I will start out by saying how much I LOVE THIS
PLACE!!! My husband and I just moved to bloomington in June for his work (no, not State Farm) and our new lot has no trees, in fact our neighborhood has no trees but that’s s separate issue. Growing grounds is here to save the day!
We started out by purchasing a two 10 foot trees, not cheap so to save money we planted the tress ourselves and it was a chore. After two weeks one of our trees started to loss it’s leaves and was looking ill. We called growing grounds for advice, not only did they do that, we talked to THE OWNER of the company. He told us he was working on a job out by our house so he would just stop by to take a look. Wow, we were blown away. I could understand if we spent a substantial amount of money there but we didn’t and we planted the tree ourselves.
The owner came he helped us with our tree, he gave us advice to pass on to our neighbors about her trees as well. Since we have been back to frowning grounds 4 more times purchasing an additional tree and some shrubs. We will continue to support such a wonderful company.

Best place for trees in the area! Knowledgeable, helpful staff! I needed fall color for an October wedding and Paul was great help. He and the owner made things work for me on short notice.

I watched the owner completely belittle a person on the show floor once. for that reason alone, I will NEVER spend a dime there. I don’t even care if they have a good selection. Respect and professionalism or an EXTREME lack there of, will turn me away from ANY business.

I LOVE this garden shop! Everything I buy from here is healthy and strong! For mother’s day every year I like to go to the garden shop, buy my flowers, plants and veggies and then spend the day getting them in the ground. I have gone to Growing Grounds for the past 4 years! I can’t say enough wonderful things about this business! We even get our Christmas trees from them every year, even though they are a little more expensive for them it is worth the money!

This is the best quality and selection in town. Great fruit trees and plants. Knowledgeable staff!

I’m not sure that I should be the first one to review Growing Grounds because I don’t have much experience with garden stores. Hopefully someone who does will write a review as well.
I received a gift certificate to this store from my Realtor after closing on my new home. It took me a year to finally get around to checking the place out. I decided that what was really missing in my life was a house plant to take care of and read next to. This is what I told the woman who cheerfully asked me if I needed any help. She took me on a tour of my options and left me to ponder. She made some helpful suggestions and it didn’t take long for me to choose the perfect house plant. His name is Gus.
Before leaving, she potted Gus and cleaned him all up. It was pretty cold out and she was worried about how Gus would handle the ride home, so she covered his leaves and wrapped the base in plastic so that my car wouldn’t get soiled.
Gus is loving my house. If I ever have a problem though, I know that I will be welcomed back to the store. The woman who helped me acknowledged «I know this is a significant investment, so please return if you have any questions.»
Overall, it seems to me like the people who work here know their stuff and are eager to help.
