Great food and great service! Big portions of everything at reasonable pricing. We came in a large group and everyone left stuffed and happy. They were even kind enough to break up the bills in five(sorry) directions. Will absolutely return if I’m in the area again.

So I’m visiting my childhood friend for a few days and she decided to bring me here to have some food. We sat at the Hibachi table and ordered some sushi rolls and hibachi food and water(I personally dislike the water from here –the city not the restaurant, it tastes kind of mossy). So here comes out the chef(Simon), he was so much fun. He put up a fabulous show for us and made some yummy food. I got the veggie hibachi with fried rice, can’t go wrong with that. It was tasty and the rice was just perfect. As Simon was making our food he was also providing saki shots, which I enjoyed very much(although my face and shirt got all wet, still fun). After he finished cooking for us, he pulled some magic tricks for the kids and they loved it. He was definitely great entertainment. Overall I enjoyed my experience and the food was not bad either. Note: If you’re not from the Bloomsburg area make sure to ask for bottled water as the water has a particular taste. Make sure to ask for Simon if you’re going to eat hibachi!

This is a great little spot in a strip mall. The food is excellent and the staff is very nice. I was traveling through the area and stopped in for some dinner, the owner saw I was alone and took the time to chat with me. In addition to this he gave me a free spicy crab salad which was very good.

Such a fun place to have habachi! From my knowledge, this is the only habachi place in town. This is also the best sushi in Bloomsburg. They have half price sushi all day on Sundays and everyday until 3:00. As a college student, this is the most fun place to eat. Habachi cooks are fun and get you involved! For some extra fun, make sure to get a saki bomb. Hibachi is a favorite hangover spot for Bloomsburg students on Saturday and Sunday mornings(probably would be considered afternoon to productive people). If you’re a family with young kids be aware of the loud atmosphere. If you planing on dining in or ordering out on a Sunday bring your patience! They can often be unorganized when they get busy and get very flustered. Their English isn’t the best and don’t always fully understand what you ordered over the phone, especially when the restaurant is packed. There has been serval times ordering takeout half price sushi on a Sunday and my order has been completely forgotten about and I’ve waited over an hour. Other than the slow pace and packed restaurant on Sunday I can say this place is my favorite spot to eat in Bloomsburg. Definitely very affordable, especially for a broke college kid!

I come here when I visit my brother and it’s always a good experience. Best time to come is during lunch for half off sushi and bent box deals.

I spent a summer living in Japan so I adore Japanese food. We have traveled hours to get to Japanese restaurants. I have yet to discover good noodles in the region. This attempt at Japanese is not a hit for me. The four times I have eaten here I have been disappointed in the quality of the food which is mediocre at best and the service has not been great. My son had a steak delivered over cooked and when we mentioned the problem the waitperson just shrugged and walked away doing nothing. I do not care for the sushi here. I tried the Bento and the grill to see if anything was better but nothing impressed me. We will continue to travel to find Japanese cuisine.

I visited this restaurant twice, the first time being shortly after its opening. Things have changed considerably in these few years. The sushi was presented without garnish. There was little taste to the rice. I ordered the most expensive roll on the menu. It was to be topped with edible gold flake. I not only cook Japanese food(real Japanese food. I have a miso fermented block of tofu that’s 3 months old), but I cook Indian food. Since many barfis(Indian dessert) are topped with flaked silver I have experience handling and purchasing it. Edible precious metal is not expensive. It is however spectacular in presentation. When the roll arrived it was not topped with gold, but rather jalapeño slices. I waited patiently, eating the rest of my food, for the waitress to bring my wife’s mixed drink, which contained too much alcohol, to voice my concerns. I explained I got a roll that was different from what I ordered to the waitress. She sent over the manager. The manager indicated that for 3 years and THOUSANDS of customers the roll was served differently than presented. I told her that I would eat and pay for what I ordered, even tipping 20% after the kerfluffle, and that the business should not be deceiving customers. She thought I should not have a problem with this because 1. The roll was ½ price(why do sushi places do this?) and 2. Thousands of other customers didn’t have a problem with this. I again indicated that she should let me eat and that there was a problem that should be addressed at a later date, for the good of the consumer, but she couldn’t wrap her head around this concept and began in again on why a menu three years out of date by her reckoning should remain the same. My wife was pissed, and so were the other customers. They weren’t upset that the customer was being deceived, but that their meals were being interrupted. I guess the quality of service, food, and drink is a good fit for this area. I have been assured that the menu will be updated by someone monitoring the Facebook page, so if you see a roll proclaiming to be covered in edible gold, be aware that this restaurant cares as much about you as it did me. Also, for all that is holy, just eat your bland sushi in silence and respect the yokels.

