B & E 99 Cents

I agree that this store is a welcome addition to the neighborhood! The owner & staff are very friendly and helpful, although there is an on-​site security worker whose ominous presence seems a bit over the top for such a small store. The selection of goods is great although its typical off-​brand dollar store stuff. Stock levels seem a bit low on some items. That being said, I’m still able to do a good bit of household shopping here & I save quite a bit over nearby big box drugstores whose prices are skyrocketing because of all the wealthy new residents in this area. I would have given them 4 stars but took 1 additional star away because on my last visit, I noticed that I’d been over-​charged for an extra item at $ 1.09. I’ll chock this up to human error, but will certainly keep my eye out for future overages. I’m happy to support a new minority-​owned small business in this neighborhood, but not at the expense of getting over-​charged.

This new 99 cent store is really great and much needed. With Walgreens recently closed, Atlantic Avenue needed a fast go to place to pick up quick items like soap, paper towels, etc… I am so please with this 99 cents store– they even have some «go to» things like eggs for $ 1.69. All their prices are very decent and they have name brand things for much less than other neighboring pharmacies. I will be returning often.
