We finally got a chance to try this place. There was five in our party and we had everything on the evening’s menu — hot and cold appetizers, entrees and desserts. We all left in awe of what we just experienced. Don’t judge the building or its décor. Neither could ever indicate the culinary delight that awaits.

Great place! We are from Dallas and have been to some great restaurants. Let’s Eat could compete easily with the best in Dallas. We had the duck and pork, and it was incredible! The chef had an extra appetizer of chicken & waffles and brought it to us to try. Amazing food ‚& fun atmosphere.

Great concept! A one room building with the kitchen on the right and seating on the left. I loved the interaction with the chef. The food was great.

Uhhhhh…, if you have not heard. Let’s Eat is freakin good damn food. Drive to Bluffdale, sit down and bask in the goodness that is Mr Curren Dodd, he is my favorite, second only to that Candied Pork Belly (see attached photo of me licking that plate!). Salut !

My husband and I were staying at a b&b in granbury for the weekend and were stumped on where to eat. It was our anniversary and we wanted something a little special. My goodness did we find it! Let’s Eat is hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever experienced. First off, the restaurant has a neat concept. Tiny place holding around 30 with a full view of the chef at work. There are long communal tables and the chef chats with folks while he cooks. Everyone orders everything at the same time so the chef can create all of the courses at the proper time. The menu isn’t skimpy either — at a given time the chef has to prepare 5 – 6 different dishes, all unique and all done flawlessly! Now to the food. I went with the chicken and waffle appetizer with jalapeño maple syrup and the ribeye. My husband had the meat board and the duck breast. Everything was prepared to order right in front of you, and it was all friggin delicious. The service was also great, and there were lots of little extras that made the whole night very memorable, like the tasting dish of mac and cheese the chef sent over after he saw me drooling. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, or even within an hour of the neighborhood, get a reservation and treat yoself.

I’ve been coming here for over 5 years now, and I cannot believe I haven’t written a review yet. This place is amazing, Curren has made a liar out of me on more than one occasion, by making something that I said I didn’t like and making me like it. It’s a short drive for me, but my family that is over 2 hours away never misses an opportunity to eat here when invited. Be sure to call for a reservation a few days before if you want to eat here on Friday or Saturday. The drive is well worth it, plus it’s BYOB!

Unusual setting, run down looking place on the east side of # 377 going south out of Granbury with very positive reviews. Family seating next to who every has made reservations for your time to be seated. Food was good but not real consistent in that I asked some of the people we got to know while ordering & eating about their food. Mostly good to excellent evaluations. My food was good. Would I go back? Probably, I may have been expecting too much. Everyone deserves a second chance!

Made a reservation one month in advance to eat at this restaurant. Got a phone call the night before the reservation to be told that they were closing for a special event and that my reservation was canceled. We Had an entire weekend planned around eating at this restaurant. So disappointed! My advice don’t trust him! Extremely offer was made to compensate any of this inconvenience. I bet they have rats to.

My family took me here for my birthday dinner. The food was outstanding and I loved the atmosphere and that it is byob. We took lots of wine! Our waitress was very nice and efficient and it was neat getting to watch the chef make our food not ten feet away. I got the macaroni and cheese, the beef tenderloin with pototoes, and shared the fried pb&j for dessert. I thought the tenderloin was some of the best I have ever had. I would for sure go back to eat here again.

Let’s Eat is a goody. my family and I make the drive to Bluff Dale from Granbury whenever I’m in town, and it’s kind of one of my favorite things to do. the food is delectable. pork tenderloin, beef tenderloin, shrimp lettuce wraps, FRIEDPB&Js. the list goes on & on. the menu changes pretty frequently, but it’s always good. it’s a little pricy but well worth it. it’s BYOB and I really like that. so get your wine and/or beer before ya make the drive out to the bluffs. the ambiance is fair. it’s an old, somewhat cramped room — but that is exactly what Curran, the owner, is going for. you get to watch him cook and wait as he makes everything(all food is made to order. pretty cool). there have been talks for a couple years now that he is planning to make the move to a bigger facility further up the road a little. he is only open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays for dinner. there are 2 seatings, so make sure you make a reservation. there is one at 6:00 and one at 8:15pm. the place can only hold about 30 people. if you call early on in the week, they don’t call you back to confirm your reservation until the day of or the day before. I would definitely suggest driving out here if you are from the Granbury/Stephenville area — maybe not so much if you’re coming from Fort Worth.(the only reason I say that is because I’m not really into long drives.) all in all, a great experience. good food & fun setting.

