YUM! That just about covers it! I had a corned beef open faced sandwich. First of all, it was HUGE. Secondly, it was fantastic. I love Phil’s food. The portions are always generous, and I truly have never had a bad meal there. It’s a comfortable environment, if a little loud. The only thing I wish they would do is update the bathrooms. They leave a bit to be desired. I’ve had many of the sandwiches here and many of the salads. I LOVE their creaser salad with rare ahi tuna. That I really recommend. My husband loves the burgers-every single one! Go to Phil’s you won’t regret it.

Hot Prime Rib sandwich — do it ! You won’t regret it. My beau has been coming here for years, and his company ordering lunch often — I finally got to check this place out with him and I’m sad I didn’t get a chance sooner! He recommended the prime rib sandwich, he got one as well. Fries, and a side of home made pickles rounded it out. The bread, garlic bread I might add, was awesome. We spoke not a word to each other, and just ate in silence. Giving winks and smiles to each other here and there noting how good the sandwich was. The fries were great also, requested well done. I retracted a star, for a few things. The plates were seriously old, like scratch marks and chips out of the plates, dark marks that wouldn’t come off. Granted it’s not a frilly place, but… I think the plates should have been replaced. The prime rib had a LOT of fat. I was able to work around it and it was still delicious, but this was seriously fatty… fattier than any prime rib I’ve never come across. The price, the prices of sandwiches are high — but you do get a gigantic serving. Service was stellar, friendly, attentive just enough during the busy lunch rush. Place seemed popular with the locals and not locals alike. I can’t wait to go back!

In the immortal words of Jimmy Fallon, the portions are HUUUUGGEE! They really are, be prepared to be full! Maybe sharing a meal to ensure dessert! My dad and I stopped in for a lunch today and the cheesesteak was enormous! Heaping portions and very good, dad couldn’t finish his so he’s got half for later at home. Half here is a regular sized cheesesteak at genos or pats, get 1 to share! My burger grilled«medium“was overcooked to a little dry but still was very tasty. It was also huge and because of the I won’t be having dinner tonight! I like a side of wing sauce with my fries and this sauce is the best I’ve ever had. It’s thick enough that it sticks to the food and what flavor! Spicy enough, but not so much it’s not enjoyable. The beer selections looked good and I can tell this place packs out so if they take reservations make one, if not, wait, it’s worth it.

Here on biz… Had my first«real» Philly cheese steak sandwich. While I’ve eaten many of these elsewhere in the US, the«Jaws Special» as they call it is amazing. It definitely raised the bar for me on sandwiches. The place is clean, comfortable and excellent service. Pickle chunks are very good.

Ithaca’s Flower Power on tap, great bartenders, good pub grub, what’s not to love. I haven’t been here in 12 years. Since then they did a decent spruce up, the place is clean ;-) and definitely non-local customer friendly now. We split the nachos at the bar, bartender recommended to get the smaller«bar size», for $ 7.50 and for two people that was still fucking HUGE. That was a solid 4 star pub experience for me. I have to start going back there… I keep forgetting. I got CRS disease I think. :-O

There used to be two taverns right next to each other, Phil’s is the last one standing. It has always been a casual bar setting with surprisingly good bar food. Seeing that Toner’s is no more this would be the next best thing. Ample parking(except weekends) Usually a pretty laid back crowd goes here.

I’ve been here so many times, but our last 2 trips really made me happy. My bf and I were coming in so late though the kitchen was closing they still allowed us to order some food. Service has been excellent. I wouldn’t say the food is amazing it’s pretty good, but what do you expect?

Good place for low key lunch. It’s good value for food as the plates are big. Place isn’t going to get any health food awards not is it haute cuisine but that’s not why your here. Get a burger or a good sandwich and move on.

I went with 4 stars because I love the grilled tuna sandwich called Kellys sandwich. It’s 2 nice sized pieces of tunes on a kaiser roll with sliced avocado and a wasabi sauce. Comes with real onion rings and fries. It’s really killer and not really terrible healthwise. The nachos are also great and the have great beers and drinks. The staff is great and very attentive without overdoing it. The regulars seem to be a good bunch as well.

