Very discourteous cashiers. Perhaps Dollar Tree will hire nicer people.

This was my first time ever visiting the Deal Store. Pretty much like most other dollar stores but with a different name and logo. I especially found them to have good prices on Christmas wrapping and boxes. When I went, there was a very large and well priced selection of Christmas gear, which actually made the wrapping pretty fun this year.

After several check-ins, I figured I better post a review. I don’t want my fellow Unilocal Elites to think I only shop at Nordstrom and Tiffany’s — although they are my preferred stores. I go to this place when I want to get something I know they have, it will be cheap, and will do the trick. So, I buy shiny wine bags at $ 1., [I used to gift bottles of wine sans bag, and Dennis yells at me and says«that’s tacky!», and I respond, «they re just going to toss the bag, or re-use it, why do I need to spend $ 4 at Hallmark? and the wine doesn’t taste any better if it is in a wine bag, but I give into him and now gift the wine in a bag. I get an occasional greeting card at .50 or $ 1. and have purchased blankets($ 10 each) for the Unilocal Blanket drive. Now, I don’t want to sound classist or anything, but the majority of the people shopping there just look like they have seen better times, and it pains me to see people buying all sorts of canned crappy foods and refrigerated crap, as well as clothes which are either destined for the third world, or came from there a few weeks ago. There is ALWAYS a line at the registers, usually there is ONLYONE register open, and there are staff wandering around, not looking like they are doing anything but wandering around. I guess if I had to work there I would wander around also, who in their right mind wants to work those registers or answer questions from bewildered shoppers like myself looking for glue sticks in the«stationery» department [I found 4 for $ 1.I hope they aren’t all dried up]. The other day the line at the register was 8 deep, and this guy who was talking to no one in particular [I thought he was on a cell phone], was arguing with the cashier that he didn’t have any money but really needed those 30 cans of spagegtti-o’s, and when I walked up to the cashier and handed her my credit card and said«I will cover it», she snapped back«mind your own business and get back in line». Well, I was intimidated, and the cashier was like 350 pounds and didn’t look like she was trying to be funny, and the other employees who wander around doing nothing just wandered in another direction. I left feeling badly about that guy who was talking to himself and couldn’t get his canned spaghetti, and as I drove off in my new Audi A6, I remembered why I don’t like to go there. It’s just #toodamndepressing. And the staff/employees are oppressive. And mean spirited. It’s located in the Rag Center. That tells you something, right? Next to Goodwill, which does not exist in the employees I have encountered.

This is an interesting store with a very odd and random selection of items and not at great prices at all. Most items are $ 3 — $ 5. They do have some good items like roasting pans in all sizes for $ 1 and cards and party supplies at a good price.

I give this Deals location a 3 star rating! If you’ve ever lived in New York, you’re probably familiar with the concept of a 99cents store! Jam packed with random necessities all under $ 1…(in this era, I’m pretty sure there are plenty of people who are looking to stretch their dollars). :Enter Deal$: Located just about a mile from the FAU campus, its an ideal place to swing by and pick up some household, arts and craft, random tidbits at a comparable lower price then let’s say Walmart or other entities boasting a reduced price. There is something for everyone. While not as a great as its partner store: Dollar Tree, it is a welcomed contributor to shopping in East Boca.
