HORRIBLESERVICE! A co-worker and myself walked in today just after 2:00 pm, the restaurant was not busy at all. we were seated, not a word was said to us. A Server delivered food to one table and another server delivered drinks to a different table, still not a word was said to us. after 7 minutes we got up and walked out. first and last time… never again!

DON’T ORDER the tres leches!!! It’s not the real deal. Basically, traditional tres leches is made with a spongy cake soaked in three different milks and topped with whipped topping. One of the milks is condensed sweetened milk and the flavor is evident at first bite. If you’ve had authentic tres leches, you know what I’m talking about. It is my favorite dessert and I’ve made it myself on many occasions. The one served here is bread(yes, you read correctly, BREAD) soaked in regular milk that has been sweetened. The bread still had the crust on it. Actually, if you compare it to the bread and butter they serve, they look and taste the same. I should have asked for milk, poured it on the bread and I would’ve saved $ 4.95. They top it with whipped cream, however on top of that they add a strange tasteless icing that looked like chocolate and was definitely not. It was awful! I had to confirm twice with two different servers that this tasteless milk logged bread was what they try to call tres leches. I mentioned this to our server and he said this is how they make it and many people order it. Unfortunately, I was one of them. He got insulted and rudely said that he’s not sure how I make it but everyone likes theirs. I assure you, if you’ve had an awesome tres leches cake anywhere else, you will also be disappointed. Wholefoods Market used to carry amazing ones in their bakery section. In fact, they now carry tres leches from the well known Cuban restaurant in Little Havana called Versailles. I highly recommend it. Taking their food and service into account, I gave them 3 stars. On the other hand, their so called«tres leches» gets a big fat 0 stars with 2 thumbs down and a bong.

Service. A+. Absolutely perfect. Couldn’t ask for better. Same hard working guys cover lunch and dinner Food. A. Just Very good. Very nicely done options. Not sure if authentic but very good. Only suggestion is to stay away from the vegetarian option Ambiance. B. It’s nice but a little stale for dinner. Very clean but almost to the point of sterile. Not abstraction but being honest.

Cozy place with just the right amount of decorations but I came here for the food. This place has lunch specials which I did not try today but I will try soon. I had the Masa de Peurco which came with white rice, beans, sauteed onions and two plantains. Serving size of the pork was probably a tad bit on the lighter side but it was lunch so who’s complaining. The pork morsels were super juicy even though from the outside they look dry. The rice is fluffy and the beans are just right. The plantains were fresh and definitely some of the best I have had in a while. Our waiter was very attentive and we never had to ask him for anything; this was true of all staff and not just ours. So in closing I would say this is a hidden gem in Boca that I will be frequenting going forward. And your level of comfort with cuban food does not matter as this will make all people fall in love.

I totally forgot about Cuban Café which I had been to years ago when it was actually owned by Cuban owners. My son recommended we meet there for lunch since he works close by, years later. Since then I have been their twice for several reasons. First, I must say that every time I have been there, the parking lot is full, there is a line of people always waiting and the tables and bar are always filled to capacity. The location is perfect, just south of Spanish River on Second Avenue, where there are a lot of business within a short distance, so no wonder it is always busy. When you walk in do not get discouraged to be in a line of people waiting because it goes really fast. They seem to move tables quickly at least when it comes to lunch. Twice, my son and I got seated immediately at a regular table, and once I sat at a large bar which was excellent, great service, 2TV’s directly in front of me and an extremely friendly server behind the bar. The service at the tables are no different. Once we placed our order, we got served within 10 minutes. They have the service thing down right, from seating to serving and getting the bill. I have been in and out of there in 45 minutes. The atmosphere is really clean and their are two dining areas. One that seats 2 and 4 top tables and the other on the other side of the restaurant for large parties also, which is a much bigger area. This is not a small place although from the front it looks small. I love the bar area the best. It is not your typical liquor bar, but an eating area with a couple of Cuban Coffee machines and a small wine cooler. Plenty of room and quick service as well. They do serve wines from Argentina and Chile as well as beer, Margaritas and Home Made Sangria, either white or red. Since the restaurant was sold to different owners six years ago, the original chef had left. It now does not serve the«authentic» Cuban food you would get at the Cuban owned restaurants, but your typical pulled pork, beef, chicken and fish, all very generous portions. They always serve fried plantains, black beans and rice, also in large portions and consistently great flavor. I happen to love their pulled pork. I have had the chicken and I is really flavorful marinated and grilled with a lime based marinade. I ordered their Cuban Coffee in the end, and it is just as good as any Cuban restaurant, including the authentic places I have been to. I really think Cuban Café is a GREAT lunch place. You get seated quickly, the service is excellent like they have been doing it the same way for years. The food is really good but if you are experienced in real Cuban cuisine, do not expect this place to live up to the great places you may have tried in South Florida that ARE authentic Cuban. Consistency is always key to a successful restaurant, and consistently good is what Cuban Café is all about.

My family had an excellent time. Service was extremely good and food was good as well. We will definitely go back for some more homey Cuban food.