Coming from Chicago and facing disappointment after miserable disappointment here in(most of) Pennsylvania, I am EXTREMELYSHOCKED at the food here. Their half price Sushi on Sundays doesn’t taste half price, I always look forward to Sundays. some of the management staff seem a bit shady when it comes to serving portions at the Hibachi, but other than that, I haven’t had any bad experiences as far as the quality of the food is concerned.

It was suggested to me to try this place out because of their half off sushi on Sundays(I am a sushi fanatic!) It was a fairly mediocre experience. The sushi itself wasn’t bad, however. I ordered salmon, smoked salmon, white tuna, and eel, and the person who I was with ordered a Godzilla roll. We cleared our plates and contemplated getting more :) I generally live a low-carb lifestyle, however, and try and opt for sashimi when I can(just the raw fish, no rice). I asked one of the waitresses if I could possibly have the half-off sushi as sashimi instead, telling her that I didn’t want the rice, and she told me that I would have to pay full price for sashimi style dishes… I didn’t understand this. Why would I have to pay more for less food? I wasn’t rude about it, but that definitely disappointed me. I didn’t feel like debating with the waitress, but my dinner partner couldn’t make sense of it other. The portions of fish I got were extremely small, but that’s to be expected for half-off sushi I suppose. If I’m having a sushi craving on Sundays I may go back here, but otherwise this place didn’t leave a lasting impression on me.

We went there and got 3 orders of chicken teriyaki bento box for dinner which is around $ 19 each. The food accompaying the chicken is decent but the chicken isn’t. If you can imagine a wholesale bag of precooked chicken meat that is white in color, put one of those in a microwave to heat it, slice it into strips then put light amber sauce as an excuse for a teriyaki sauce. And there you go, an instant chicken teriyaki. That is what we got. Im just not sure if they boiled, steamed or microwaved the chicken but the chicken is paper white and about a centimeter thin, 4×3 inches in size. That was the worst chicken teriyaki i would bet, in the world. I’m posting a picture of it so you wont think im making it up. Service is okay. But still, if they have gall to serve that kind of food then i dont think they want our business anymore so that is the last time im giving them mine.

TL;DR at bottom. My first impression of this restaurant was good; however, after the service we received, my opinion changed. My party and I were placed in a back room where we could see some employees standing around gossiping. The woman, who seemed indifferent to serve us demanded that we give her our orders right away, and returned every few minutes after several times of telling her that we needed more time to look at the menu. After waiting for a while, she came over to the table and without a word put our food all in the center, without serving it to us directly. She never once came to our table to see how we were doing. At the end of our meal, she came over with the bill and stood there to see how much we would tip. She was hawking the table and was ready to swoop down at one false move. And there she went, pounced on my friend for giving a(deservingly) small tip. She stood there scrutinizing the amount of the tip compared to the bill total. The other party members felt obligated to give more money because she wouldn’t leave until we did. TL;DR — do not go here!

