I am really impressed with the quality of the food in this tiny restaurant. Super Dave smokes everything in the back in a big olé barrel smoker, and it is succulent and rich with the taste of hickory. For lunch I had the pulled pork with sweet potato fries and a side of slaw. If I had one picayune complaint, it would be that the pulled pork comes to the table already sauced. The pork, however, was absolutely delicious. The sauce is a hybrid between eastern and western North Carolina, with a distinct vinegar taste. Dave told me he takes the pulled pork, drizzles it with a touch of bacon grease, puts it on a flat top to crisp up the bark, and then serves it either as a sandwich or a dinner plate. Either way it was scrumptious. The sweet potato fries were excellent, although I would have liked them a bit more done. Next trip I’m going to try the ribs, plantains and brisket. If they’re cooked anywhere near as well as the pulled pork, I’m in for a treat! The fried chicken at the adjacent table looked great as well. Last, this is a tiny restaurant with only 5 or 6 tables. I also want to stress that the place was spotlessly clean. You might also consider calling ahead to order your food so it’s ready for you when you get there.

Huge portions! Great Mac and cheese. Came with a groupon was a little disappointed that it could only be used on limited items. But food was good.

For Caribbean style food this place is a 5 star IMO! So happy that I stumbled across it due to Groupon as I would have never known it was there despite my prior Unilocal searches for local take out to grab for work lunches. I got Conch fritters, cracked conch, conch salad, fried okra and mac & cheese. Yes, it was Bahamian feast time! Everything was great and evidently made fresh right there! The conch salad was the best I have ever had, very tender properly tenderized conch and perfect seasoning balance with fresh veggies! Coworkers got the burger, brisket sandwich and wings and everyone agreed that there was nothing but pleasure coming from Dave’s food!

Last night 5 of us went to try the food at Super Dave’s Diner in Boca… and all 5 of us were as impressed as we could be by the delicious and authentic soul food and barbecue served here… as stated in earlier reviews here, it truly is a mom and pop type of small restaurant(others used the term hole in the wall)… well, that is usually where the true gems are found as far as culinary discoveries go… at least that has been my experience thru the years… Well, everything that we ordered during our meal lived up to our expectations… full of flavor, plenty of food in each serving, and the smallness of the space adds to the cozy feeling, as well as the music being played and the friendly service of the staff… there is plenty on the menu to choose from, nobody will leave hungry… prices are very reasonable, I disagree with other reviewers who complained that the prices are too high… I had one half pound of brisket with collards and black eyed peas and cornbread, and the charge for this was $ 11.99… not bad at all in my estimation… you have to remember that the fare here is ‘the real deal’, not some chain restaurant cranking out 100’s of meals at one time… and there is a big difference… We will definitely be going back again and again, so glad we tried this little gem yesterday evening…

Food: 4.5 Price: 2 Another Unilocal discovery aided by some very helpful reviews. Must have driven by this place so many times never noticed it until I came across it on Unilocal and used GPS to get there. lol. My primary motivation was to try their Curry/Stew and their sides since its a restaurant that does a huge exhibition of the culinary skills of founder who is also chef. Since we were getting out lunch to go, we called in to place our to-go order. Now, first question to ask them is if they still have Curry Chicken. It gets over pretty quickly and I don’t they make it again for the later part of the day. This time they did have it. She also asked my to pick two sides as they come with it apart from rice and cornbread. Ok, so far so good. I din’t have a clue about the sides so just ordered things that sounded interesting: Fried Okra and Coleslaw. Again, its going really good. «Your bill is $ 10.60!». Really??? This was going to be my second most expensive Curry Chicken after eating something that was not even remote to Curry Chicken at Calypso Bar. This being the first time for the sake of new place I agreed. Its literally a hole in the wall. Some folks might argue that that’s’ where gems are hidden. Inside there are about 4 tables. The counter is right ahead. It has a vintage feel to it to put it best. As I walked in, they had the order ready and packed. Dave, sitting at one of the tables acknowledged, smiled, and nodded for the Curry Chicken order. «I’ve seen him somewhere» I said. The girl behind counter said«Yes, he is on the front of the menu that you are holding». LOL The food looked good and appetizing. Yes, will have to agree it was unique in a way even though it was just curry chicken. The rice was dark brown with pigeon peas. Nice and fresh, probably one of the finest rice I’ve had at a Caribbean restaurant. The Curry chicken was really good I savored each bite of it. The chicken was extremely soft and tender. Too good. Taste was good and it made it way to my list of top 5 curry chicken in SoFlo. The only problem I have is it was not boneless chicken. Maybe should have asked them. I pop a fried okra in my mouth and it was fresh and while the outside batter was fried perfectly the okra within was fresh and green. The coleslaw was good. The cornbread was average. Overall, if it were not for those steep prices, it was a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. Prices dinning experience aside, for me it comes close to RockSteady. But that’s already too much of a bargain. Somehow my other colleagues got interested and want to order the next team lunch from here. I don’t see my self going in for a dining experience yet. Lower prices or «real» lunch specials might motivate to me change my mind though.

