This place is by far my FAVORITE candy store! The owner and all the staff are the nicest people you could meet! I have been going there for years and they make me feel like family. I am always greeted with smiles and an amazing atmosphere. Their candy is delicious and their fresh taffy is mouthwateringly delicious. They have a large variety of candy and taffy flavors, and an awesome selection of kites and toys. I think it is impossible to leave this store without a grin on your face.

Second Wind is a combo candy/toy shop — a real genius idea if I do say so myself. While I steered clear of the frisbees and kites, the buckets full of salt water taffy up front instantly grabbed our attention. We got ourselves pomegranite, Oreo, bacon, and a bunch of other unorthodox flavors for dirt cheap. Definitely worth paying a visit to, if only to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Last minute(3 days before Christmas), I was desperately searching for a quad stunt kite(Revolution Zen) for my husband for Christmas. The kites are handmade and usually special ordered. I was calling kite stores and happened to call Second Wind. in Bodega Bay, CA. Elaine was amazing. Not only did she locate the kite(probably the last one in the country) but also had it shipped expedited to arrive by Christmas. And she paid the extra shipping cost! How nice is that? Whenever my husband needs kite stuff(and that is often), Second Wind will be our first stop. Thanks Elaine.

Always has great taffy and candy! Taffy costs about $ 5 a pound and is always interesting and delicious. And the kites are so fun to look at!

Love this little gem of a store. I like the combination of vintage type candies with salt water taffy mixed in and some fun little gifts. You walk in and feel fun.

Upon arriving at the store, there was a couple in the store whom the employee was working with. She spoke pleasantly and they seemed extremely hospitable to them. When they finished, I greeted her politely and seemed to get a suspicious grin with a head nod. I shopped for about 10 minutes and not once did an employee ask me if I needed any assistance. A family of about 8 people arrived and they were immediately greeted with a «welcome», and a basket full of sample candy. She proceeded to offer the candy to everyone in the store. My wife turned to me and said, «let’s try some»… I noticed the lady seemed to purposely ignore and avoid us. I told my wife not to to ask for a sample to see if they would ask us. It seemed everyone who came into the store after that was greeted with smiles and free candy. She continued to ask everyone except us. We then proceeded to pay for our merchandise. Total of $ 15 with of stuff. While paying for the items, «2 sand trays, and a bag of rocks for my daughter.» She told my wife that my daughters bag of rocks would not completely shut so she would charge us $ 1.00 more, also my wife put 2 sand trays together and reminded us that we did have 2 trays and not 1 so we would be charged for. 2. I noticed that she wasn’t as friendly to us as she was to the other customers that they were dealing with. My wife, my daughter, and I happen to be Filipino Americans. All the other customers there happen to be Caucasians. Whether or not that had anything to do with it, I felt that they really treated us differently than the other customers. I felt that she seemed to have a sense of mistrust towards me and my family and really don’t feel we were giving any reason to treat us the way she did. I will not return to this place.

Great place for fun toys and satisfying a sweet tooth. Very cool collection of nostalgic candy and the taffy selection is amazing! The owner is wonderful and seems to always engage visitors with a pleasant smile. We visit Bodega Bay several times a year and this is always a must-stop for us.

I absolutely love this place. The largest selection of taffy at the taffy beach when you walk in is the best I have seen. From fun toys and kites to nostalgic candy to the caring employees makes Second Wind a MUST stop when you are anywhere near Bodega Bay.

There was a flag I regretted not buying at Second Wind and I wound up calling to order it. It arrived today – a beautiful multi-colored flag – along with the sweetest note from Elaine and some taffy to boot! I love this store and these people! Go out of your way to THIS shop if you’re looking for a whirligig for your yard, a flag, or anything colorful. It will give you a second wind when you come back from your trip and hang it in your yard!

We got to Bodega Bay around 4:30PM on Saturday after spending the day driving up Stinson Beach, eating lunch in Inverness, and stopping to stock up on cheese at Cowgirl Creamery in Point Reyes. When we finally made it to Bodega Bay, we decided to head straight to the beach and fly a kite since we’d been promising it to our son all day. Since we’d forgotten to bring our kite with us, we were happy to find Candy & Kites down the street. Fast forward to 5:45PM and we’re driving towards our hotel fuming in frustration. Turns out we never got to fly the kite as we didn’t assemble it properly. The scene involves me trying to fly the flopping kite while both my wife and I screaming at our kid to drop the damn shiny new stick he found on the beach. He eventually complied and buried it in the sand. Only then did we realize he had been holding a key part of the kite. Errrr… loser? As we drove towards our hotel, utterly exasperated and in a foul mood, we noticed Second Wind on the right appeared to be open. We stopped and my wife went in to describe our debacle. While the store didn’t carry the exact stick for our kite, the staff happily made one for us custom and on the spot, despite the fact that she was getting ready to close. We also found some other fun trinkets here at Second Wind. We bought some dice for the game LCR, a beautiful postcard to remember our weekend getaway, and a fridge magnet which my son collects. The kind woman who helped us even gave our son a bag of Jelly Beans and made him promise he would never bury the kite stick in the sand again. My wife, son and I couldn’t be any happier as Second Wind truly saved our day and our weekend. We flew that kite the next day and it soared thanks to Second Wind!

A friend of mine told me to come here and ask for Elaine — she is so friendly! My husband and I came to Bodega Bay for the weekend and we got 2 hanging kites and a windchime. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely re-visit when we are in the area.

What a cute little store! On a drive down the coast hubby and I stopped by here to pick up some Salt water Taffy. It was quite early when we got there(just before 10am) and they things were still being set up out the front of the store so I guess they open at 10? But the staff were really friendly and offered a sample of the Taffy. Having never had it before I was eager and YUM! Taffy is $ 5.99 per lb and I choose a small selection of about 1⁄3 of a lb. There are around 20 different flavours to choose from along with other candies and chocolates. They also have a fairly large selection of toys, kites and inflatables and have a daily $ 5 special.(Todays was a Halloween decoration usually priced at $ 12.99). Definitely a good place to pick up some goodies if you’re visiting the area.

I grew up around here and have been going to Candy and Kites for years, that was before Second Wind. Second wind has friendly staff and a good selection of candy(especially salt water taffy) and kites. I find that the prices are also better than Candy and Kites. I also feel the arrangement of the store is more comfortable and easier to shop. I Think Second wind will give the same memories to my son that candy and Kites did for me.

Very nice folks here. Great selection of taffy. Though they had many similar flavors, I thought the selection was better than Candy & Kites. The parking lot is larger and easier to manage getting a spot than at Candy & Kites as well, though not as «prime» of a location.
