Man, I wish there was a place like this by me. Great variety on this menu. So much more than just a veggie burger. Delicious food, chill atmosphere, friendly service. They need to franchise this joint. A bit hard to find. .odd strip mall. .but worth it.

Pancakes were perfect. Biscuits and gravy, amazing! Potato hash was excellent — low oil/sodium. Definitely try some of the desserts(cookies, donuts). To top it off, the service was warm and welcoming.

As someone who is both vegan and GF, this place is my go-to spot for a treat. The only thing more lovely than the service is the food! It’s not your standard«vegan healthfood» –there’s not a lick of grass here. It’s all super processed, chilli-fries and lasagna ‘Murican fare, all the things that are so hard to find vegan and GF anywhere else. Also, their bread is bangin’, my freezer is always full. Their pizza is my favourite thing as are the buffalo tofu bites and skillet cookies. Their dougnuts are more of a cake doughnut that your traditional fried one, but still yummy nonetheless. Go visit and keep them in business so I have a place to eat, please!

This is such a charming place! I’ve only been here once so far & it was for dessert w/a friend who has celiac disease so she’d been wanting to try this place. We had no idea that everything was gluten free/vegan…cool! We each had a cupcake; mine was chocolate mint & it was delicious! If I hadn’t known it was gluten free/vegan, I don’t think I’d have guessed it & I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. This small business has a crappy location(a strip mall where lots of other businesses have closed), you’ve got to know they are there & even then, we had to be persistent because finding their driveway was a challenge. Super friendly ladies taking care of the customers & doing the cooking. Take note! They are only open Friday thru Sunday as I think it’s a struggle to stay in business, I hope this will work for them. As someone who enjoys trying different things, I look forward to going back & having lunch or dinner!

This place is awesome! I drove all the way from Decatur to eat here. I wasn’t disappointed. I had a kickass grilled cheese sandwich. I will definitely come back. Two awesome girls taking care of business!

We came back next day for breakfast. I had the«egg» sandwich, which had perfectly seasoned tofu, lettuce, tomato, and vegan cheese on a buttery biscuit. It came with a side of hash browns. My sister ordered the pancakes with a side of sausage. I want you to know that everything I stated was gluten free, vegan, and delicious. Tea was also served: green and mint. The only downside was that it was too early in the morning to grab one of their donuts. We’ll be back! :-)

Stumbled across this restaurant due to an Instagram picture and am so glad I did! The staff were quite friendly with explaining the philosophy behind the eatery and giving recommendations on their favorite treats! Left with several baked goods, and let me tell you, that banana chocolate chip doughnut did not make it out of my car – devoured in seconds!

I’m one of those people who must eat gluten free but doesn’t want to eat gluten free. I love baked goods, and I miss things like donuts, muffins, scones, pizza, cookies… you get the drift. While driving across country with our dog, my husband and I stopped in Bloomington. He said, «No chance of you finding anything gluten free here.» Luckily, there’s Unilocal, and it led us to Take A Bite. It has a big enough menu to have something of interest for most people, including(on the day we visited) three flavors of donuts to choose from. For dinner, I got the falafel sandwich, which came on homemade(warm!) flatbread. The falafel itself was a bit dry(and the only reason I’m not giving 5 stars). For my liking, I would have added more tomatoes, lettuce, and sauce. The flatbread was great, though. I mean, if you don’t have to eat GF, you might not like it. But to me, it was heavenly. The donuts, though. Even if you aren’t GF, you will like them! Just don’t get bogged down by the term, «donut.» These are more like a muffiny, cupcakey, sweet bread-type treat. I had a banana chocolate chip and a lemon poppyseed, and both were delicious. Great flavor, great consistency. And believe me, I do *not* say that about a lot of GF products. The two women working the night I was there were helpful and friendly. If I lived here, I would be a regular customer. And if I’m ever back in town, this is a «must stop» place.

So delicious! Great for vegans and non vegans alike! Very friendly staff :) I had the biscuits and gravy-I highly recommend it! My boyfriend had pancakes with blueberries and those were pretty spectacular as well! Bloomington is lucky to have a place like this-definitely worth checking out if you’re trying to live a more healthy lifestyle but don’t want to feel deprived!

Holy bananas this place is good! I ordered the BBQ«chicken» sandwich with the broccoli salad, my mom had the fiesta salad with chicken and my dad had the adult grilled cheese with vegetables. We also had chips with homemade salsa. Everyone was very happy. Everything was delicious! Since starting to eat vegetarian a few years ago I’ve missed some meat-centric dishes like bbq. No longer! My parents are not vegetarian and they were very happy, so take your meat eaters here too. Yum yum yum, I will be back!

I absolutely love this place! The french bread is my favorite gluten free bread. It’s soft and fluffy and full of flavor. I made the best thanksgiving stuffing I’ve ever made with this bread, and I plan to use it every year. We’ve had nearly everything on the menu and it’s all excellent.

This is a great vegan option in Bloomington-Normal. There wasn’t a lot on the menu that called to me, but the Buffalo wing tofu was very good. It came with raw carrots and celery(and ranch sauce), which helped to help cut the saltiness of the tofu. The lemon poppyseed doughnut(gluten-free, like everything in here) looked like a doughnut, but tasted like a muffin, so keep that in mind if you are really hankering for a doughnut. I’ll definitely come back to try more options when I’m back in Bloomington.

This is an amazing food oasis within the confines of Bloomington. We had the lasagna and black bean burger, which were phenomenal. Even non-vegans will find delectable bites on their menu on any given day. We have found our new favorite restaurant! We are definitely coming back for more.

This is a small little place that does not have a full scale kitchen so don’t expect a regular restaurant. They have a small daily menu with tasty items on it. I am gluten free and can’t have dairy or eggs so this place was perfect. The vegan Mac n cheese was a big hit with my kids and they love dairy. They had no idea there wasn’t real cheese in it. The cupcakes were amazing! Very moist and flavorful. We were just passing through town when I found this gluten free place on Unilocal.Glad we stopped. I would eat here again! Oh and they have a cute kids area in back for the kids to play. That is always a big plus when taking our 2 and 4 year old out to eat.

This place might make a vegetarian of me. Usually when I’ve had Vegan fare it was either lacking in ‘something’ to this carnivore’s pallet or really overdone. That is not the case at Take a Bite. I just had the pizza and it was really great and nothing in it seemed lacking. I had a great meal. You will too. Oddly a bit tricky to find:. Located in the plaza behind Verizon off of IAA Drive, but just a bit. GPS took me right there. There’s a sign for Take a Bite near the Verizon store. The food here is for everyone.

We stumbled upon Take A Bite on our way through Illinois after a business conference in Indianapolis. Thank goodness we found it. Mary, the owner, was friendly and welcoming. We were early for dinner so while she mixed a potato salad(so good we took some home) we chatted about the food, her family and her kids. She puts love into this food and started this place after having a strong desire to elevate the quality of food her young children were eating. She teaches kids and adults alike how to make healthy food yummy. And. It. Was. It was so YUMMY. Our family is mostly vegan and vegetarian but you could easily get a carnivore to enjoy a meal here. We had two of the three nights’ specials — BBQ Tofu with potato salad and a pesto pizza with sun dried tomatoes. DELICIOUS! You should know that she is the only one in the kitchen so she keeps the menu simple. Food wait was short and filled with good conversation(she’s good at multitasking!) Last thing to note which is important — EVERYTHINGISGLUTENFREE! so for anyone with gluten intolerance, this is the place to eat in peace. We aren’t gluten free but the flavors of the pizza crust, bread and pastries(STRAWBERRYLEMONADECUPCAKES!) were amazing and not at all lacking in the flavor department. My family and I highly suggest you pay Mary a visit and enjoy her food. She cares and you can tell when you eat her food. We’re taking a dozen cupcakes, and almost a dozen cookies with us for later.

The best homemade gluten free and vegan food. They have a Facebook page that lists their menu for the day. They are good about keeping it up to date with what they are out of etc. I have had a Mexican wrap that was so satisfying.(Mexican has been something I don’t eat often since going gluten free). They also have wonderful baked goods. They are allergy sensitive to everything so just make sure to let them know and they should be able to accommodate.
