.the reviewer who claims that Indiana university has no ties to Meadowood is either ignorant or malicious. Meadowood was started by the Indiana university foundation. Today, Meadowood residents attend many Indiana University cultural events by bus or have music students perform at Meadowood. I could go on but shall leave it with the information that Meadowood does not have a «buy in»

I do not recommend Meadowood. First, their website and some advertisements refer to Indiana University to entice retirees to buy in. But, Indiana University has no association with Meadowood. Their claim is subtle but it is an obvious marketing strategy. Secondly, Meadowood is a for-profit business. A few for-profit businesses have a humanitarian goal; Meadowood is NOT one of them. If a senior resident encounters financial problems(due to heath emergency or other factor) that depletes the senior’s savings, Meadowood will kick them out of their home. That is inexcusable. There are other retirement communities, for-profit, public, and non-profit who create financial assets to help money-troubled residents; Meadowood is NOT one of them. The reality that they will kick a senior out is abhorrent. I called Meadowood to ask about this and the Meadowood representative said something to this effect: «Well, we are just like any other corporation. What do you expect?» I find this corporate philosophy to be abhorrent. I would never reside at Meadowood nor place any of my relative there. Someday perhaps they will realize that they have a responsibility to the senior population beyond making a profit.
