Tried the green curry. It was bland and had a somewhat very unpleasant smell. I was very disappointed

This is the only Thai restaurant in the area, so they have to adjust to a clientele that’s not particularly versed in Thai cuisine. This limits the menu somewhat and results in more bland food. This, however, made it a great spot to bring my Dad, who hates spicy food and had never really had Thai food. Overall, the food is tasty if unspectacular, and attractively presented. I’ve travelled extensively in Thailand and I live in an area with a large Thai population, so Ruan doesn’t meet my rather lofty standards for Thai food at home, but for Thai in Bluffton it’s a decent choice(as well as the only choice). I hope that people will support it, as it would be unfortunate to lose the only option in the area. My only gripe is that is somewhat overpriced for Thai food. I would expect the majority of entrees to be under $ 10, and as I recall most were $ 12 or more. I should also note that the restaurant is clean, so don’t be turned off by the guy who posted *two* reviews claiming to have seen roaches. It seems highly unlikely that he visited Ruan, had his meal ruined by roaches, and then returned a year later to experience exactly the same thing. Either he is a troll or he harbors some sort of grudge.

Amazing food !!! Great food at a great price!!! The service is moderate but it’s worth it after you eat. The Tom Kha or Coconut soap is the best I have ever had!!! I go there every visit to nyc and I keep turning others on to it!!! The ambiance is great and the menu is very user friendly.

Ordered three appetizers between four people. Coconut shrimp was overcooked and when we broke the breeding off we discovered that the shrimps were cut in half down their length leaving only half the shrimp. The mussels were rubbery and flavorless. Calamari sauce was good but part of the meat was overcooked. Tom yum soup was just ok. The mango sticky rice tasted old or sour or some flavor I couldn’t put my finger on. I’m told the entrees, pad Thai and garlic stir fry, were very good and may be the only thing that saved this review from one star. Will not return. Oh and the restroom was disgusting.

Had dinner there a few weeks ago. Great food but a cockroach run right up our bench. Absolutely disgusting. Really makes me question their cleanliness. Will never go back.

Love this place! All of the curry dishes are delicious! It has great service, and the ambiance is wonderful — very clean too. They are talented in adding some type of art to each plate and drink. The many different flavors are wonderful. We always enjoy going here when we are in the area!

I love good Pad Thai. I have only eaten the pad thai here about 5 times and I like it but the noodles they use are not my personal favorite. They’re good, I just prefer a thicker noodle. The staff is friendly and helpful, the menu looks great. I will need to try more dishes when I come in or get take out but if you’re craving pad thai this certainly works for me.

Big on pomp and small on taste and food. Too bad this is one of the few choices for Thai in the area. The Ghetto Thai restaurant had better food that this place. Blah.

Food was tasty but the portions were very small. Everything was overpriced. They also automatically add 18% gratuity to the check, regardless of how many people are dining.

This is really good place for Thai Food in Bluffton, South Carolina. If you would like to try Asian Thai Food-this would be the place in the entire BLUFFTON, SC. Awesome and good place. People who serve are nice –good people worth mentioning are Rae-Ann, Dante and Kim. They are awesome and great people. Kim works only part time or certain days. They make the Veggie Fried rice really nice. They are good at providing the directions also, since GPS and google maps can drop you at a different place on the same shopping complex. It is on the same place Kroger shopping is there. It is like a strip mall or shopping mall. The Bar is awesome place to sit down and very quiet and nice. They have different wines, but I love Shinga Beer more!

We’ve just moved to the area from metro west, Boston where we had two superb Thai restaurants within a 10 minute drive from our house. After reading some reviews on this spot, we opted to do a take out. What a big disappointment. The chicken satay was so poor we ended up giving it to our dogs though the peanut sauce was very good. The Thai basil with chicken was tasteless as was my hot and sour soup. I had the Wassermann curry which was very good though very thin and watery. Overall, a negative food experience and we’ll keep searching for a better Thai restaurant.

This is my second time coming to this place, and I have to say that both the food and service is excellent. Yes, there are other Thai restaurants and some might cost less, but this place has great food. Get away from the«normal» Thai style dishes, and if you try the whole red snapper, you will know you’ve hit the jackpot!

The Thai food here was okay. My wife and I are a little picky about our Thai. We’ve been to several cities in Thailand on more than one occasion and since then we’ve been Thai-food snobs. This place is a nice restaurant but I found their food very basic. It didn’t have the punch and the interesting nuances and flavors that I’ve come accustomed to with good Thai food. I’m sure we’ll go back since it’s the closest place to where we live. If I had friends that were not very adventurous eaters, then maybe I’d take them here to start them off.

Had lunch here with a co-worker and really impressed with the interior décor and menu. Went with the curry dish… great flavor. I agree with others who have reviewed that the portions are on the smaller side… but I welcome that as I could easily overeat Thai food simply because of the flavor.

Google Map misled us and it took some searching to find the Resturant, but it was well worth the effort. The service was exemplary, the food spectacular, presentation was exquisite. I had Stir Fried Chicken & Vegetables, and Thai Pork Fried Rice. My wife had the Duck. Wow. Visit this gem for great food. Treat yourself.

This would be a four star review if not for the service. Called ahead last night at seven to see how busy and what time a booth would be available. I was told they were completely full and it would be eight forty five before table would be available. At seven thirty we just took a chance and drove over. The place was almost completely empty, and plenty of booths available. Hmmm? The food is great, the service stinks. This is the second time in a month we came here and same thing both times. Would have given them more money for two more glasses of wine, but we’re never asked if we needed anything after the food arrived. This could be a great place.

Who doesn’t like spicy Thai food? This is a very nice, albeit, rather expensive, Thai restaurant! The food here is top notch– Very Good! I had a whole cooked, crispy fried flounder that was very good. Served with a spicy salsa/sauce and steamed vegetables with plain white rice. As stated in another review, the mango and sticky rice dessert is very good– A very nice concoction of sweet warm rice with sliced mango’s! Nice Comfort Food!

We started out with the Tom Kah soup with Tofu and it was a bit too sweet — I’ve had better. Then we ordered the appetizer sampler which was okay. Most of the dumplings were pretty good but the dipping sauces were strange and seemed to be store bought rather than scratch made. The worst thing on the platter was the chicken satay which was overly large and rubbery. The main course was the Mussaman Curry with chicken, this dish was too watery and the sauce did not adhere to the chicken — not good at all. We had the the Thai iced tea to drink and it was tasty and unusual. Overall this place is mediocre at best and WAAAAAY overpriced — would not go back :(
