Love how you can bring your dogs! A very nice hike with a great view during the spring-summer season! Only saw one person during the very short hike and only a few families/couples on the beach! Can’t wait to go again because this is one of the few beaches around the bay area that allow dogs!

Fun little hike down to a lovely little beach. Follow the beach west a bit and go through the cave(if tide is low enough) to enjoy Doran beach!

Tranquility and solitude is how I would describe Pinnacle Gulch. The parking lot allows for a handful of cars and is directly across the street from this trail. When you begin, there is a descent with stairs and then continues onto a dirt path. The trail contains beautiful foliage which warrants taking some photographs. It is about a ten minute hike to the beach. The beach itself is spectacular and a hidden gem. Whenever I visit there are not many people and allows one to truly enjoy the Pacific. I love hearing the roar of the waves and the chirps of the birds without the noise of cars or people. This is the perfect escape from city life. My general hike/walk is exploring the beach end to end and taking the Shorttail Gulch Coastal Access Trail(a steep hike back up some stairs and a dirt path) to Mockingbird Drive and returning back to the parking lot Overall it is about a 3 mile enjoyable hike.

Love this trail and beach. It feels completely remote and is a perfect place to bring a water-lovin, tennis-ball obsessed dog. Or just a book and blanket. The fact that the beach isn’t accessible immediately from the parking lot makes it quieter and nicer than it would be otherwise and weeds out the noisy families and people who might detract from the peaceful atmosphere. The mile hike is peaceful and serene. Coming here on a sunny NorCal Sunday is what weekends are all about!

This is by far one of my favorite beaches in bodega. It is quiet, dog friendly, and has a wonderful little hike which I think is the best part. if you are looking for a nice relaxing day, and a little exercise, definitely check this place out. Please remember, there are no trash cans at the bottom of the trail so be sure to carry back up any trash brought down to the beach. Lets keep this place beautiful. :)

~~~~~ Poem To The Beach ~~~~~ NERUDA: It’s a requirement to only read you on a beach. Pebbles of sand peppered amongst your pages. BILLIEHOLIDAY: A perfect soundtrack to a sun setting scene. PELICAN: Hover, glide, and kamikaze to the blue. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat… WAVES and SAND: Hypnotizing and warm under my feet, legs, and back. BUOYBEACON: Marking time with audible graduations – metronome style BLUE: Ocean & sea married on the daily cycle ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is a Sonoma County Public Beach Access Point at Bodega Bay. It’s off the beaten path in that you have to drive through a golf resort neighborhood to get to the trailhead. If you park at the trailhead, you have to pay a $ 6 parking fee. There is a 0.5mile hike down the Pinnacle Gulch to the beach. This particular stretch of coast is south of Doran Beach and is sort of isolated(depending on tide). The trailhead parking area has restrooms, water, and a recycling bin. If you want to find a place a little more secluded, this may be just the spot.(we found out about this spot because we rented a house right near the trailhead.)
