Stayed in their super cute room for a business trip. Nice option of you want to get away from the casino. The room is like a little furnished apartment. And who wouldn’t love your own private hot tub?

The massage was great! The atmosphere wasn’t relaxing or tranquil and the room was too bright in my opinion.

The floatation pool was very relaxing and the spas amenities and services were first rate. A real getaway!

Oasis in Blue Lake. Uniquely located across from the Logger Bar and Dell’Arte in downtown Blue Lake, this place is a secret too well kept. Artfully decorated with a southwest flavor. Well thought out lighting, music and floor plan. Super relaxing atmosphere. Easy to book an appointment with a single phone call. Cedar saunas, a floating pool, and rockin’ massage therapists make this spa shine. I had Nicole for my 90 minute massage. She intuitively knew what i needed. Professional, thorough, and friendly, this was not your average massage. Excellent and consistent pressure, untangled my knots and tension, and revitalized my spirit. Obviously a seasoned massage therapist. I will return here often. Don’t bother with other local spas, this one has exactly what you are look for.

Pretty little place, really nice staff. But I didn’t go there because it’s pretty, I went because I needed a massage. And the experience gets 2 stars. My boyfriend and I got a couples massage and when we called to schedule he asked if they give deep tissue massages because that is what we were looking for. Upon arrival I was told that my boyfriend would be treated by the massage therapist who does deep work; I informed them that I wanted a deep massage too, that we were both looking for deep work, and confusion ensued. The other woman, Olinda, assured me that she can go deep also. Well… During the ‘massage’ I had to ask Olinda for more pressure at least five times and I stopped asking by the end because I felt awkward that she wasn’t getting it and because the room was shared and my boyfriend was actually getting a nice relaxing massage. My mistake. Also when Olinda would stretch, pull or rub my digits, limbs, or otherwise its like she would hurriedly go through the motions but not apply pressure. I repeatedly told her that she should stretch me harder and her response was that most people are not as flexible as I am, which is a fun fact as far as I am concerned and not pertinent to my personalized experience and she still didn’t step it up. She would also continuously and very suddenly leave me to go skip a music track on her music device, she kept dropping the hot stones she was using on the floor and nervously laughing about it, she would converse with me spontaneously during the massage, which is very unprofessional(a client can initiate chat but if the client is trying to zone out don’t start asking them questions), and the last 15 minutes of the massage she obviously didn’t know what to do. She just kept walking slow circles around the bed and placing her hands on me as if doing reiki but I doubt she was even doing that. She started laughing and said to the ‘real’ massage therapist that she forgot what time they started. I am a massage therapist and unfortunately for this woman know that as much as possible you don’t lose contact with the client(keep a hand on them while you walk to the other side of the table), that you don’t bother the client by chatting them up during a massage, and that you should pick your music before a session instead of during. And if you can’t give a deep massage you shouldn’t say you can because then you’ll get a shoddy Unilocal review. Really nice lady, shame, but she should dedicate herself to something else. Either that or if she is learning she should say so and charge less. I left there smelling nice though. $ 90 for getting hot towels on me and smelling nice and hanging out with nice people.

Had a couples massage there today for an hour. The time seemed to just slip away! The whole experience was extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. A gentle and soothing ambiance with a very friendly staff, I feel highly encouraged to make this a monthly endeavour.

I had the best massage of my life at Chumayo with Katie this weekend! I had the one hour standard massage but it was not standard. Katie is intuitive, gifted and down to earth. I made a phone call immediately following my massage and I had no consonants I was so relaxed :-) My body felt good for days after. This is a serene space with excellent therapists and reasonable prices. I highly recommend Chumayo and especially Katie if you are in the Humboldt County area.

We recently rented the guest room upstairs from the spa. This was a wonderful experience and for only 85 $ you get a room that has a double bed as well as a small loft for the kids, a full kitchen(no oven, but microwave, fridge, sink, stove, etc.), and a private hot tub ! The room is well-stocked with movies to watch, popcorn, coffee, and local info. about places to eat, stuff to do, etc. I highly recommend this great little studio for anyone wanting to stay in Blue Lake… We did not get a massage during this visit, but the spa seemed peaceful and inviting, the owners friendly and professional…

Wow! I was 100% unaware that another sauna even existed at Chumayo and there is never anyone physically present to greet us… we are left to follow a novel of instructions written in red ink on a teeny tiny sticky note… we went into the one and only sauna I had ever been in… Julie admitted to wondering«who could possibly be in that sauna.» but for some reason she never ever guessed that maybe it was us???(not to mention we had taken the precious sticky note with us so if she even TRIED to put 2 and 2 together she maaaaaaaaybe would have found us in the wrong sauna instead of leaving us in there wondering who we were… And while we were in there a man walked in on me naked!!! When we finally found Julie by walking out into the hallways yelling Hello… She was asleep in the massage room and laughed at me when I told her someone had walked in on me… and she had sent the other therapists home. Very unprofessional and yes, as our host it was her fault for not finding us… and assuming we could not have possibly been who we were meant to be because we were in the wrong sauna… ridiculous!

Amazing massages, and great massage therapists. The interior design is so relaxing and truly makes you feel at home. Zimba, the spa cat, is also definitely a plus.

Had my first experience at Chumayo last week for my birthday. It was excellent! The interior is calming and centering, the smells and sounds were amazing, as was the treatment I got. I loved Zimba the spa cat, too! I cannot wait to go back and try something else!

Beautiful atmosphere and ambiance! As soon as you walk in the door, it is as if you enter New Mexico and a sacred healing place. They have wonderful therapists, large saunas and a relaxing floating pool. I recommend the over night room for a comfortable, home –away-from home stay!

From the outside, this is just another building in Blue Lake, but once inside, Chumayo Spa’s high desert-esque vortices elevate and integrate your body and soul’s consciousness. The staff is keenly attuned and heart-centered, and the energy here resonates at a high vibration. The epsom salt floatation pools are an amazing way to connect to your inner universe, deepening the mind-body experience. This space is a true well-spring of healing and expansion for this community and humanity at large!
