Extended Stay America – Boca Raton – Commerce

I wanted to try an Extended Stay hotel, partially because I was on a 7 day trip and I didn’t want to have to eat all my meals out. I used to live in the area, and there is an exceptional fish market in Deerfield Beach (the next town south of Boca), and I wanted to make my last dinner at the hotel. The location is very good, freeway close and easy to find. The room was clean and comfortable, but quite small. It faced a man-​made lake that looked a bit murky. The afternoon/​evening staff was very accommodating and friendly, but the morning staff was adequate, and the first morning, he was missing while many of us waited for fresh coffee. The rooms are not all equipped with kitchen items– you have to go to the desk and basically get a bucket of plates, cutlery, frying pan and pot. They also do not have daily maid service, which is fine with me, but you have to exchange towels at the front desk. Everything worked fine. The main reason why I didn’t score this hotel higher was because of the very small room. I would consider staying here again.

Making a reservation on the phone should have been my warning — I sat on hold 15 minutes the first time and when I tried a second time it was longer.
The hotel is close to a train rail so you get vibrations throughout the day and night. The cheap towels are well worn and there is no daily room service so you get to re-​use the cheap towels.
The TV didn’t work — but I figured out that it had been unplugged. The phone didn’t work and they promptly replaced it with another phone (that still did not work). Breakfast was coffee grounds in a cup with coffee — they had to remake it — and it still tasted bad. The cheap cupcake in a plastic bag was better in the garbage, but the apple was fresh.
On check-​out the man was barely willing to speak and never offered a copy of the bill.
If the hotel didn’t cost over $ 100 per night I would not have felt so ripped off.
This was my first and last stay in an Extended Stay.

I don’t ask for much in a hotel room but this location is the worst Extended Stay I have ever stayed in. The room is so small there is not enough room to place a night stand on each side of the bed. The kitchen is average for this chain but the drawers and cupboards are bare — no plates, cups, utensils, nothing. A tent card on the counter mentions these things are available on request. There isn’t even a coffee pot in the room. The refrigerator buzzed on the floor, creating a hum that was hard to ignore while trying to sleep. I adjusted it twice but it kept finding that sweet resonant spot. At sunrise we were awakened by several little dogs yapping at each other nearby. Not a quiet place by any means.
For $ 145 a night, we are done here.

Spoke to a customer service person when I got home, and got no satisfaction. I’ve heard other locations are fine, but I wouldn’t return to this one again. You can’t expect anyone at the front desk to give a hoot that your bathroom doesn’t work or you have no kitchen utensils. Just don’t stay there.

So I just checked out. The bug on the bed I wrote off as a tropical insect is, in fact
a bed bug. See photos for bug and filth. Why I didn’t look it up online when I first squished it just says what a trusting person I am. I took the tissue out of the trash (they have housekeeping for an extra fee, I didn’t realize this at time of booking) and took it to the front office. It’s a good thing I’ve been keeping my luggage at my parents place, or maybe it would have become infested. Checked into my a better place for the next three nights for double the rate, I’m worth it.

Stayed here once and didn’t like it. The room itself was nice but it wasn’t ready at the check-​in time. After killing some time for a couple hours while I waited for my room to be ready, I checked in. When I got to the room, it was dirty, it reeked of cigarette smoke, and there were full ash trays and ashes in the bathroom sink. I called the front desk to complain. I told them I would be going out to meet someone in an hour and to send someone then. I told them to make sure they did something about the cigarette smell. Instead, they sent a cleaning crew right away. I tried to tell the cleaning crew to come back later, as I was leaving in an hour and in the mean time I just wanted to relax because I was tired after traveling all day. The guy in charge of the cleaning crew rudely explained that there was a shift change so they either clean my room right now or it’s never. The room still smelled like cigarette smoke when I came back later that night.