The food was great, the service was good, atmosphere was different. Seating is European style– everyone is at one long table. Ive had fantastic experiences and miserable experiences in this kind of seating– you never know who your seatmate is going to be. Prices are very fair. I would come back with a group and lots of wine.

Some of our friends read about Lets Eat in Bluff Dale, Texas about halfway between Granbury and Stephenville on highway 377. I read about it on Unilocal and noticed how many 5 star reviews it has. We decided to go and reserved space for eight last Saturday at 6:00. After an hour’s drive, we arrived at the white, cinder block building that used to be a Post Office. At 5:45, we began to queue up in front of the still locked door. Good thing as by 6:00, there were 32 people waiting in front. We were seated family style at the table directly in front of Chef Curren Dodd and his kitchen. He is a friendly chap and seemed to relate with our crew throughout the meal. The food, however, leaves something to be desired. Apparently, the menu changes frequently so the menu that is shown online doesn’t exist on a daily basis. I ordered shrimp bisque(quite tasty), smoked quail with collard greens(quail was tiny and over cooked, collard greens were chopped up and presented in a thick cream sauce), and for dessert the chocolate chip and raisin bread pudding(somewhat grainy texture like it had coconut in it). Others in our group had the shrimp(slightly overcooked and presented in a thick, too rich cream sauce), flatiron steak(overcooked and dry); my wife had the pork loin(the best dish at the table, cooked medium rare with a tasty brown sauce). Since it is a BYOB place, we all had a great time and even interacted with the other people in the restaurant — it only seats 32 total. It would have been perfect if the food had been a bit better. Would I go back? Maybe.

Didn’t want to do this because I selfishly want to be able to walk in here and eat every weekend without a crowd, but I have to for the sake of the surrounding area. This place is comparable to any restaurant in the DFW area. He is a five-star chef gone rural, cinder clock shack cook. Don’t let the outside deceive you though. Please go here and get the steak or chicken and waffles(only seasonally available) with fried PB&J and homemade cinnamon ice cream for dessert. Lighter options available, but hey, it’s the weekend. BYOB and mostly family-style seating. He typically does two reserved seating per night on the weekends. The hours say until 9:30, but we sometimes don’t get out of the later seating until 10 or 10:30, so no rush. Be sure to walk around the neat town and the suspension bridge on the last road to the right towards Stephenville.

This is — without a doubt — the coolest place I’ve dined while in Texas(2+ year resident). I can’t wait to visit Let’s Eat again — the restaurant set up and way this hole in the wall gem is run is really, really cool and unusual. They’re open Thurs-Saturday, they do two dinner ‘shifts’ a night, one seating at 6pm and one at 8:15. Make sure you call in to reserve a spot, at any given time I’d say a maximum of 40 people can fit in this restaurant-kitchen. Also, it’s BYOB, they’ve got glasses, bottle openers, etc, you provide the booze. The menu is American fare, I enjoyed the *$^% out of my house salad(dressings are homemade; flavor combos very exciting), roasted poblano pepper stuffed w duck and a corn/bell pepper sort of succotash, and homemade apple pie + ice cream for dessert(why stop when you’re only comfortably full?). The owner has an open kitchen, so you can see everything he prepares [THIS. IS. AWESOME.] Other favorites(assumption based on quantity that exited the kitchen) appeared to be the mac and cheese with shrimp**, enormous steaks, chicken and waffles, and the filet mignon. The servers(there are TWO of them. they take care of everyone, they’re friendly, they make sure everyone’s taken care of, AND they make all the desserts; ice creams & pies, etc. the only thing that isn’t homemade is the cheesecake, which they’ll tell you is from the Cheesecake Factory) Overall experience: COOLESTEVER, ANDFOODISFANTASTIC. I’m looking forward to my next visit, even with the hour+ commute from Cowtown!

