Best dinner we’ve ever had! Even though we couldn’t enjoy the view because of the fog and the rain, it didn’t take away from the intimate atmosphere and the exquisite food. We enjoyed every meal! The staff was more than excellent. This is a definite recommendation.

At our annual(last annual T-weekend family gathering there) the recommended pork was stringy. When calling to see if we could push our 6pm reservation back, chef Hunter insisted that only 6pm would work and that they were at capacity that night. We were the first and only guests seated that evening, many tables unfilled and upon inquiry — no other large parties were due to take our place later. Even a 15 minute grace period would have helped us feel less stressed.

Without a doubt the finest dining experience ever in the High Country! My wife and I had our 30th wedding anniversary dinner here, and it exceeded every expectation — an outstanding wine list and excellent food. it was early September, which meant it was perfect weather to dine on the patio and enjoy the incredible views. Not only were our servers charming and efficient, but the chef came out to personally make sure everything was prepared to our liking — and it definitely was! The restaurant is small, but that’s part of the charm. Make sure to call in plenty of time to make a reservation, because it is worth it. You cannot go wrong in choosing to dine at the Gideon Ridge Inn, whether it’s a special occasion, or enjoying a glass of wine or one of their signature custom cocktails while enjoying one of the most spectacular views in the NC mountains. We’ll definitely be back!

Gideon Ridge has long been considered one of the best Blowing Rock restaurants. It is also known to be a bit pricey, so many locals consider it more of a «special occasion» type or restaurant than a regular haunt. My parents brought me here for a birthday dinner and my father and I both started with a farmers salad. The salad was fresh and tasty, but rather small on the plate. It was a rather small side salad and was $ 9. It was more of a side salad at an entrée salad price. For dinner, my mother and I shared two entrees. She ordered the sea scallops and I ordered the lamb shank. The lamb was fall off the bone tender and her sea scallops were prepared perfectly. The accompaniments for each dish were well-thought out and paired perfectly. I’m not sure what sauce came with her scallops, but it was fantastic as well. Each entrée was priced at $ 30, which I thought was reasonable given the quality of the food. The sea scallops were very large in size and very tender, but there were only three of them. With the servers recommendation, we ordered the banana’s foster for dessert and that was simply heavenly. If you go to dinner around sunset, you simply can not beat the mountain view. All in all, I would recommend Gideon’s Ridge as a great experience.

Great restaurant with a fabulous view. The Inn itself is extremely nice. If it’s warm enough get an outside table where you can look down into the mountains. Otherwise are inside tables to look out to the mountains as well which are lovely. We had the escargot and the chicken pâté for appetizers. Both were interesting variants on the theme. We had the steak and lamb shank for entrees. The lamb was truly outstanding. The steak was very good. The service was excellent. We even had dessert after finishing the wine. We didn’t want to leave! It’s expensive but worth it.

What a gem the restaurant at Gideon Ridge is! I found it via an Expedia review recounting a what sounded like a wonderful story and knew I had to experience this. Reservation was made. Someone called the next day to confirm, and we asked if they had a bar or patio for viewing the sunset, since driving by earlier that day we realized they had quite a spectacular view. They are not in the village of Blowing Rock, but are a few minutes up the road via car, near the entrance for The Blowing Rock. The inn itself is just lovely – quaint and pretty, all stone work and pretty landscaping, sweet innkeeper to greet you at the door. When we walked in for dinner, it became apparent after a couple of minutes that we were the only ones there. We asked about the patio and were seated out there by a gorgeous view that Chef Hunter later explained included a view of Grandfather Mountain. There’s a lawn area that would be wonderful, I’m sure, in the warmer months, with a view that is as good as they come in WNC. As great as the view and the décor are, the real star here is Hunter, the chef. It was like having a great friend who is really passionate about food cooking for us. He lit the fireplace before we got there, per the online request with the reservation. He not only did all the cooking; he was the wait staff too. He was such fun to talk to, full of fun stories and enthusiasm for what he does. When asked about a certain wine, his reply was, «Oh, it’s beautiful.» The food was outstanding, and Hunter was willing to change things a bit for our tastes. The presentation was absolutely gorgeous! Every single thing we had was fantastic. It was really a privilege to dine here. A wonderful and memorable experience. Stop in and have dinner sometime. It really doesn’t get any better. Great food and a fairy tale experience with this chef. Thank you, Hunter. I can’t wait to do it again. Oh, I forgot to add this! The prices are amazingly reasonable. This is not only very high quality dining – it’s very affordable. Applause.

Spent parent’s weekend at the inn. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The fireplace a welcome sight as the temperature dipped and the wind howled outside. Dinner was truly delicious from start to end. The highlight was the chef literally going to the cellar for us to offer options for a pairing with sorghum cake(which is now my new obsession) and which he was willing to share the recipe! Bonus. Will be back as often as our daughter will allow us to visit.

I liked the ambiance of the restaurant in an inn. It is all wood, stones, and fireplaces. If you come before dark you will have a wonderful view of the mountains as well. This restaurant is elegant as well as cozy. I had goose liver pâté and very much enjoyed it. The menu changes very often, so a listing of items wouldn’t be too helpful. However, the chef is well-known in the area and I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

Pleased to add another 5-star review to the group for this lovely B&B — it truly does deserve them. The innkeepers were both kind and welcoming, the ‘butler’s pantry’ was fully stocked with K-cups, coke products in cans, bottled water, and Harney & Sons tea bags, as well as both mugs and to-go cups. The library had lots of pretty volumes to leaf through — I spent a relaxing morning with the Rubiyat on the porch — and breakfast was just beautiful. We did not get the pleasure of dining in the restaurant for dinner, but we got in too late to do so. It smelled amazing! We stayed in the Carriage room, and the little touches really made the stay — a pair of plush robes to use, mountains of pristine towels, Ahava toiletries, a pair of cookies under a glass dome to welcome us, a bag of gourmet peanuts and a little glass jar of mini Hershey chocolate products. The bed was *very* firm — not uncomfortable, just unexpected, so be prepared for that if you stay in the Carriage room. Our room was at a «dead end» hallway, so we didn’t have to deal with nearly any foot traffic noise, despite the house being full. Breakfast was served 8:30 — 9:30 and involved making a dish choice off a daily menu of 3 – 4 choices — I opted for scrambled eggs with cheese, delectable little sausage patties, hearty wholegrain bread and some exemplary grits. My husband had delicious french toast with sausage patties and real maple syrup — both plates had a thoughtful orange slice to cleanse the palate. Orange, grapefruit and cranberry juice carafes were available, as well as Ethiopian Yergacheffe coffee in both regular and decaf. The views — be it from the expansive back porch, wandering the little gardens below, the terrace of the small restaurant, the benches alongside the tiny circular driveway — are everything they’re cracked up to be. The mountains really are beautiful. (If you tend towards being nibbly in the wee hours, be sure to swing by the Food Lion on your way into town, as the Inn is set quite a ways back from shopping — good 10 – 15 minutes — and aside from the little bag of peanuts in the room, there isn’t anything to eat until breakfast. More an issue of poor planning on our part, but I wanted to give everyone the heads up :)