Food is still very good with the exception of the sweet potato fries which were a limp mess. Not so resonably priced anymore. Prices are higher than Mississippi Sweets or Park Ave. Ribs are especially high. Great[and expensive] hamburger and excellent pulled pork.

What’s a vegetarian doing at a soul food barbeque restaurant? Having the fried catfish, of course. This is not the typical filet, but the WHOLE catfish, misus the head. I’m very picky about my catfish and have found very few places that can compare with my beloved Dixie Kitchen in Evanston, Illinois. Super Dave’s does super catfish. My husband had the rib sandwich, which he devoured. The only comment was that he would have like more sauce. As we were leaving, we could see that the«regulars» had asked for more sauce and were provided with a nice-sized bottle. The staff is great. Very upbeat and so friendly. The restaurant itself is in a very uninspiring strip shopping center, but the food and staff make up for any shortcomings.

I found this place while cruising on Unilocal and read the reviews and decided to go for an early lunch. Like most said, it’s a little hole-in-the-wall(which I love), but if you blink you can drive right by it. I got the pulled pork sandwich that came with cole slaw(very good) and fries. The sandwich was really good and smokey and he told me he smokes the pork out back. I liked it, but like others, I would have wanted more BBQ sauce. I guess I could have asked for more, but I didn’t. They don’t have any BBQ sauces on the tables, maybe they should. The fries were just institutional grade frozen and fried. The size of the sandwich wasn’t huge and I think the prices are a little high for this type of place. I will definitely go back and try the ribs.

There’s been some buzz about this place and based on the few people who have reviewed it, I was tempted verified the authenticity myself, minus the white guilt of course. Today marked my first and hopefully not last experience I had at Super Dave’s Diner. Upon walking it I immediately thought of the scene in I’m Gonna Git You Sucka where Chris Rock orders not a slab of ribs, but just one rib. Every stereotype that came to mind was perpetuated today. No air condition at all, just fans blowing. Judge Joe Brown blasting the big TV. There was a bunch of Jesus pieces all of the wall and of course the friendly banter between the lone waitress/cashier and the chef. Which include a memorable«you bests butter my mans bread.» It was like Big Shirley from What’s Happening resurrected right before my own eyes. That’s the kind of sh*t I want out of my soul food restaurant. The minute it becomes commercialized or dare I say white friendly I get turned off. I want my restaurant experience to parallel the taste of the soul food. Since Tom’s Ribs closed in Delray, this area hasn’t had a real soul kitchen. The closest I’ve experienced that is even remotely worth the drive is Tom Jenkins. The prices here are bit out of touch. 1⁄3 rack of ribs are $ 11.99. ½ rack is $ 15.99 and a full rack was $ 21.99. That’s just extravagant. The restaurant is not in a desirable location and it certainly doesn’t warrant those high prices. Because of said prices I opted for the pulled chicken sandwiches($ 6.99) which came with slaw and fries. I upgraded the slaw to mac and cheese for $ 2 more. I don’t mess with slaw, that’s amateur hour but I will f*ck up some mac & cheese like no other. The chicken was tasty and you can tell they pride themselves on their sauce, but I will say sandwich contained a little more fat than I would have liked. Decent sandwich though. My friend ordered the pulled pork and he enjoyed it, though he did say he would have rather been able to dictate the amount of sauce to put on it. Apparently, they serve you the meal with the sauce already drenched on it. The cornbread was disappointing because after the meal came he suddenly realized after a timer(microwave) went off and that he never received his cornbread. Sure enough, his cornbread was delivered. Microwaves have no business ruining cornbread. Great cornbread is a must for soul food restaurants. It’s like a Jewish deli not having a good pastrami sandwich or an Italian restaurant not having chicken parmigiana. Cornbread is a staple in soul food kitchens and this one was lacking. Overall I liked it, I didn’t love it. I’m willing to give their chicken and waffles a shot, but those rib prices need to come down because I know the average person isn’t walking up in there ordering a $ 21 slab of ribs for lunch. Especially when PABBQ is down the road and gives you a full rack for just $ 10.99 on Mondays. Super Dave’s Diner has potential but I’d like to see some recession friendly prices on those ribs and better cornbread for sure.

Super Dave’s Diner is really your only soul food choice in boca whether its chicken and waffles for breakfast or their famous marinated hickory smoked ribs or renowned tender sliced smoked beef brisket and cracked conch. But theres so much more like Louisiana style fried catfish, chicken wings with«Super DAVE» sauce, and pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwiches. They also serve fried tilapia, and Super burgers and turkey burgers. Their sides include: mac and cheese, collard greens, potato salad and more. The place is too small and hard to find so just call them as it is better to order for pick up or delivery Also the are closed on Sunday as its the Lords day! PS last night I saw that they came in second at the Boca Burger Battle losing by just a few votes to the winner of 20 burger places which reminded me to write the review

I enjoyed it. Good spot for chicken and waffles, if you’re not in Atlanta. Friendly folks. I only tried breakfast, but I will definitely be back for ribs, as I saw them being prepped.
