This has been my go to place for coffee before or after soccer practice at Gardner Webb. The Good: very good coffee/coffee drinks The Bad: chairs are getting worn out with stuffing coming out and stains. And the below experience… My first time here was two weeks ago. A young man was the barista and he was slammed. It appeared that he was the only one working there. He was a bit frazzled but took everything in stride. I thought«How could they only have one person working on prime time on a Saturday?» The line kept getting longer and longer, he had to ask our drink order again, regular coffee(not difficult). It was quite a long wait for a simple cup of coffee. Finally, fifteen minutes later a young lady stood up from a table nearby and went to work as the cashier. She had been working on/playing with her laptop while her colleague was literally drowning in work. I know that everyone deserves a break, but if I see a co worker struggling, I would take my break later and help out. My second experience was better. The end.

Love this place! Had to stop by Gardner-Webb for a meeting but wanted to start my day off right with a good latte latte. I definitely was not disappointed. The staff is GREAT! So friendly and willing to give their suggestions. Everything is freshly brewed and tastes just right. They also have fresh baked goods which are delish! I tried the blueberry scone and it was the perfect way to start my day! The latte and raspberry sweet tea are also great. Plenty of space for group meetings or if you want to take some time to do some work on your own. They’ve done a great job with this coffee shop and I love it! Support small businesses! :)

I’m not an easy guy to please(Read my other reviews) but this place is fabulous. Whether it’s in Spartanburg or in Boiling Springs this place has consistently good coffee. The food is also fair to partly good with the croissants being flaky but also like they’d been in the case a bit longer than normal. This location is across the street from Gardner Web University which means all manor of collegiate students and faculty frequent this place. If you’re on your way to civilization and pass through this little hamlet in Western North Carolina if recommend it to break up travel or just to spend a few hours getting a coffee.

Nice staff, cozy set up. Best iced coffee I’ve had… no cream needed! Coconut macaroons are delicious if you’re into that. All around good spot to grab a cup and get some relaxing work done.

It’s hard not to like the place much less love it. The ambiance, the coffee, service; all above par. And hey, lets face it, it’s not«Stardollars» which means your really supporting the local economy and a community contributing small business(which is cool if you’re into that kinda thing). But seriously great coffee!

So Ill give this place 3 stars based on the more or less arbitrary reasons listed below. 1) I was on my way home from a stellar day of bouldering at Rumbling Bald and in a super good mood. 2) I was happy to find any coffee, period, between Chimney Rock and Charlotte. 3) The girl at the counter told me I had a solid mustache, and that it takes a real man to rock such facial hair. Sweet! Anyways, the coffee was nothing spectacular and if not for my aforementioned mood and the mustachee comment, I might give the place two stars based soley on coffee quality, but Im not feeling objective today. Don’t get me wrong, if I had to choose between here and Starbucks, I wouldn’t choose Starbucks, but Broad River provided pretty much your standard run of the mill cup. Not bad, but not memorable. The coffee tasted slightly scorched, like it had gone a hair too long on roaster, and the flavor profile didn’t really bring anything special out of the beans. I didn’t see a roast date, but it tasted a tad on the stale side, like it had been hanging out in the carafe a little too long. I opted for the medium roast, but it was a little beyond medium. I do have a cold, so that might have affected it, but everything I’ve been brewing at home is still delicious, so probably not. Anyways, the café itself is really cool. There’s a common area, as well as some more secluded tables, and a small upstairs overlooking the floor plan. They had some rockin looking goodies in the bake case as well, I didn’t try anything though, since Id been stuffing my face with cookies all afternoon at the Bald(I regret nothing). Long story short, it’s a total 6 mile detour off the main drag on the way home from RB, I’ll be making the loop pretty often on my commute home from the blocs. Im happy they’re there. And Im happy that on account of my mustache I can consider myself a real man. Im going to go bend things now.

The coffee is great, and the atmosphere is probably even better. I’m really glad I stumbled across this place.