It was ok… Nothing spectacular. The menu was gigantic. We ordered nachos as an app. My fiancée is in love with their nachos. I didn’t see/taste anything amazing; but hey — to each their own. The sandwiches are extremely pricey! $ 12.99 for a chicken salad wrap. $ 12.99 for California Club sandwich(says sliced chicken on the menu… i was not expecting deli meat for $ 12.99). They are the cheapest; prices for sandwiches go up to about $ 22.99! Entrees were $ 25+. I looked at the drink menu… $ 8.75. I got the California club — was not impressed. Could have gotten the same sandwich(maybe better) at a diner for $ 7/$ 8WITH better fries. They tasted like they were fried in old grease. I was not impressed. My fiancée ordered a Burger — no cheese, no tomato… his came out with both. Apparently they send the waitresses home for a few hours in the afternoon… so our waitress just left in the middle of serving us. I have always heard great things about Phils Tavern… I probably wont be back for a while. Not saying I won’t give it another chance it the future, but the quality of the food was not worth the dimes it cost.

Nice place, but the food was pricey and mediocre. Tomato sauce has a weird quality to it. The fries were good tho.

Better food than most pubs in the burbs. The burgers are huge and delicious. The staff is very friendly. Great French onion. The food is a bit plain like most suburb food.

Phil’s Tavern is a Blue Bell institution that I have been going to for at least 20 years. Its in an old building that when you walk into you think you are in a time machine transported back to the 60s with wood paneling everywhere and uncomfortable but solid furniture. The reason I go here is when I want a rib fix. These ribs are not what a bbq aficionado would be looking for but more like the equivalent of Mom’s ribs that she cooked in the crock pot and are falling off the bone. A half slab later, accompanied by coleslaw and broccoli, I had my rib fix. Eating at the bar here is great, as you get great service, and can watch one of the myriad of TV’s plastered to the wall. Prices have definitely gone up over the years, so you will not feel like you are getting a bargain, but the food is good straight forward american comfort food, delivered with a smile.

This place has a lot to like. First, the food is great but it’s not for those watching their figure. I tend to get a cheesesteak. Hey, I’m a tourist. :-) The staff is really nice and very welcoming. Lastly, and certainly not least, the pours are HEALTHY. 4 whole ounces to be exact. That’s right. You get four ounces of liquor when you order a bourbon, scotch, whatever. It’s easy to overdo it here. Be careful and have fun.

This place is for te cool kids and that is reflected by a cool bar scene and cool beer selctions. So it takes audacity to write or agree with these sub-par reviews for a cool place but $ 15 burgers and sandwiches with diner quality ingredients is just rude-Broad Axe Tavern next time because a fifty dollar bill for 2 burgers and 2 beers is 2 much

I went to Phil’s on my lunch break with co-workers. The inside is very dated and could use some cosmetic renovations to emphasize it’s charm — ceiling tiles are kind of dirty and disgusting! In looking over the menu their prices were a bit high. $ 10 for a grilled cheese with ordinary cheeses, I’ll pass!!! A cheeseburger without any sides will run you at least $ 12 but I was informed by the waitress they are known for their burgers. So I ordered one and it was a good premier burger but the patty was entirely too big to enjoy. I like a modest size burger not a monster one. I ordered fries and cole slaw with my burger — fries were great and cold slaw was okay. I also had a soda with my meal and was charged $ 2.95 for it. Not cheap but I have been to upscale establishments that have every right to charge you a lot but although the food was good here I felt ripped off. My experience did not equate to what I paid. I don’t think i would come back again as a result.

I’m really giving them 2.5 stars because the prices are absurdly high and the place is so dated. I’m not sure how you can command $ 12.45 for a ALT(avocado, lettuce, and tomato) sandwich. Really? Is that chunk of profit to cover something else they’re barely breaking even on? The calamari appetizer was a decent portion size, but overly breaded, covering(what I suppose) were very tiny defrosted rings of squid. It came out fast, then again there were only 4 other people in the place. My grilled cheese was okay, and the chicken sandwich topped with spinach was too heavily fried. The prices are mostly $ 12+ up on everything. I’d rather spend my money at a place with nicer ambiance and fresher, non-fried food if they’re going to charge those prices.
