A must stop when we visit Bodega Bay. The owners are always super friendly, the wines are great and the views are breathtaking!!! Love this place and their dog friendly ways

Super cute gift shop… fun wine tasting on the deck. Great view of the harbor. P. S. I heard they’re moving to the old ‘Sandpiper’ location on the west side.

The wine selections are good but the service was just lousy and unpleasant. The woman at the cashier was very abrupt and rude. Go somewhere else where you can really enjoy the wines with great ambiance and friendliness.

We randomly ended up stopping to pick up some wine on our way back to San Francisco after a couple days in Sonoma. Instead of continuing on to Hog Island Oyster, we stayed the whole day! It was great — beautiful little shop, friendly owner, good tastings and free shipping for wine orders. The best part was that we arrived on one of the days where they had $ 1 oysters, which is unheard of for this area! Highly recommend a stop at this little bayside shop! Have a glass or a couple bottles and enjoy the view. Also, this was the place where they filmed the movie The Birds — random factoid.

Slam on your brakes at the tides and you’ll slide into the parking lot of this incredible tasting room. I was sold when I saw the healthy pour of the $ 10 flights on Unilocal so the fabulous gift shop came as an added bonus. The buyer has great beachy, chic style that I love! Kick back and relax at this gorgeous spot along highway 1 with the views of the bay.

They carry a good variety of wines from a many regions, not just Sonoma. Their flights of three are a great way to sample unfamiliar wines while you watch the sea life from their outdoor deck. They also sell by the bottle if you are looking for the perfect accompaniment to dinner. Service was pleasant and attentive.

Quaint and beautiful little wine bar right off the Highway 1. It’s easy to miss so keep an eye out for the purple sign. We came inside and were greeted immediately. We didn’t have to wait for anything. We got two flights to share– the white and the red. Like others have mentioned, the flights consist of three generous tastings on a little wooden surfboard. Each flight is $ 12, and each individual glass is $ 10. We sat on the deck outside, which faces onto the bay directly. So beautiful! You hardly realize that there are other people around you. My boyfriend and I are not normally white wine drinkers, but we ended up loving the whites and we both ordered a glass of white after our tasting! Our collective favorite was the Sauvignon Blanc that was served. The service from both the woman and the man behind the bar was great. We were looking for a nice place to have dinner, and the man that was working happily called for a reservation for us. We couldn’t think of a reason not to give it 5 stars.

I loved the view here and the service was very friendly and accommodating. Our phones were on its last percentages and we aren’t very proficient on backtracking our way back home without Google Maps. They happily charged our phones for us while we took in the sunset with a couple of pretty good wine flights.

Service and friendliness 5 stars all the way! The lady was so nice and she has this really adorable dog in the back make sure to say hi!:) she helped us pick out a wine along with our two wine flights. We got one red and one white wine flight. You get a menu of what wines you’ll be sampling and you can really taste the flavors that are described in the menu. You can’t choose which wines you want in your wine surf but I wouldn’t complain. They’re all diverse and delicious and the view!!! The view is amazing. Perfect for taking lots of pictures the ocean view is breathtaking.

Wonderful little wine bar with a patio that overlooks Bodega Bay. Good selection of white, rose or red wine by the glass or if you have a group, purchase a bottle and pour. Very relaxing on that patio, warm sun, 65 degrees, sipping nice wine with a killer view(including seals bobbing up and down) of the bay. Whats not to like :). They have events during each month, yesterday(March 6) was dollar oysters. Beautiful, briny oysters with a yummy mignonette for a buck a piece. Big time score. If you prefer bbq oysters, they are 2 bucks each. The shucking starts at 4:00pm until they run out. We like to come here for a glass of vino(and enjoy that view) before dinner at a nearby restaurant. Which reminds me, if you purchase a bottle of wine here, a host of nearby restaurants allow free corkage for that bottle, just show your receipt. A very nice deal.

Cute concept, cute deck area overlooking the bay and cute surfboards. The«surfs» are #12 for three tastings with medium sized pours. I liked the wines but didn’t end up buying bottles as they are in the $ 25-$ 30 range. The store itself is really adorable and definitely worth a look around. I ended up the chardonnay(7⁄10), the pinot noir(8⁄10) and the cabernet savignaun(8⁄10). The only unfortunate part was that the guy behind the counter was not especially friendly. I think the number one rule with wine tasting locations is to kill the customers with kindness so they feel guilted into buying some wine! With a little bit of coddling I probably could have easily been persuaded into buying a bottle or two. The other thing to keep in mind is that this place is considered a bar so people under 21 cannot go out onto the deck. Kind of a shame as we had come in as a family and my littlest sister couldn’t enjoy the outside but hey, laws are laws.

Love this place! It’s the perfect place for wine tasting(or wine surfing), as you get to overlook the beautiful Bodega bay. Their wine surfing costs $ 12, but you get pretty decent sized pours. Their outdoor patio is adorable. The first time I came here, we saw these 2 seals playing with each other in the water. Perfection. I deducted a star, as the service here is not the greatest. Both times I’ve come here, I’ve received the impression that the guy behind the counter really did not want to be there and did not want to serve us, which is fine, but really added a negative impression to such a cute place. Note: the outdoor patio is 21 and over because it’s considered a bar.

This is a great modern but cute little wine bar right on the bay. A «wine surf»(aka wine flight) is $ 12 and you get a tasting of 3 wines. You can mix and match between reds and whites. They are generous pours. We also ordered the cheese platter that comes with crackers, almonds, dried cherries and one cheese of your choice. There is a great outdoor patio area in the back that overlooks the bay. There is both a covered patio and an open patio. The owner(I assume he owns it) was very friendly and warm. We didn’t feel pressured to buy anything.

This is a delightful stop while in Bodega Bay. Can’t beat the location for a glass of wine while you sit on the deck looking out over the bay. Bottle prices are reasonable and I welcomed the assistance and recommendations of Casey. I have driven by this shop many times and so happy I finally took the time to stop in — I highly recommend that you do the same.

Bodega Bay is a cozy coastal community with fresh seafood, beautiful parks and scenic views. Gourmet au Bay is a great hidden gem. A quaint shop filled with local specialty gifts as well as delicious 90 point and small lot production wines for you to to enjoy sipping just feet from the waters edge. You have a choice to select from their ever-changing flight menu. Bring some truffles or chocolates and enjoy tasty wines on the outdoor patio as you watch the sun fade over the hill, very relaxing!

A lovely wine shop in beautiful Bodega Bay focusing on wines that are from small makers, gold medal winners, scoring 90 points or higher. Most under $ 40, with many selections in the $ 20 range. In addition to bottles, they have glasses available from their daily wine choices, typically 3 or 4 each of reds, whites, and dessert wines. You can also get a «surf» tasting of 3, 2 oz pours, of those wines in a cute surfboard shaped glass holder. They also have a beer available. On our visit it was Laguintas IPA available by the glass. We tried a number of their wines and came away with a lovely Gamba Family Zinfandel from the Dry Creek Valley and it came with a card to waive corkage charges at the Duck Club Restaurant where we were headed for dinner that evening(other local restaurants corkage waivers are also available).

A great place for a nice relaxing wine tasting of either a red or white flight. I love their surf board wine glass holders! Super clever. The only down side in an almost perfect experience was the current white wine selection of the flight. Honestly though the wine doesn’t trump the amazing experience of sitting on their deck overlooking the bay on a quite and peaceful relaxing day just putting my feet up enjoying watching the seals bob their head out of the water back and forth.

Cannot wait to return to this spot on a sunny day! It was a little muggy outside, but not too cold. Sitting outside overlooking the bay with a flight of wine on our table was so nice. The wine wasn’t the best thing I’ve ever had, but they were very drinkable, and it looked like they have a rotating wine list. Definite recommendation!

Wow, what an awesome little place! We almost missed trying it out because it seems so unassuming in its spot on Highway 1 just past The Inn at Tides and right next to Patrick’s Taffy. Sooo glad we made the snap decision to stop here :) The parking lot is small, but luckily we found an open spot. We walked in and were warmly greeted. The gift shop looked intriguing, but we were focused on tasting some wine since we were parched from our looong(not really) drive from Sacramento. Anyway, turn right after you enter the front door, and you’ll get to the tasting area. For $ 10pp, you get to select either a «wave»(aka, flight) of red or white wines. Perfect, since I’m all about white, and Hubby’s all about reds. You get three pretty generous pours of three selected wines, placed in a surfboard-type plank/tray, which you take and walk out on the back patio that overlooks the Bay… nice! My whites consisted of an albarino, a sauvignon blanc, and a chardonnay. My fave was the Chime Chardonnay. I should have bought a bottle, since my Unilocal check-in would have afforded me 10% off the $ 24 asking price. But, I missed my chance… might have to hit up BevMo! or Total Wine for that chardonnay because I REALLY liked it. Hubby liked his reds, but he had already purchased a ’99 Zin from our great visit to Point Reyes Vineyards. All in all, a GREAT little place in Bodega Bay. We will make it a habit to hit up Gourmet au Bay every time we’re in the area. so it WILL be an annual tradition :)

Two words: Hidden Gem. I’ve driven by this place more times than I can count, but while visiting Bodega Bay this past weekend on one of the most gorgeous days I’ve ever seen in my life out there(in January no less – the upside of a drought) we decided to stop by. I’m glad we did – we walked in and saw some great wines and decided to do 2 wine flights. $ 10 each, but the pours are fair and you get to sit on the back patio and overlook the bay. For 1 hour of our time and 6 little glasses/tastes of wine I would say it’s money well spent. The wines they have for sale are a good selection – yes they are not a «good deal» but they aren’t unfairly priced either. It’s a small wine shop in Bodega Bay, it’s not a big box store in the middle of a large town. Well worth the stop next time you’re driving through town!
