It may be ok to shop, but major disorganization on the consignment part. I drove up from Decatur to consign and was told I could call whenever I would be up in Bloomington and they would check my balance. Their consignment receipt also states this. The one time I tried to do this I was told they could not tell me what I had made. I went ahead and scheduled a pickup of my clothes two weeks in advance. This is what they require if you are picking your items up. The day of the scheduled pickup I arrived at 3pm and nothing had been pulled. I ended up pulling most of my own clothes off the racks to speed things up. It turned what should have bee a quick 5 minute stop into a 40 minute problem. I won’t be back!

Drove by this place for over a year without going in. I knew it was there, I saw the sign, but never bothered. Then, I got so sick of seeing the same crap in each retail store that I was only«Meh» about. Why am I forcing myself to buy a freakin’ shirt? This crazy, I thought. There had to be a better option to at least buy«meh» stuff but for a fraction of the price. Enter — consignment. BTW, Penelope’s does not carry«meh». I could not decide what I wanted to buy because I had a budget and I wanted more than my budget could handle. Almost brand new Taryn Rose shoes??? Hello, heaven? I think I found you. The store is impeccable,. super clean, well organized. It makes looking for garments fun again.

My review could well be identical to Kelly’s. In fact it was hers that finally planted the«must go in» seed. I too had walked or driven by it for years without actually going inside. So glad I did today. It’s a two-room store, one with gently used and very well priced items, all much more vetted than at most second-hand stores. Think vintage or Crossroads, not Goodwill. The second room is all new and designer, which means more expensive but still deeply discounted. I found lots of great things to try on in both rooms. As Kelly said, the store is clean and well-organized. Dressing rooms are really nice and staff is super friendly. In the end I found 3 pieces, one new designer and two gently used and still high quality(Michael Kors, Dockers) to purchase, all for about $ 50. I’m never going to the mall again.

I will be honest, for years I drove by and never went in. When looking for a dress a few months ago, I went in. What a pleasant staff. Penelope’s is incredibly clean and well organized. I was able to find several things VERY quickly. There is a nice variety of high end, quality clothing. They have a new sign, and a new owner, both of which are very nice. This location has a private lot, which is a VERY rare thing in downtown.
