Let’s be honest, reviewing a medical facility is not something that someone regularly, but I think it is a great way to educate fellow future customers or patients. There are not a lot of choices when we are talking about issues with our own ‘plumbing’. I have been to both locations in Boise and quite frankly DHC is the best in the business. It was here where I had my first procedure and due to being out of insurance coverage I went to the other location. Suffice to say, the other location was a nightmare experience. The only good was that they were flexible in regards to payment since I did not have insurance at the time. When having a colonoscopy, the prep work is ALL of the work. The actual investigation into your colon is nothing more than taking a nice a nap and waking up like you are hung over from a raging party. The prep work depends on your plumbing. Some people can eat all week long and start their prep the day before and people like me, need to stop eating a week prior and start the prep days in advance. So, Here is some helpful information in regards to working with DHC. (1) They are very polite and very helpful in regards to paperwork (2) Their instructions are very clear and simple to follow (3) On the day of, the take in staff including the front desk people to the nurses are very caring and very professional. They know that patients are not comfortable talking about what they are going to have done let alone wanting to do the procedure. (3) All the Doctors are personable and caring. My favorite is Dr. Sam Gibson. He’s one cool cat. I had him the first time many years ago and had him again yesterday. He remembered conversations that we shared the first time. It was very re-assuring to be in his hands. The after process is very caring as well. All the nurses definitely want you to be ready to go when you are and you are not considered to be «the next in line» I thoroughly recommend DHC on Emerald for any Gastro issues. They are the best when it comes to your plumbing!

At the risk of TMI, I will abbreviate only to say my husband had two procedures here spaced three weeks apart. It is never fun to need these procedures, but at least the administrative and medical staff prevent them from being a pain in the patootie. Metaphorically speaking. From his first call to schedule his first appointment, through follow up for appointment reminder and sending«preparation protocol» information the staff was top notch. When he needed a second visit that required a special protocol and prescription products used, they did a great job of managing the pharmacy orders too. There was also organized check in on ‘day of”. As for the medical procedures, my husband had all good things to say about the professional care from and bedside manner of Dr. Schutz. As the patient’s spouse I had a good experience with the doctor on two occasions of getting my questions answered.(And nice guy that he is, Dr. Shutz didn’t even hold it against his fellow native New Yorker patient that my hubby is a die hard Yankees fan(atic) while Dr. Shutz roots for the Mets.) The nursing care in the recovery room was attentive and efficient both times. THIS N THAT: Big waiting room which is lined with patients and people waiting for patients and which has free wifi with password provided at desk.

I made my appointment which was scheduled in a reasonable time. The inital staff was friendly. I then met with Dr. Schutz. I did not feel comfortable with the information I was given or felt that he was listening or understanding me. He told me to change a few things and they would call back in two weeks and go from there. Approximately 4 weeks later, I finally got a call back with the nurse asking how I was doing. I told her I wasn’t feeling better but that I wanted to be seen by another doctor as I didn’t feel comfortable with Dr. Schutz, the nurse indicated that I could not switch doctors and that all the doctors were of the same opinion, which I wasn’t sure what was. At this point, I’m not sure what to do. I have heard and see good things about the clinic from Dr. Tanabe and Dr. Mallory, and with only two digestive clinics in town, I’m currently evaluating my options.
