Not a big fan of bartenders who over charge for drinks. 3 shots…$ 12.00…close out my cc and it’s now $ 30.00!!! Friend buys 3 shots, $ 30.00… Total scam! Lame!

Great neighborhood gay bar! People are friendly, staff is nice, outdoor smoking, good happy hour prices and lots of fun weekly events like karaōke.

This is one of the worst gay bars I’ve been to. The establishment itself is decent looking, that’s the only thing ok about it. I went two nights in a row, Thursday/Friday, the bartenders were grouchy, they didn’t make specialty drinks, and the drinks they did have were priced as if you were in San Francisco. Also, I had a person pick pocket me there and stole my phone, just after 20 minutes of being there. There are only two gay bars/clubs in Boise, essentially. If you’re going to go to one, skip this place and go to The Balcony Club; it’s right in downtown and it’s hella fun and classy. This bar should be called the Unlucky Dog; I’ll never go back and you shouldn’t either.

Well by most gay standards I am hideous… but while on vacation I thought that I would hit up the local flavor… I went to this gay bar. I was VERY pleasantly surprised. it was clean and reasonably priced. VERY efficient and pleasant service. the music was ambient and not the typical club type, not that there is anything wrong with that either. When I go to a gay bar I stand there alone people watching etc. without many people to approach or approaching me. but not here… lots of guys to visit with I had SO much fun while in Boise. looking forward to a return visit!

Best gay bar in Boise. One of my biggest beefs with Boise and Idaho in general is their lack of «no smoking» policy for the bars. Can you believe it’s 2011 and a city like Boise still allows smoking in bars? Anyhoo, my first comment on the Lucky Dog is that smoking is relegated to the outdoor covered patio — there is NO smoking inside the bar! BIGKUDOS to Lucky Dog for that. Second, the staff here is super friendly and remember me every time I come back here(I’m in town visiting the folks 3 or 4 times a year). Plus, it’s a pretty cool mix of people: about 2 parts gay dudes, and 1 part lesbian. All types of queers(kind of like what you see in your smaller cities, like Boise). You got your bull dykes and lipstick lesbians, you got your twinks you leather daddies and your bears(and the fag hags). All are welcome here. And, unlike San Francisco or Seattle or LA, the people here laugh and seem to like each other, as opposed to being so serious, etc. High marks — 5 stars. If you’re visiting, stay at the Red Lion across the street so you can stumble back to your room and drag your boy toy with you :)

Nice bar. Convenient to hotels for the traveler great bartenders. I’ve never seen it extremly busy but I only get there about 8 times a year.

The new location of the Lucky Dog is pretty nice, for a Boise gay bar. There are a couple of dart boards, lots of seating at the bar, pool tables, and a game room where people play a lot of guitar hero, among other games. The game room is non-smoking and has comfy chairs. The drink specials aren’t bad, and the bar tenders are usually nice.
