Lit & Co.

I first went into Lit & Co. when my friend and I got the time wrong for our movie. It smelled wonderful, and we decided to book an after hours ladies’ evening. We brought food and drinks and invited a bunch of friends. The owner was welcoming, funny, and very helpful. The selection of candle holders and scents meant that all of my friends created something unique to them.
I love shopping locally, and the owner definitely takes pride in this idea, too. The already made products are very nice quality. I’ve given candles as gifts, and I have yet to hear a complaint! The candles burn well for a long time and leave a pleasant (not overpowering) scent. One of my favorites is the satsuma, a nice Japanese orange scent. There are also seasonal ones that are just divine.

Fun date night event that doesn’t take a whole lot of time. 15 – 30 minutes tops* and you end up with an awesome keepsake. Plus, it is amazing how the candles smell like their descriptions.
*You do have to come back in an about an hour (or the next day) to pick it up. It’s candle wax. It needs to cool.

Lit & Co is a great, local candle shop right in the heart of BoDo. They offer all natural soy candles in something like 80 scents. Upon entrance, you are immediately transported by the gorgeous scent of the place.
What is it about a particularly lovely scent that can shift your entire mood?
I don’t know. But, they should bottle that.
Which, as it turns out, Lit & Co has – in the form of pretty, pretty candles. They sell medium sized candles for roughly $ 14. But, if you buy 3, you get the 4^th free.

What IS an Awesome Box, you ask?
Well, my people. It’s awesome.
It’s 4 candles of differing scents for $ 25.
Here’s the kicker: you don’t have any idea which scents are contained in any given awesome box. The box is totally impenetrable. You can’s see in it. The candles have lids, so you can’t try to smell them through the box. The only guarantee you have is that there will be 4 candles and they will each have a different fragrance.
It’s all just a bit of a gamble.

I mean, who doesn’t like to roll the dice every now and again? And, what’s better than a box of fabulousness that has an element of mystery? Plus, a bargain!!!

Espresso (delicious – makes my entire kitchen smell like a coffee bar – in a good way)
Nag Champa (a little strong – sandlewoodish scent)
Grapefruit & Mandarin (so yum… springy and lovely)
Cedar (who doesn’t love the scent of cedar? fabulous)
Or, you know, they have tons of scents you can sniff and carefully select from.
That is definitely a way to go as well.
