They never turn or rotate frozen food. Frozen food can be good for years, never the less, last 4 times I bought frozen food, the finished product was hard as a rock and completely freezer burnt!

Albertson’s isn’t usually my first choice when it comes to groceries. The Vista location in particular is just okay. Their prices are more than their competitors and the selection isn’t as diverse in the things I shop for. The thing they do have that is better than most is the craft beer selection, but then again, Brewers Haven is right next door which is the bee’s knees for beer. Let’s just say if you need vinegar and eggs on Thanksgiving morning, Albertson’s will do in a jam.

Albertson’s are generally more expensive(except in So Cal — Vons wins there). This location is between the airport and work location, so it’s convenient to pick up snacks, bandaids, breakfast foods etc. The staff is very friendly and helpful and will actually walk you to the item you are looking for.(FYI naked juice is by the salads, not by the juice on the other side of the store). The fact that there is staff to be found is a bonus as far as i am concerned! The parking lot is large and easy to get into from either direction. And about the prices — there will always be places and things that are cheaper etc. I like that i can use my credit card, that there isn’t a loyalty card, and that many locations are open till midnight. But even at home i shop 3 different stores to get all the deals and things on sale. For me, it’s useful and has the items i need, in and out quickly!

First a nod to the previous whiners(I mean reviewers) with the exception of Emily S. DUH! Gee Albertson’s is expensive compared to Winco and Wal-Mart? I never knew! This is why there are other stores. Personally, I no longer shop at Albertsons for anything except meat, and sale items. But I can say that the Vista location is clean, bright and well organized. PLUS I love that there is a Starbucks there! If you are a couponer(I am) or just need a few things. this is a great place to shop. And a beautiful location to boot.

As Boise residents are no doubt aware of the high prices here, this is more for the new transplants or incoming BSU students: if Albertsons was one of the cheaper grocery stores in your previous neighborhood, be prepared for some sticker shock here. I grew up loving the Lucky supermarket chain– prices were cheap, and the service and quality were good. Even after Albertsons bought them up, I still found Albertsons to be the cheapest chain store in L.A. What a shock to move here and see things turn 180 degrees. And I thought it would be cheap here given Boise is home to its corporate offices(UPDATE: used to be home as I’ve since found out. SuperValu bought the company). I feel guilty shopping at Albertsons. I have a store within a short walking distance, and I only go there if I need to quickly pick up a thing or two, not unlike going to a convenience store(with convenience store pricing too). The rest of the time it’s WinCo WinCo WinCo. They try to make up for the high prices with cleaner stores and great service. And in that they succeed for the most part. I also prefer the meat and some produce here to Winco. But only when it’s on sale. When many of the items I purchase at WinCo are regularly $.50-$ 1 cheaper than Albertsons(even when Albertsons has a sale on those items), good service can take a back seat for me.

Extremely expensive for a retail chain. The average item is twice the price of Walmart or Winco even basic items like bread and milk.
