Very small place but free and great for kids. There are some nice animal exhibits and a nice wooden trail that leads to a tower. Today we saw a turtle, birds, and a duck. Pretty good considering that it was cool outside. When we got back inside, we hung around a little bit so our daughter could watch the baby alligator get fed. She thought that was really cool. It was more crowded around the tank than I thought it would be, but everyone let the kids get up front so they could see.

If there is one thing Boca has, it’s great parks. Each park seems to have one really cool feature. Like Gumbo Limbo has the sea turtles, Sugar Sand has that neat science explorium, Patch Reef has the pirate cove playground and South County Regional Park has the Daggerwing Nature Center. Daggerwing has an exhibit that is unlike anything I’ve ever seen at a county park before. It’s like an indoor rainforest that hosts turtles, skunks, snakes, baby alligators, frogs and an owl. It’s easily the newest and nicest attraction any Boca park has to offer. While there may not be an overwhelming amount of things to do at Daggerwing, the actual park itself is the complete package. Amphitheater, water park, dog park, children playgrounds, soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball diamonds, nature trails and of course plenty of grills to have cook-outs on. SCRP is easily the best of the bunch, but what makes them so great is Daggerwing. It’s free to the public(donations accepted), very clean, informative, friendly and your kids can spend a good hour inside learning and interacting with all the exhibits. Plus their now open on Saturdays until 4:30.

This place is a gem. It’s free to get in(donations accepted) and is never overcrowded. Plenty of space for my little one to run around. Cool animals for him to see– baby alligator, turtles, a skunk, snakes(yuck!), an owl… and a little area for coloring and looking at books. They even have story time on certain days and a nice nature trail in the back that’s great to walk in cooler weather.
