No thank you. I get that Off Island is trying to accomplish a more boutique-ish, classy thrift shop vibe, but honestly it’s hard for me to want to go back in there. Some of the pieces were nice, but WAY overpriced for donated items that were probably worth more originally in brand-new condition. We found a desk that we liked and asked the nice lady at the front if she would hold it for 24 hours. She said yes, we exchanged information and went on our way. When we came back the next day to purchase it, the desk had a SOLD sticker on it and to our amazement– they sold it to someone else within the 24 hours! Quite upset, we asked the lady why this happened and what we could do. She simply shrugged and gave a «too bad so sad» kind of excuse. It seems that this is one of those places that’s more into generating revenue for a «good cause» than upholding their standards and policies and maintaining a good reputation within the community.

Contrary to the negative and untrue comments provided by some reviewers, I did not think these stores were either overpriced or junky. On the contrary. The quality of the merchandise was good, the stores well organised, the cashiers friendly and helpful and the prices outrageously good. How anyone can suggest otherwise is beyond my comprehension. I will always go there on any future visit to Bluffton.

Great place for thrift shopping. Was out on the island for a wedding an had to kill time before going to the reception and decided to drop in. Best decision. Large inventory, good layout, decent prices. You have to really look for some deals, but they are to be found. Some of the stuff is a bit higher priced than other thrift stores, but you’d find that problem at any shop you went to. Looking for the deals is what makes thrift shopping fun.

This is the 3rd location of Off Island Thrift– the location that is suppose to carry the 50% off home furnishing and 50% off clothing. I spent quite a bit of time looking around in here. Like their other locations, the store is massive. I skipped over the clothing, mostly browsing in the home items and taking a look around the furniture. Everything is soooo overpriced for a thrift store– no wonder they need 3 locations, its because they never get rid of any inventory because its overpriced! $ 30 for a used(and grossly dirty) toaster oven that originally cost no more than $ 50… no thank you can keep it. I think its great they help out cancer patients, but the business major in me says they’d make more money by lowering prices and moving more inventory. I recently purchased a VCR(I know, how modern of me), so I bought the toddler a few VHS tapes for $ 1 each, but other than those I left empty handed. As an eBay reseller if I leave the store empty handed its because the store is full of junk, overpriced, or both.

All three stores are stocked full of stuff. You can find us about anything you’d want to find here. Only problem is everything is really overpriced I think they need to look up the definition of a thrift store. My other complaint is that they will not negotiate on anything. They always come up with the excuse that it has to be on the floor so many days beforr they negotiated even after that they really won’t. I wish their prices just were a little lower cuz I shop here all the time. I’m all about giving money to charity but I’m also looking for a deal at a thrift store.

This is the biggest, most organized thrift shop I’ve ever been in. My wife agrees with that and she’s been in a lot of stores. They have everything from electronics to clothes. Pretty good prices. Some of the stuff was pretty nice so it deserved a higher price than what may be normal in a thrift shop. Clothes were arranged by size rather than color like some other stores. Not overcrowded with stuff in areas so you don’t have to dig either. It felt like an old department store of used items. We would come here again if in town.

This store is so overpriced! I understand its a charity, but people are looking for bargains in thrift shops, not overpriced junk. Quality of merchandise is poor and price is very high. I found a small side table with great bones listed at $ 19 and they wouldn’t come down in price. Also, they have coupons which they send out to Bluffton residents only. Tourist trap. But whatever I contributed $ 20 to help someone with cancer, I think?

Off Island Thrift is a great place to pick up everyday items and support those with cancer.

With the economy sliding and financial issues for the average individual on the rise(with no real end in sight) watching the out flows of cash is at a premium. My past purchasing behavior NEVER consisted of a thrift store of any type, it just never dawned on me to walk into one. Key word in thrift store is thrift and when you walk into Off Island with a few items in mind, you can exercise significant thrift in your spending. When you walk in, there are racks of clothes to your right, home interior items straight and to the left, with little collection areas of other sundries. I was not looking to purchase clothing, but upon my perusing, I picked up a brand new Foot Joy golf shirt(retail about $ 50.00 minimum) was marked at $ 7.00, so that came with me. After one pass down that isle, I had 10 shirts and had to scale back, as I was not there for golf shirts. From flatware, bedding, home interior items and more, this ia a well run, clean shop with many quality items at bargain basement prices. You do not have to be a lower wage earning individual, to enter this store, which is actually what I had thought. MYTHDISPELLED! anyone that has a frugal bone in their body would be well served to take a peek inside.
