We’ve been here plenty of times before but this time was extremely disappointed. I had eggs in a basket, which should be made with ‘dippy’ eggs. They came out and were scrambled. It didn’t taste bad but wasn’t right. My grandparents ordered a reuben but with turkey instead, it came out and was beef instead. They’ve always been able to get it with turkey. Definitely not the best experience we’ve had at Cracker Barrel.

I love Cracker Barrel. I see that other Unilocalers had bad experiences so perhaps I have lucked out and was always there at the right time? Services is good, food is good. I never had a bad meal here. It is always packed because it is a popular chain restaurant in the area, especially now that it is next to I-80. Even though the mall doesn’t bring enough traffic in, there is still a good crowd of people.

Tasty food, good service. The food was fairly standard home cookin’ fare, like biscuits, cornbread, meats, veggies, pies. Personally, we had the chicken fingers and country vegetable plate(along with a soda and coffee, and complimentary biscuits and cornbread), which came to $ 23 + tip. Our server was great — very efficient and quick with refills and providing the food. The only semi-disappointing piece was the country store. Usually there are a lot of interesting gift ideas, but it was a fairly small selection given that 1⁄3 — ¼ of the store was for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas items(in mid-August). But no complaints otherwise.

I just don’t understand. Lots of people love this place, but then people still like McDonald’s and Pizza Hut, so I guess numbers aren’t an indication of quality. I gave it 2 stars because I LOVE the front porch, the store, and the ambiance. I’m not complaining because the food is unhealthy(although it certainly is), but it just doesn’t taste good, which adds insult to injury. Bland. Greasy. Flavorless. Little texture. I got a grilled chicken salad, and the meat was way too salty and chewy, like it came out of a freezer and then was reheated in the microwave. The lettuce was mostly iceberg, contrasting with the fresh«spring mix» description. Flavorless. Watery. There wasn’t much variety to the salad. My husband got a breakfast. The hash casserole was gross and limp with no flavor and lots of grease. The gravy was so thick and salty. My kids did not finish half their food and they were not fans either. We all felt ill on our drive afterward from the grease and I was sad that I wasted my days calories. In fairness, I should add that we are healthy eaters in general and our bodies are not used to that level of grease.

Horrible service. Not only was I told that what I wanted could not be given to me, I was given the wrong meal two times. Our orders were getting mixed up with a different table– who were also waiting for their food longer than hours! Had to wait 20 minutes for our waitress to bring over some ketchup. Waitress only checked in once during the meal. Overall really bad experience and the meal wasn’t good(chicken tenderloin). I don’t recommend this at all.

Our family was one of a few tables. The place was completely slow and yet they took forever and they managed to bring out cold soup, burnt pancakes, cold eggs, and the list goes on. Truly disappointed.

Watched people walking up and get seated and served… and I was still waiting for food to come out. Servers just looked the other way! Party if one… very unhappy!

Stopped on our family vacation and everything about it was great. Brandy was really nice and kept our coffee cups always full. The food was delicious and we enjoyed not being rushed. Keep doing what you are doing!

Stopped in this morning and breakfast was great. Waitress very friendly and fast service. Only criticism from hubby was the grits. Too watery. Otherwise thumbs up.

My boyfriend and I often stop here on our way from NY to State College PA. The food is usually great, the atmosphere is always pleasant, and the staff is great. We’ve had one or two times that we have had issues with the food — the steak was cooked too much, forgot an item, etc, but usually the staff makes it up. The only«complaint» I have is that whenever we finish our meal, they always offer the check. I never get asked if I’d like coffee or dessert. I love the Berry Cobbler and if I ever was asked, I would always order it. But they never ask, so I just head to the store and get some Modjeskas — best candy ever!

Winding down a nice cross country trip, I pulled into this Cracker Barrel on 2÷1÷14. I always found Cracker Barrel to be one of those consistent breakfast chains worth a stop when a real place is not around. The poached eggs(and they ask if you want your poached eggs soft medium or hard) seemed microwaved or steamed in trays which were way overcooked. The over cooked scrambled eggs weren’t worth eating and requested as soft. The fairly bland and oily country fried steak also not worth eating. So I ask… has Cracker Barrel changed or is this just a bad one? The manager was very professional and comped the whole(uneaten) meal.

Good olé country cooking. I eat at a Cracker Barrel whenever I’m near one. I usually always get breakfast no matter what time of day it is. Uncle Herschel’s favorite is definitely my favorite. If I don’t get breakfast then it is usually the chicken and dumplings. Whenever I eat here it always remiss me of when I lived in Nashville.

Good comfort food at a reasonable price. The sides are heavy but delicious nonetheless. The last time I visited I tried the country fried steak. The gravy was heavy but that’s what it’s known for. I recommend the fried okra for one of the sides… delicious. Always a good time when I drive out to the Cracker Barrel.

Delicious breakfasts. We stopped here as we were fleeing Sandy in New York. Great gift shop too.

Not a fan in general but what made it worse was our waitress — she was very brusk and unfriendly. She was rude to dad which was not cool as he was just a bit confused as to what came on his salad– he didn’t want the dressing on it and she was quite put out by this. Also, my hubby has a nut allergy and when I tried explaining cross contamination she said I got it. So — not pleasant. The food was meh but the pricing was fair. The lemonade was yummy and the one bright note from our experience. To top it off the sweeping Olympics were going on with 3 different servers all sweeping around us hardcore, like it was their job — which it was — however it was not appetizing to have that happening during our meal not to mention extremely noisy. I could understand if they were closing but they were still open for another hour and 15 minutes as I asked if they were closing.

So, I was on a road trip with a friend who told me that every time she goes on a road trip she stops at Cracker Barrel. I told her that I had never gone to Cracker Barrel. She made it her mission to stop at Cracker Barrel for dinner. After first glancing at the menu, I was pleasantly surprised at the affordable prices, and my friend told me that even given the relatively cheap prices, the meal portion would fill me up. I decided to trust her, and I wasn’t disappointed. The portion sizes were healthy and I did, indeed, leave the restaurant satisfied. I really liked the option to choose my own vegetable sides(the fried apples make a delicious dessert without having to order dessert!) and the service was prompt and friendly. Cracker Barrel may not be gourmet dining, but there are few restaurants like it these days. For that, I give it a solid 4 stars.

Life is too short to eat at Cracker Barrel. They’re not even memorably awful. Just drab, greasy and flavorless, like the cheese they slather on most menu items. Lots of reheated frozen food in faux-rustic surroundings that smell like a cafeteria at an old folks home.

I have never been to a cracker barrel before, nor do I claim to enjoy southern style cuisine, but I did not enjoy my meal. The chicken and dumplings were tasty, but the sides were not. The corn was bland, the green beans had a strange seasoning that I couldn’t even eat and the cornbread was dry and not sweet. I will not be back.

We ate dinner there eight nights ago, en route back to NYC from Williamsport. As always at Cracker Barrels(or at least in our experience), the service was terrific. In fact, our server was *particularly* terrific and I told the manager she should give him a raise. :) Unfortunately my turkey dinner wasn’t too great; the turkey was lukewarm, and the cole slaw(which is normally really good at CB) tasted«off». I wasn’t very hungry, or else I would have sent back those items — but we were tired and just wanted to get back on the road. In all fairness, however, my husband’s trout dinner was very good.
