I love this place so much! They always have fresh fish and it also tastes fresh too. If you are not a fan of sushi then there are plenty more options on the kitchen menu. My favorite in the kitchen is the Teriyaki Chicken with miso soup. My family and I always come when we are in the mood for sushi or just whenever! I’ve been okay with eating sushi but this place pushed me to try new things and what do you know? I will actually eat raw fish now! Anyways the people there are so kind and attend to your every need.

I am usually a bit wary of sushi places that serve their fish on a rotary belt or boats that float in uncannily blue water. I went here on a recommendation from my sister, and I wasn’t disappointed. The quality of fish was not bad, but I wasn’t overly excited about it. I’d say it was of middling quality. If you’re afraid of fish that’s been circling the bar for who knows how long, you can also order from their menu where they have a variety of rolls and other miscellany. The nice thing about the rotary belt is that you can select what you want to eat as it comes by as opposed to ordering and waiting for your dish to be created. You also know precisely how much you are going to be spending, as there is a great color-coded chart you can reference to see how much each plate costs. I have been here a total of three times and it’s not bad. It’s a good place to go for lunch if you have a little bit of time, but not so much that you want to go to a traditional sit-down restaurant. Their service is good. If you are on the fence about coming here, just do it. Give ‘em a try. You will probably walk away with a better experience, happier taste buds, and a fuller wallet than the other place you were considering.

I had really high hopes for this place and unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. After looking at their advertisement video and pictures on Unilocal the place seemed really nice but the ise ons we pulled up and saw the place I began to feel weary. When we walked in we were greeted only by an awful The fish was far from fresh, I would say closer to nearly expired… I am still terrified the food poisoning will hit anytime now. The prices were also outrageous for the low quality, I could have gotten a huge, high quality meal from Shige at that price. I will say my friend ordered the chicken teriyaki and it was decent but other than that everything we had was old and very poor quality.

$ 23 for track sushi at lunchtime and I didn’t even get full… quality not off the charts either.

Shady Con-artists!!! The hosts told me when I sat down that the red and purple plates are same price for the lunch special, she even pointed to the purple plate on the menu. When I went to pay, the check had it at regular price. I told the waitress that the hostess told me the red and purple were the same price. The waitress said«No, only red and pink.» I said were is there pink? There is only red! The hostess lied to my face and said she told me red and pink. I said«No, you told me purple was the same price as red. Where are the pink plates?» I just said forget it. I’m not coming back. I gave a tip for the chefs. They were nice, but the hostess and waitress are shady

Looked for a sushi restaurant since I travel around a good bit, and always excited to see what the local area does for food. Found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try as it was less than 5 miles from my hotel. This is what the name says, a rotary sushi place. 6 different plate colors, 3 different prices. There are between 3 – 4 pieces of sushi rolls on a plate, but it’s not without some criticism. I went on a Wednesday night around 7pm. I could tell the rolls had been on the rotary for quite some time, as some of them were definitely room temperature. That’s a huge health violation! I only had 2 plates of sushi like that before I thought I was better off ordering from the menu. So I ordered an Angry Birds roll, which came out entirely too fancy. Put in a bowl, with a martini glass in the middle, with dry ice and a flashing ice cube for show. I was embarrassed to get it. Was good value for 8 pieces, but I don’t need show, I want my sushi to be unassuming and not flashy. When I had arrived, 3 different people asked me what I wanted to drink within 30 seconds of sitting down. When it came time for the check, I had to basically wave someone down to get it, you would figure if I didnt order anything after 10 minutes of sitting there, and didnt grab more plates, that I would have been done. Apparently no! Overall, it’s a great concept for the area, but I would not come back. Room temp sushi is a huge red flag for me and if I want to get sick eating food, I’ll stick to Chipolte!

Good sushi just not a lot of selection on the rotary. Their special sushi though on the other hand is amazing from the presentation to the taste! If anything always try their specials as they concoct some really good presentation with great flavors.

Worth going when it’s crowded, but unfortunately the food does sit around for a bit if there’s no crowd. The sushi is good, but is actually kind of pricey! I would recommend going during happy hour or on weekend nights only. I live a block away, so I really want to like this place!

FOOD: Mediocre sushi. There were only limited options and they looked/tasted like they’ve been out on the conveyor belt for a while. The poor quality doesn’t justify the high price of the sushi. And another warning, I got sick the day after I came here. I’m not saying it’s because of their sushi for sure, but it’s pretty high on my suspect list. PLACE/AMBIANCE: I honestly love the place. Nice décor, clean, and modern. Parking is not a problem since it’s located in a strip mall with huge parking lot. If only the food is as good, this would be my go to spot for sushi. SERVICE: Our lady server was really nice and sweet, but rather slow in responding. The chefs behind the conveyor belt were nice. I was able to tell them what I want off of the menu & they made it right away.