Sushi here is pretty decent though I’m not a sushi expert. Half price deal on weekday lunch time and all day Sunday is a great deal. Sometimes I don’t eat all day Sunday and workout really hard so I can pig out on sushi here. Enjoyed the fish roe, spicy girl roll, dragon roll, sweet potato roll, and spicy salmon rolls. All rolls were good but spicy salmon was a little bland. Sometimes there is too much of the eel sauce and it distracts from the flavor of the fish. Service is hit or miss. At times I’ve gotten prompt service and other times I’ve waited 10 minutes for a drink order. Atmosphere is nice. Very clean and very nice interior décor. Like the laser lights in the waterfall thing in the entrance. Have not had the hibachi but the chef present today was very good at entertaining the children in the party. He was singing«who let the dogs out,» which took me back. Standard chopsticks. Sturdy enough for eating sushi. Never had a set break. Plenty of parking.

Sushi, fish, hibachi Good food for me And you may like it But it matters where you sit Sometimes it’s so busy You sit at the hibachi Instead of a booth or a table Next to your friends, staring at someone else’s uncle Large portions and good yum yum sauce For a very good cost I will try it you may say Go when it’s Half off sushi(some) on Sunday.

Coming from LA, I was sure that Oliran would disappoint — and was pleasantly surprised. Great service, attentive waitstaff, healthy portions and affordability make this restaurant a surprising gem in Bloomsburg. The sushi wasn’t bad and even though I had dinner there last night, I feel like heading in that direction again this evening…

I would give a higher rating if the service wasn’t as terrible as it is. Being an Oliran frequent(I honest to goodness love the hibachi dinners) I am confident in my judgement of their wait staff. 8⁄10 times I get the wrong order after taking the extra time to make sure the waiter/tress got the correct items. Half of the time I visit, there is always some large issue in understanding that when you ask for something as an appetizer(and making sure to say«before the meal comes out») that means bring in out *before* your meal, not with your meal. When you’re not waiting long periods of time to be waited on(during any given weekday where you’re one out of 3 other customers) you’re being stared at from between the bars above the half walls, constantly having someone come over(I’m talking 5 – 7 times in less than 15 minutes) asking if you need more water(glasses just barely sipped from) or *if you need the check*(just started eating a moment ago). There seems to be a serious lack of communication between the staff. When I’m experiencing the above mentioned issues, it is always a *different waiter* during the same visit. I understand the«divide and conquer» idea the staff seems to have, but when you’re not communicating it comes off very sloppy and frustrating for the customer who has to repeat things more than twice. This is no hit on their food. This Japanese Steakhouse is a Bloomsburg wonder. But honestly, tipping well is getting very, very hard. And I love to tip. Step your service game up, Oliran!

Good Sushi with consistent quality, has some rolls that are better then others(Eel Avocado and Spicy Girl are very good, but I’ve found the Spicy Crabmeat and Spicy Salmon to be somewhat bland). The Hibachi is good but isn’t the cheapest depending on what you get, cooks are entertaining if you get it cooked at the table. Service is usually good. Location is nice with a decent amount of seating. Check for specials before you go, as you can get some really good prices depending on what they’re offering.

For the Bloomsburg area, I am impressed that we received a Sushi/Hibachi place without needing to travel to Wilkes-Barre. The wait staff is a hit or miss. The very last time my father didn’t get his meal for a long time — finally needed to ask someone else to check on it. Our own waiter never came to check on us. Loss points there. The hibachi table is very entertaining for those who would like to experience it. I always grab a table because I do not need the entertainment every time. Sushi is a hit or miss — some rolls are good, others are alright, and others need more flavor. I prefer this location more for its Hibachi which has always been consistently good. There is another Sushi restaurant on Main St that I would like to try and compare sometime. Large groups are welcomed. They have a full bar with seating at the bar as well. Very clean and a wide range of menu items to choose from. 4 stars — because I wish the sushi was slightly better. Never was sick from any sushi here but I need more sauce or flavor with some of the rolls. Great for kids and a family outing.

Not too fond of the Hibachi«show». But the quality of food, amounts and friendliness of the employees would be hard to top. Often go here for lunch with friends and we have never had a bad experience.