An open letter: Curren – you hit it out of the park last Saturday! So glad we were able to get reservations for my husband and I and daughter and son-in-law. They were bowled over with the flavor sensations! My husband’s ribeye was grilled to perfection, our SIL gobbled his duck chile relleno, and our daughter devoured her flat iron steak. Then they both help me eat my grilled shrimp and mac-n-cheese. SIL said it was the best he’d ever eaten(maybe because you use EIGHT different cheeses!). Of course, I agreed. And then, to make sure they talked about it all the way back to New Braunfels, for dessert we all shared the fried PBJ with homemade vanilla ice cream and the huge banana split with fresh berries. All superb! We won’t wait so long to come again. Thanks for a great evening!(pictures to follow…)

Let’s Eat is a shockingly pleasant surprise! We almost turned around and left when we were standing there looking in the window of this old cinder block building — with the plywood tables, stacks of styrofoam cups and one room operation. The dining area, kitchen, and dish washing are all located in one room. Deciding we needed to try something new, we went on in and are SO glad we did! We quickly felt very comfortable in this little restaurant and the staff of 4 — Chef Curren Dodds, two servers and one person washing dishes — were all so friendly and spoke to us upon entering. There is a welcoming and friendly vibe immediately upon walking into this restaurant and they make you feel like they’re genuinely happy you’re there. We started with a salad that came with what appeared to be homemade blue cheese dressing. Fresh and good. Then we ordered asparagus soup, also fresh and good. Interesting and different — we would definitely order the soup, again. My husband ordered the $ 35.00 tenderloin and was not disappointed. He’s not easy to please when it comes to buying a steak at a restaurant and I always cringe when he does because I spend my whole meal listening to how disappointed he is — BUT — this time — he didn’t have one complaint. It was cooked to perfection and he said it was probably the best steak he’s ever gotten at a restaurant. I ordered a shrimp & scallop dish with a green curry sauce served over rice. AMAZING! We finished the meal with a shared piece of cheesecake that was moist and fresh. Be prepared to spend a little extra time waiting for your meal but keep in mind that Chef Dodds slices the steaks when they’re ordered and prepares everything fresh while you wait. The freshness is obvious in the taste of his creations, so it’s most definitely worth the extra time. Next time we’ll take a bottle of wine to share while we wait, as they provide wine glasses for their customers that are bringing in their own spirits. I, personally, would not take my children — not for the atmosphere, but because they would get impatient waiting and the food is more Five Star gourmet and not really for a child’s palate. However, this IS the perfect place for a couple’s date night. Dress is casual and conversation is easy as it is not a noisy place. We’ve decided this is most definitely our new«date night» place. Be sure to check the hours before you go, as they are limited but, hey, when they’re serving cuisine like this, with probably some of the best personal service we’ve ever had — they can choose any hours they want! Do yourself a favor and go at least once. You won’t be disappointed!!!

This place absolutely blew us away. Curren Dodds is a classically-trained French chef and he loves to experiment with all kinds of things so the menu changes fairly frequently. I had the flat-iron steak and my wife had the quail. Both were excellent. For dessert we had the Bananas Foster atop French toast. Our meal was a little pricey but when you think about the fact that this is in an old post office with one chef cooking everything and two people waiting tables and one other guy washing dishes… and they’re open only 3 nights a week… it’s well worth the price. It’s only a short hike from Granbury and you will be surprised by how basic the eating conditions are considering how wonderful the food is. Where else can you have a conversation with the fella that’s cooking your food? I’m telling you this is off-the-charts better than Waffle House… so don’t even bring that up. I found a really cool video that sums up everything about this place:
