I love the salmon! Always fresh and great recipes! Desserts and soups are very nice and freshly made! Owner works hard to make this food worth the stop!

They did a private buffet for a group of 40 of us. Great service and even better food! The veggies are fresh out of their garden, and their meatloaf was amazing. I had a couple guys in my party that said they didn’t do meatloaf, but they did 3 trips that day. OUTSTANDING!

I put the chicken salad sandwich in my top five. The homemade chips were great. The slice of apple pie was really good and also BIG; accompanied by a mound of creamy vanilla ice cream of the same size. One of the good places.

The food was just like moms. The proprietor was very accomodating to our large group. Highly recommended this restaurant.

Tasty food, not busy on a Monday during supper time. Waitress was very helpful for out of staters & it reminded me of a ma & pop shop. Over all good place

The food was decent but the place was dirty. The waitress was not overly friendly or helpful. We were overall disappointed in our lunch here. They definitely need to clean better and do some updates.

WOW! Excellent on 2 visits. Grilled cheese on sourdough the 1st time with fries. I didn’t even expect to like it or eat much, but I couldn’t stop. Fast service, quality food, great waitress… I think her name is Yvonne. Today(about 2 weeks after my first meal) I had tilapia with angel hair pasta substitued for the rice. I was given a plate of veggies(zucchini, onions, green peppers) which I promptly spooned over the pasta. There were mushrooms and tomatoes on the fish and a lemon wedge ~ plus fresh shaved parmesan. It was too good for words, and too much food! I brought half home and have reheated it for dinner ~ just as good as earlier. The same waitress, who is so pleasant and efficient. One of those hidden gems… I’ll be back!

Ok not sure why some people are hating on this place… Met a friend there who works in the area for lunch. Place was busy, but no wait. I had the Mediterranean chic salad and friend had the salmon salad. Both were super tasty. I thought the prices were reasonable given the food was so fresh. The dressings were very yummy. Service was on point. I guess not a 5 star only because I guess I wasn’t a fan of the atmosphere as much. But great food and will def come back for lunch.

A little pricey for my lunch salad — however, I loved it and will definitely be back to Through the Garden. The service was fast and friendly, my food was fresh and tasty, and I liked the clean, bustling ambiance. And everything on the menu sounded temptingly delicious. I had the cajun chicken and shrimp salad, with a side of the low-fat cucumber dressing. I love when crisp, cold salads have fresh cooked, hot protein topping them, and this salad was a perfect example. The shrimp and chicken were fresh and piping hot, practically sizzling on the bed of cold greens, and I loved the creamy cucumber dressing — it reminded me of tzatziki sauce. Salad plus tip(water to drink) set me back $ 15, again a little pricey for a lunch salad, but I would definitely return for it again.

Was in the area for business and decided to check this place out. My coworker and I both tried the stir fry and it was delicious. It came with a salad or soup + rolls, so lots of food for the price. The waitress was very attentive and friendly, especially since the table behind us had an incredibly hateful woman at it who kept biting her head off for no reason. Good experience, would recommend.

Wonderful place to grab a quick dinner or lunch. I enjoyed salmon primavera with a house salad and garlic bread. The entrée was very good though I like to have parmesan at the table instead of a light dusting on the dish. My girlfriend had the pot roast and found it quite delicious as well. My only real hang up was the prices but those are about what I would expect at a nice little hometown grill and bar. Will definitely return to try the scallops and steak.

I’ve been here a couple times and have enjoyed most of the food. I’ve had the chicken quesadilla and the Mediterranean plate. The Mediterranean plate could use some work. The olives aren’t unique and tasted like they came out of a jar. There was a sweet taste to either the olive oil or something else that set the plate off. The feta was good. The quesadilla is very cheesy. The chicken is good which is used on a lot of their plates. There are a lot of herbs used in the quesadilla. Be sure to check you teeth for leave behind herbs! I would like it if the staff was a bit nicer. I get the same waitress every time and she isn’t that pleasant. I went there earlier in the week and she forgot about our table. It was during the lunch rush but she had passed our table several times to get to the kitchen. Once she did realize she needed to take our order she didn’t apologize for keeping us waiting. When she boxed up my food I found it all mashed together in a small box. I ended up throwing it out.

I went there for the first time with a co-worker for lunch. Basic diner atmosphere. We were served promptly and I chose the Cajun Chicken and Shrimp Salad(minus the shrimp due to allergies). The salad was fresh and delicious. I jokingly told my lunch pal that I wanted to bathe in the salad it was so good. I’ve always said, if a restaurant serves quality food with fresh ingredients people will come. Eager to try other menu items to see if the quality is the same.

Inconsistent but always good. You won’t find better entrée salads. We often carry them out for a movie night at home. Their baked goat cheese entrée is also a favorite. Dining in, the table service is always pleasant but not always professional– e.g. soup, salads, appetizers and entrees all arrived within 5 minutes of each other the last time we were there. It seems they turn over the staff quite a bit so the food and service varies from time to time, but it’s always good.

My SO and myself love a quiet, middle agey feeling restaurant. Throw in a talented, quietly singing guitar guy and we’re happy. We were seated immediately on a Friday evening 8ish, starving after a long day with little food. The lemon martini I deserved was the best I’ve had, strong, lemony, just right. I relished it as we perused the minimal menu. I ordered blackened fish, the variety escapes me, I’m blaming the above mentioned martini. It was delicious, moist, seasoned well, accompanied by sweet potato fries I would go back for. My SO had pot roast and nicely browned grilled potatoes. We both had the house salad which was halfway between the best and worst house salads served locally. My SO’s sweet tooth got the best of him after he spotted another patron being served apple pie ala mode. The taste I had was good, Granny Smith apples, sliced extremely thin, packed into a good crust with a yummy streusel topping. Overall our server was good, the bartender great, the guitar guy singing all the right songs, was wonderful. A good time was had. We’ll be back even though we felt the prices were a little high.

My husband took me here for a friday lunch date. It was really nice. The staff is very knowledgeable and they are very nice. They looked a little short staffed. It was VERY busy when we went in so it did take right about an hour for lunch. All of our food was very fresh and it seemed that they had made my dressing, Fresh Basil! Yum! Not many vegetarian options and almost everything is loaded with meat and/or cheese.

I came here on a Saturday night with 4 friends for trivia. First of all, this is a place for groups of 2 or 4, not really 5 or more. But they did their best to set us up. Our service was horrible, however, it was one 16 year old girl who seemed to have every table in the restaurant AND the patio! She was working very had and was very overwhelmed. I don’t blame her for the service, but it was horrible. The food was good. We had the goat cheese dip appetizer. It was actually delicious! It came with big thick slices of garlic bread for dipping. The tangy tomato sauce with the cheese was great. Most of us got a burger, and they were all very good. Fries were fine, but not worth the extra .99. My wife loved the roasted potato salad(comes with the burger)! I saw other tables order pasta dishes, an they looked awesome. So, go here when they have adequate staff or are not busy, and I bet you’ll love it. One more bone to pick: several draft beer options and not ONE was a local brew… This seems unconscionable to me in 2013 in Cincinnati, given the number of awesome micro-brews we have!

I went here for lunch recently since I was meeting a friend and she highly recommended it. It was extremely busy! But we didn’t have to wait too long for a table. They have an outdoor patio area in addition to the seating inside. I ordered the same thing both times — the Garden Grilled Chicken and Spinach Salad. I really enjoyed it. Lots of fresh spinach plus red onion, bacon, mushrooms, and tomatoes with a nice cider vinaigrette. Would go again and try something different — maybe — since I really liked the salad!

My husband suggested coming here for dinner since his job is close to this restaurant. A sign read that they have the best salmon, so I wanted to try it(special for the day: Basil Salmon). The flavor was great but couldn’t taste the basil that was advertised. My only con is that the pino noir tasted really bad. It tasted old. I would still come back here and try something else.

Through the Garden has been around for years and for some reason I’ve just never eaten there before. I’ve really wanted to try it, since it’s so close to home. They also have a patio area, which is nice since most restaurants keep the temperature inside too cold when it’s hot out. Walking through the dining room to the patio out back should have been a tip off, since the interior was pretty worn and dated right down to it’s parquet flooring. I thought the back patio area was nice, as it is bordered by sunflowers and pampas grass, shielding you, for the most part, from the adjacent train tracks. The menu covers a variety of types of dishes and does include some vegetarian options. I chose the pasta primavera, which comes with a choice of side salad and garlic bread. The BF chose the NY Strip, a baked potato and garlic bread. The BF ordered a beer and I got a soda. The soda was flat, so I asked for water with lemon instead. I wondered if they were digging a well, because it took so long for my water to come out… and they’d not brought the lemon, so I had to ask for it again. I had chosen the house salad with my meal, it has a lettuce mixture, pine nuts, dried cranberries and blue cheese with a balsamic vinaigrette. My mistake in not ordering the dressing on the side, but their mistake in drowning the salad in a sea of dressing. The salad was served with dinner rolls that distinctly reminded me of brown and serve rolls. Sad to say those rolls turned out to be the best part of the meal. The entrees came out. The BF’s steak was not the medium rare he ordered it, but pretty much on the very well done side. They offered to remake it, but since I had my food and pasta doesn’t stay warm, he declined and decided to eat it. It had already taken long enough for the food to come out(the restaurant was not even half full.) The pasta(the dish was light on pasta and heavy on veggies… which was fine) had zucchini, tomatoes, snow peas, broccoli, carrots and mushrooms. Apparently the restaurant grows a lot of the veggies they use. I ordered the pasta with the olive oil and herb sauce… again, they were very heavy handed as the dish was swimming in it. We sat there for a while before they asked if we were finished. When the server brought out the check, she said they took $ 10 off because of the overcooked steak(which cost $ 19.99). They also had left the soda on, so I had to ask for them to take that off too. Even though the BF ate the steak, any decent restaurant would’ve comped his meal due to their error in cooking it. Based on how long it took to get it the first time, who would really want to wait for a second one to come out. Also, they didn’t clear the salad plate after I was obviously finished with it, in fact, it was still there when we left. Another thing, they don’t take Discover… really? In this day and age? This was a sadly disappointing experience, as I’ve had both better food and service at a fast food joint.
