Top Notch. We were going to a wedding and were pointed in the direction of this lovely place. When you approach the entrance it’s just beautiful. The grounds, the whole nine yards are absolutely breat-taking. We walked in and were greeted by J.D., an retired Blue Angel Naval Avaitor. He welcomed us and shook our hands. We chatted about the trip and he offered to help us with our bags. We went to our room upstairs and loved everything about it. The room was welcoming with a beautiful, large bed and armoire, and comfy chair near the fireplace. There were 2 robes and a half bath in our Queen room along with a welcome folder should we wish to have any local food delivered. The dresser gave us ample space to store our belongings and the room had 2 large windows with seats to view the beautiful grounds. The downstairs was delightful. It had a billiard room with all of J.D.‘s Navy memorabilia adorning the walls. The dining room was something out of a better homes and gardens magazine with a large wooden table and hand-made chairs. There was a sitting room, a movie room as well as a room with a large table for banquets located in an inclosed porch. J.D. told us that he’s have out breakfast ready whenever we wanted it, so we gave him a time and he’d said he’d be ready. The next morning, we went downstairs and he greeted us with a warm smile and told us breakfast would be served shortly and that we should sit down and get comfortable. He brought us coffee and orange juiice as well as fresh fruit cut earlier in a parfait glass with yogurt and homemade granola. Next he brought fresh, warm sticky buns and banana bread. Finally he made us Belgian waffles-from scratch– with fresh raspberries and blueberries accompanied with warm, Vermont syrup. He served and cleared al the plates. We were absolutely blown away from the warmth and hospitality. To top this all off, the room was only $ 6 more than the nearby Holiday Inn Express! We highly recommend this outstanding B&B to anyone who wants to be treated like family and enjoy a relaxing and memorable stay.

We were taking a «blue highways» trip near Scranton PA. I found the Irondale on the internet and decided to take a chance. The amenities are fantastic. Located in the oldest house in Bloomsburg, built in 1836, the stone walls are more than a foot thick, and the rooms are tastefully decorated in 19th century mode without being fussy or frilly. J.D. Davis, the owner, provides his guests with thick towels and terry bathrobes, bottled water, and delicious breakfasts with fresh fruit and maple cured bacon(the real thing). Davis is a Navy man, and was a member of the elite Blue Angels flying group, so this B and B has the rare advantage of having something that appeals to men – pictures of planes and a car collection. There is also a gorgeous pool table, and my husband found himself playing pool with some of the other guests on a rainy day. He was in heaven! Whether you want a romantic getaway or you plan to have a family reunion, this might be the place for you. I will make every effort to return with friends and family in the future.
