It is true that this father-son operation is capable of doing excellent work, and I have had several good experiences with them. Unfortunately their service and response record is spotty, at best. It seems that they are terrific, as long as they aren’t too busy, or don’t have something better going on. Communication seems to be a particular problem. Phone calls go unreturned and appointments are broken, usually without notice. That doesn’t work for me, as I manage a number of rental units where the tenants demand, and deserve, timely service. I was particularly disappointed by McGarry when I recommended them to some friends who needed appliance serviced. This was when I thought their lack of responsiveness was a fluke, not a pattern, and I still really liked the work they had done for me. Nothing worse than hearing back from friends that they were blown-off when they called for repairs. Soooo…McGarry’s can do excellent work, it’s true. But my experience with them over the past ten years has been spotty on their reliability and responsiveness… even though I feel like I’ve given them plenty of «second chances». If you call them up, be prepared to be patient.
