I haven’t been to Hi-Tek in 3 years now only because I now live in ATL, and I have no idea if they are even still in business(they may have moved?) but if you are looking for a great salon and Hi-Tek still exists, please read my review: I was a patron of Hi-Tek for 6 years while in college. I have lived in several large cities since(Atlanta, Chicago, Nashville) and can honestly say that I have yet to find a better salon/stylist than Rebecca at Hi-Tek. Don’t let the slightly shabby décor fool you, their work rivals the best in the business. Initially I began going to Josh, Rebecca’s son, for cut and color, but his work can be slightly unpredictable in the area of color, so I switched to Rebecca who always gave me what I wanted. Josh does a fantastic job cutting, but I never got the same result twice from him in terms of color. Josh also used to cut my now husband’s hair and he was always happy with the end result. Josh is quirky and can get a little carried away with the styling products and flat irons(my husband was not a fan of the metro look) but if you tell him exactly what you want, he will produce and you won’t look like a Jersey Shore cast member unless you’re into that sort of thing. FYI Hi-Tek’s services are not cheap. Expect to spend 50+ for a cut and an additional 100+ for color if Rebecca does it(Josh’s prices are lower because he is not a «master stylist»). Because of this price tag, the clientele that frequents Hi-Tek is mostly fraternity and sorority kids, East Coast students, and older professional townies. This is not Great Clips and you will get superior services without the snobbery and attitude of other high-end places in town. If you have long hair, I especially recommend Rebecca(I believe she wrote and published a book on the subject). When I began seeing her, I had shoulder length hair and wanted to grow it out, but had trouble doing so in the past because of breakage. Rebecca introduced me to a régime that took my shoulder length hair from over-processed and dull to long, healthy and luxurious through various products, vitamins and techniques. And they DO push products because their products are AMAZING and will seriously transform the health and look of hair; they also do this because they DONOT accept gratuity… a practice that is in excellent taste and I personally think all salons should adopt. I love Hi-Tek so much that I drove up from Nashville, TN to have Rebecca cut and color my hair a few days prior to my wedding. That’s a 5 almost 6 hour drive through windy country roads in towns that resemble those in Deliverance folks. Worth every. single. second. I love Hi-Tek and you will too. Also worth mentioning: My mom and Grandma used to «plan girl’s weekends in Bloomington» aka have an excuse to get their hair cut/colored by Rebecca.

Got an ok haircut. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t crazy-good either. I’d recommended out back hair shack myself.

5 stars for the shampoo/haircut/style; 2 for the fact they push their products on you, and the place is a bit pretentious. It’s high glamour in the middle of Bloomington, Indiana. Sorostitute and those-missing-the-big-city-salon central.
