I’ve worked hard to avoid Subway for a decade. Meanwhile, when you’re fishing guide pulls in at 8 am and tells you to grab a sandwich for the day, you have to eat it. After ordering sandwiches from Jason’s Deli the day prior it’s nearly impossible to enjoy Subway. The quality is clearly several notches poorer. Sure, Subway is cheaper. Meanwhile, we’re looking for a fresh sandwich with quality bread, premium meats and tasty sides, all of which Subway can’t bring to the table. The meats here taste like those you’ll find in packages in the refrigerated section of the grocery store or gas station. Jersey Mikes and McAllisters blow this place away. In fact, even Arby’s makes better sandwiches. On a side note, the staff we encountered was nice and the price can’t be beat. On the other hand, we aren’t part of the crowd that eats food due to price. Quality better serves us. And, I’m no food snob. I eat Bojangles!

Probably the best team of Subway sandwich artists I’ve ever met. This Subway is just north of the river on 19/11E as you come north from Johnson City to Bristol Motor Speedway or the Bristol Dragway. Sits as a companion store to a gas station, yet has it’s own dining room and separate staff. I’ve come to rely on this location for their hours(7am-10pm), friendly service, and ability to accommodate during Bristol race weeks. They ALWAYS have fresh ingredients, staff up accordingly, and will take phone in orders ahead of time. Everything here works. You can count on these guys to be open and have plenty of Subway goodness. Plus, you can gas up and grab some cold beer and ice for the cooler all in one place. My go-to Bristol raceday meal!
