Been here a few times. Noticed the service has gone downhill. On our last visit, the waitress just disappeared. Nowhere to be found for literally 30 minutes. I have no idea why we waited. And then I felt like an idiot leaving a tip. The food is decent. Not bad, not great. Better place to get a beer, but not if you have a small bladder because there is only one toilet for each gender and you could be waiting for the bathroom for a long time. I have noticed the woman’s line takes a lot longer. Thanks to Unilocal,I recently discovered more restaurants in Blowing Rock. I’ll check them out next time.

I love this restaurant the food is always great. It’s not very pricey either and the staff are always nice and a good place to go if your in downtown Blowing Rock. There is outside seating and a bar to sit at. Their wings and burgers are the best things to get with the pub chips on the side. Great atmosphere for people of all ages !!

Good spot in Blowing Rock for pub fare and a relaxed atmosphere… and if you want to catch a game on TV, it ain’t too shabby, either. This is a place to come to when you can’t decide what to eat and you’re looking for something simple, yet satisfying.

Great food! We requested a special item and they were more than happy to accommodate our request. Justin and his staff go out of their way to give their customers a fun dining experience!

Honestly, we didn’t even get a chance to eat here since we stood in the doorway for several minutes and weren’t acknowleged. THe beer list was also pretty pitiful.

Hostess was very nice, got us a table and there we sit for 20 minutes without even a glance from a waitress. Left and went to Six Pence Pub

We ate here based on a local recommendation and we were not disappointed. The service and food was just fine and I would recommend it.

Just go to sit on the patio and enjoy a beer in Blowing Rock. Food was ok. Not anything to rave about but it was still good. Great thing is they’re dog friendly if you sit on the patio…

Nope. Skip this place. Unless the patio is open, there is no reason to stop here. The building and patio are very cool, so it’s a great place for a beer, but the food and service are absolutely terrible. We used to live in Boone for a long time, worked restaurants for a long time, are not picky folks, understand about«off» nights, are not«foodies», and are not high maintenance tourist types… Just looking for a burger, fries, and beer… and we still were still disappointed. Our sever(name? Long blonde hair with nose ring) acted like it was a chore to take our order and bring the food. She was snotty and never checked on us. We would like to have had another beer or two, but she never showed between the time she dropped our food and when she pre-bussed our plates. Whatever. We won’t be back. Food was not good at all… hollow fries, greasy bun.

Decent pub grub. We had the hillbilly nachos(fries covered in cheese &BBQ) and philly sandwich. Both solid choices. Good beer selection — I had a pumpkin ale with a delicious brown sugar & cinnamon rim. What makes this place though is the awesome(dog friendly) patio! It’s one of only a couple dog friendly spots in Blowing Rock. Handy when passing through on our way home from a weekend in Boone with the pup.

The best damn Cheesesteak Sandwich ive ever had in my entire life. Oh, and their homeade chips are great too. Service was quick for a game day. You gotta come try the Cheesesteak when you Blowong Rock. You wont be disappointed!

Skip this place. Loaded nachos were so soggy it was like a soup. Wings were on the menu as JUMBO but they were not and they were just ok. Sweet potato fries had no taste. BLT was about the only thing edible. Service was slow as well. 1 bathroom for each gender=LONG lines for the ladies.

This edition of Excited about Eating takes us to the Boone/Blowing Rock area in the mountains of North Carolina. Our second stop is Town Tavern in downtown Blowing Rock. It was a beautiful day, so we decided to sit outside. Dora here. Great choice! Restaurants with an outdoor patio score bonus points. :) For lunch I chose the Tavern Philly Cheesesteak served on a Milano roll with a huge amount of thinly sliced rib eye steak, American white cheese, peppers and onions and a side of Tater Tots. This sandwich was unique in that the components were all cooked together giving it great flavor, as opposed to cooking individual ingredients and layering. Not only was the sandwich great, the tater tots were just the way I like them. Crispy. Dora here. Burgers are my go to meal when we’re away from home, and I hadn’t had one all week. The Bacon & Cheddar burger satisfied my burger craving. Meaty and juicy, and the slightly toasted bun makes this meal a winner! Oh, and the creamy ranch dip for tater tots now replaces boring ketchup! We rate this restaurant 5 forks out of 5 for a family friendly restaurant that serves outstanding food. ~Ernie & Dora Hiers, Fiction Faith & Foodies Blog

This place was very crowed 2 nights ago so we had high expectations. We were very disappointed. The burger appeared to be a pre made frozen patty. The chicken tenders were what you could purchase from any restaurant wholesaler. The chicken taco were listed as a speciality and were ok but nothing special. They came with tortilla chips. Apparently I got the bottom of the bag. They were small pieces and many crumbs. Won’t return.

Great service. Had the fish. It was perfectly cooked. Crispy outside but melt in your mouth inside. Homemade tarter sauce and kettle chips. Best fish I can remember ever eating. Also the french onion soup was great. For two fish dinners, a bowl of soup, two glasses of wine, and two craft beers, with tip was still under 50 bucks. Went back for karaōke that evening had a great time!

Stopped here after zip lining with some friends. We ordered a round of beers which were delicious and ice cold! Totally hit the spot. We also ordered a few appetizers — chicken wings, buffalo shrimp, and nachos. The nachos were probably my least favorite item, but still pretty good. It was piled pretty high with lots of toppings — no issue with the dreaded naked chips at the end after eating the top layer. The buffalo shrimp were awesome. But my favorite was definitely the chicken wings. As someone who has lived in Buffalo, NY during my undergrad, I know good chicken wings! The wings at Town Tavern are the real deal. The sauce that we got was something sweet and spicy and had great flavor. I would highly recommend this place if you’re in the mood for some drinks and sharing appetizers with friends while you’re in the Blowing Rock area!

Mainly because of the band that was playing. Something ‘Bees’that was a plus. Not the place to have a meal. Small bites and finger food, beer, and a small hangout place. go for it!

Sports bar on the main drag, great comfort style food. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and the service was quick and good even though the place was packed. I had a spicy Bloody Mary and my bf did a Torched Pilsner from NC; we shared the Hillbilly Nachos w/BBQ brisket, I’d recommend any of them.

There are way better places to eat in Boone. No charm here; this could be AnyTown USA, so if you’re into that sort of thing, you might like it. If you’re looking for something special, go elsewhere. The food took forever to come(and it was all really basic). They were out of every beer we wanted to try. The waitress hadn’t tried any of the beers that were still available, so couldn’t really help out in that department. My sandwich was so overpowered with onions that the taste stuck with me for the rest of the day and night, no matter what I did. I’d skip it…
