NTB – National Tire & Battery

I needed tires on a Sunday. I had a 1:30 appointment, and they had my car in by 1:40.
Jason and team took care of me and put 4 new tires on. Tires are great, wheels are balanced and alignment is good.
Professional team! I will be back again.

I’ve visited this NTB location on several occasions.
The service is decent (as far as non-​dealer hack-​shops go) and there usually never is a long wait.
I got tires put on my classic Volvo 740 in the fall of 2013 and the cheap tires they had were actually pretty good. I had a few issues with the tire service. Firstly I was told about a few things that I knew were wrong, as well as a few that absolutely weren’t. I realize it’s a tough economy and everybody’s out to make a buck, but I thought that auto shops were going away from trying to screw people over by selling them things that they don’t need. I was told that I had bad front-​end parts and wouldn’t be able to get an alignment. That’s funny because I (as a mechanic, myself) and at least 4 other shops I’ve had oil changes/​tire rotations/​etc (due to not being able to work on my car in my parking garage) didn’t notice anything wrong with my front-​end.
Then there was the fact that within 1 ½ months of having the tires replaced I lost two of my wheel covers (hub caps). After having owned the car for several years and having no issues with my wheel covers two of them «mysteriously», and almost comically, fall off while I’m driving shortly after NTB replaced my tires. On the upside my car had more of a «Family Truckster» look…
Then when I tried to remove one of the wheels it took a 2′ breaker bar with a 4′ cheater pipe to budge the lug nuts. The torque spec for the lug nuts on my Volvo was 58 lbs (which they supposedly «torqued» them to). I’m going to venture a guess that the torque value was closer to 158 lbs rather than 58.
Fast forward about a year to the end of February 2014. I had a flat on my car which I removed the tire and carried in to NTB.
I was given the runaround about the tire and was charged the same for a flat repair on my tire that I removed from the vehicle and carried in myself and had to mount back onto my vehicle as somebody that drove in and had to have somebody else do all of that work.
I don’t recommend this place, even if they have «specials» or «coupons» etc.
