I ordered from Bellacino’s and Crazy Tomato on the same night(to compare styles of crust and sauce). The staff was more social than Bellacino’s. The members of staff seemed to know many of those that came in. I ordered the Mergherita pizza which was 18 inches with fresh tomato, spinach, mozzerella and olive oil. The sauce was sweet. My 13 year old loved it. I liked it. The 18 I ordered was pie cut as opposed to the square cut at Bellacino’s. Because it was pie cut, each piece had to be folded and gobbled(or eaten with a fork). The 18 inch was a couple of dollars cheaper than the 16 inch at Belaccino’s.

The food is decent as best. I ordered a supreme calzone with banana peppers added. It was $ 9.95 and was enough for 2 or 3 people. I was told the delivery would be 45 minutes and it ended up being an hour and a half. My calzone was extremely greasy, like dripping as I ate it. It was almost too much to consume and gave me heartburn instantly. The meat was deli slices and they were all stuck in a bunch in the corner of the calzone. I think it would taste much better if it was evenly spread throughout the calzone. The pizza sauce tasted more like salsa than pizza sauce. All in all I probably will not eat here again unless they make an upgrade to the quality of their ingredients.

I ate at the Crazy Tomato multiple times over about a six month period. I have very mixed feelings. The good: Their pepperoni and cheese calizone is hard to beat for five bucks, and their salads are a decent value. The bad: Ordering delivery is a crap shoot. It is hard to tell what you will get or if you will get your full order. Out of the last eight times that I ordered, I say that my order was wrong about 60% of the time. For some reason, they are super stingy on their tomato sauce. If you order meatballs, sometimes they are covered, but most of the time the sauce is hiding somewhere under the meatballs. Never should you have to search for the sauce if you order meatballs. I mean most places honestly cook the meatballs in the sauce so that you don’t have that problem. Also if you order a calizone, you should get at least a few cups of tomato sauce not just one the size of a fifty cent piece. If you order spaghetti, you will not find any meat. Very seldom will you find any sauce. Also, be prepared to eat raw green peppers because from some reason they cut them up after the spaghetti is cooked and mix them in. If you order philly cheesesteak, the steak is cooked, but not the onions or the peppers. Who in the world has ever heard of just cooking the meat but not the peppers and onions. Are they not supposed to be heated together, and then covered in melted cheese? Also you will be charged a delivery charge, and often times the owners will deliver. But then, they will also expect you to leave a tip. This makes the food very highly priced even if you order something cheap. That 5 $ calizone has just entered the 10 dollar stage. Also delivery people will show up to your work and just sit there without having you paged. How in the world are we supposed to know that you are sitting in the lobby? At least call us if you are not going to have us paged. Oh well, my rant ends here.

I’ve eaten here twice, once take out and once dine in. Both times the food was great. The calzones are big enough for two to enjoy. I especially like the chicken bacon ranch calzone. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and dough better than any chain pizza place.

Worst pizza and wings we have ever had. There wasnt any flavor and the wings were way too hot. We will never eat their food again.

I go up to Bluefield every few months to see my sister who works up there. I always dread chain food or the usual Mexican. She suggested we go here. It looked like a hole in the wall, but you cant judge a book by its cover. Wow was I shocked!!! We had house salads, garlic knots and split a 14″ margarita pizza. It could have fed at least three people. Prices are much lower than what you’d pay in Roanoke for something like this. Salad was fresh and crisp, garlic knots to die for and the pizza on point. You gotta try this place!!!

Went looking for a local non-chain place for lunch today and we stopped into the Crazy Tomato. Interesting little place. Only 7 or 8 tables but the pizza was fantastic and the prices were very reasonable. Want a great pizza, with great taste, and a great price. Give this place a try.
