This Marsh location is not far from my apartment building, which is a huge plus for me. Granted, this location is fighting against other full-sized grocers within a mile radius. Those being Target, O’Malias, Kroger, Bloomingfoods, and Sahara Mart. I haven’t been to any of the other ones except the Target(by proxy of needing non-grocery stuff there), so I cannot compare. First off, this supermarket is open 24⁄7. That is an extreme convenience that hopefully I’ll never need to use, but it is there. Now for the food. The selection here is decent. It’s not complete, but you should be able to find most anything you need here. The produce has actually looked really good the few times I’ve been there. The only disappointment there is that I could not buy habenero peppers separately. Either I had to buy a large package(which I wouldn’t go through without some of it spoiling) or buy them pickled(which is what I ended up doing). I may go to another grocer the next time I need that item. In addition to that, they only have smallish portions of hummus(which was also on the more expensive end). I blast through hummus pretty easily, so this is a disappointment. As far as everything else, there isn’t much to complain about. The meat selections look good and are probably appropriately priced for the market right now(which sadly is increasing quickly). Other staples are decently priced as well. The key to this location though is timing. I have to figure it out(and maybe when I’m bored, I’ll spend time figuring out when their shipments come in). One day, there will be amazing deals. The next day, those deals are gone and the food is probably on the more costly end than I’d rather them be. Appearance — this is a very very clean grocery store. Something that I have lacked in my prior two years in Cincinnati. I am very grateful for its cleanliness. It also has a sensible layout and easy to get used to within a few visits. Staff — most of the time, it seems like they are one or two people understaffed at the registers, but since it isn’t super busy(at least when I’ve visited so far), it’s probably justified. They are pretty friendly. Other things to keep in mind — Do not shop without a Marsh card. It’ll save you a ton of money. For instance, a bag of cheese(8 oz) normally costs around 9.50, but with the Marsh card, it was around 5 dollars. That’s huge savings! That’s an extreme example, but you see how it’s a no-brainer to get a card. Second, this store gives back $.05 per reusable bag(a huge plus!) Third, if you prefer paper, Marsh has it here(which I know is being phased out of some stores around the country.) If I figure out the patterns of pricing, I’ll be sure to pass them along fellow Unilocalers!
