the black and blue burger with onion rings. Great size, well dressed and tasty. The onion rings came out hot and crispy. Server wasn’t the best but she tried hard God bless her. Definitely worth a shot.

It’s never real crowded here during the week, even during the Stanley Cup playoffs, believe it or not. I have not ventured too far on the menu, but the wings are the best in town, and I’m always looking for good wings. Lots of big TVs make this a great place to watch a game and the staff is always attentive.

Update time! My girlfriend and her drunk friends dragged me to Elroy’s last Friday. We left Drifters –a place I don’t hate– and walked to Elroy’s, against my advice. I don’t know what they expected, because it was exactly what I told them it would be: jam packed, full of dudes spilling pitchers of beer everywhere and girls who think they’re way hotter than they are. Elroy’s is the epitome of a college dive bar. The dance floor is unusable due to the crowd and lack of space. In fact, the whole bar is unusable due to the lack of space. It took my girlfriend half an hour to get to and from the ladies’ room. Literally the only thing you can do is rub up against 300 sweaty people to get to the bar, order a shitty drink, and slam it. You don’t have the space to do anything else, and the music is too loud to converse. Elroy’s is the result of a crappy club and an uncharming dive bar having a deformed baby together and then trying to dress it up like a sports bar. It has none of the good qualities of the places it attempts to emulate, but a double-dose of the bad qualities. Its lecherous patrons –of both genders– are pretty much par for the course: college-age idiots who are broken inside and seem to think that poorly-made Jack and cokes are the glue that will hold them together. Elroy’s sucks, unless you’re a child who just discovered alcohol or a 23-year old who acts like a child who just discovered alcohol.

I stopped here on my way home, because i had a coupon for this place. It was pretty noisy in there, and seemed to be a typical sports bar. I got the wings & burger and fries. The wings were good, naked how i like them with a good hot sauce on it. The burger though was overcooked and charred on the outside. The fries were steak & shake teaser type which were ok. Would i go here again? well maybe in the afternoon when it might not be as noisy & loud. The food was ok, typical bar fare, but it hit the spot.

I was out in Blo-No with some of my girlfriends hopping around a few bars. Mind you, we are all college alumni out for a girls night. After a fun night, El Roys was our last stop for the final hour of the night. Correct if I am wrong, but I do believe they close at 2 am. Last call was at about 1:40 am so I hurried over and got my second drink there which was fairly large. We grabbed a table and sat down to finish up. 1:45 comes around and these guys charge the floor and start kicking everybody out. I asked what time they closed and he said 2:00 am. I politely replied that we just bought these drinks and were gonna finish them and I promised we would be out by then. We were by no means a bunch of drunk, slob kabobs in need of extra time to crawl out. The guy proceeded to grab my chair and physically tip me out of it… wtf?! I was fuming by then and chugging down my drink trying to at least get my money’s worth. This guy was right on top of us, hovering like a hawk inching us towards the door. Never in my life have I ever been treated like this at any bar. They had the bar emptied and locked well before 2 am. Seriously put a damper on my night, I will not be returning after that kind of treatment. Why the 2 star? Well after chugging down the drinks, I realized there was a great alcohol to soda ratio which does make me happy :)

I’ve stopped ordering the beer on tap here. They don’t have a great selection to begin with and what decent beer they do have comes out tasting vinegary. Food is okay. Usually served very quickly. Nothing special just typical bar food. I’ve only ever gone for lunch as this place turns into a festering pit of frat guys at night. If you are looking a lot of cheap beer, this is a good place to go. If you want good food, good beer and the ability to have a conversation, go elsewhere.

Decent drink specials and decent staff. I loved being up in the loft but the carpeting up there was so sticky that my shoes kept getting stuck to the floor. They had a great outdoor area too. Loved that they didn’t have a cover too!

Good drink specials. Food is very basic bar food. Menu needs a signature dish to make it stand out. Otherwise you have what they serve regular bar food for a regular bar.

Elroy’s is a pretty cool bar. Lots and lots of tvs, plenty of tables and seating around the bar. Prices are quite reasonable, the food is better than your average bar fare and the staff is attentive.

A «just fine» sports bar. Lots of TVs of varying size and image quality, lots of fried food that is generally tasty, if horrifically calorific, and a full bar. I could do with better draft beer selection, but for what it is, this place is fine. What is nice about Elroys, that might be overlooked is that it is a great place for groups: They are pretty flexible with their seating options, having many booths as well as tables of different heights that can be pushed together. Service has never been a problem in the half dozen or so visits I’ve eaten lunch here. There is a beer garden in the back, but I’ve never asked to sit there, as it is next to a dumpster that you can smell from all the way across the street.

This place has been around with the same name and location for a long time. They must be doing something right. I went there and was surprised how many big screen TVs they have installed since I have first stepped foot. It is a nice urban looking bar in an old part of Bloomington. Perhaps the best one i the stretch and is by the old courthouse. Police circle this bar alot no doubt looking to put people into the new court house. So be careful if you are lucky enough to find parking withen eye distance of the bar.