Great sushi in an unsuspecting place. Not only was the rotary, conveyor belt sushi yummy, but the special rolls were unique. Relaxed atmosphere with great sushi. I think Rotary Sushi is the best sushi in the valley. Can’t wait to go back. I would love to try lunch here.

Went here with my wife and our two year old daughter and sat at the bar to watch the conveyor belt go by. The staff was very friendly, the place is clean and bright, and the sushi chef was great to talk to and very nice to our girl as she nommed on salmon and avocado. The quality was actually pretty good. I had a coupon for this place, so I honestly wasn’t expecting much… but admittedly I’m a bit of a sushi snob having been spoiled by the likes of Chiso, Umi Sake House, Mashiko’s, Maneki, and Sushi Kappo Tamura in Seattle. Seriously, if you ever have the chance to eat anything by chef Taichi Kitamura, you best freakin’ do it! We ordered nigiri — saba, hamachi, unagi, escolar and a naruto roll for us, and we grabbed a few plates of California rolls and sake(salmon) for the kiddo from the conveyor. All were«fresh» — I use quotes because all sushi sold in the US must be frozen first except for Tuna — and tasted like they should have. The Surimi was a little off tasting, and my daughter certainly didn’t like it, but that’s what you get for ordering random fish pressed into a fake crab form :-) The Naruto roll was actually rice free, using only a thinly sliced cucumber as a wrapper, which was fun to watch. Other than that, pretty standard presentation and execution of dishes — which isn’t a complaint. All in all, a good experience, and fun for our daughter. We’ll go back.

Rotary Sushi is in the same complex as Grand China Buffet at the corner of Five Mile and Fairview. We saw the sign as they were putting the restaurant together and knew that we had to try it. If you love sushi and you live in Boise the idea of sushi floating past you is nothing new. However, instead of a moat, Rotary Sushi follows the lead of bigger cities(or its originating county) and places multi-colored plates of sushi on a conveyor belt. You pick what you want and pay according to the color of the plate. Or, you can order rolls, tempura, teriyaki, yaki udon, soup or salad off the menu. We ordered a kani(crab) salad and a salmon skin salad off the menu. Both took some time to come out of the kitchen. We also tried several plates from the conveyor belt. Plates range from 1.99 to 4.99. At three pieces per plate, if you are sharing between 1 – 4 people, it’s either just right or too little. Also, the cost adds up quickly. However, we used a coupon from which took $$ off our bill. The sushi was very fresh — the sake(salmon) was exceptionally so. The salmon skin salad was delicious with *crispy* salmon skin(just the way I like it!). The kani salad was very tasty. The food alone gets five stars but I’m taking a star away for how long it took food ordered off the menu to come to us and for total cost. Even with a coupon it was pricey. Of course, this is raw fish we are talking about. I will gladly pay top dollar for sushi like Rotary’s, but unfortunately I can’t pay it as often as I would like. Final verdict: worth a splurge if you have a hankering for sushi and have the extra dough in your pocket.

Let me just start by saying: there are NOT a lot of sushi options in Boise. I was pleasantly surprised to see some really good Unilocal reviews for a conveyer belt sushi restaurant. So I decided to head there. Lunch. Party of 1. The restaurant is located in a strip mall– so plenty of parking.(Which really shouldn’t be hard to find in Boise, but to a Seattle girl, this is amazing!). I arrived at the restaurant at about 11:30am and I was pretty much the only guest there. The sushi chef & staff were incredibly warm & friendly. They were talkative when I looked lonely and left me to myself while I was sending out some work emails. The sushi itself was surprisingly fresh. I had the salmon sushi & tuna sushi(2 pieces each). I also tried a spicy tuna roll(3 pieces) and the crazy roll(3 pieces). The crazy roll was delicious. Shrimp tempura roll + cream cheese. Definitely not healthy, but at only 3 pieces, go ahead and indulge! Part of the fun is you can try some sushi rolls/fish that you wouldn’t normally order since the serving sizes are so small. Overall, good(not great) sushi. Very friendly service. Large open dining area. Very clean bathrooms. Would definitely make this a regular lunch spot if I lived in Boise. Great if you’re looking for a quick lunch

I might have given them another star for having a liquor license. Diappointing when you see it on the menu but they tell you there is no sake nor beer available. The novelty of the conveyor belt bringing sushi to you at the bar is pretty cool, but the choices rolling by weren’t exactly of high variety or interest; just your basics. Now this was a Wednesday night and I wouldn’t expect them to have their top billing out for the small number of patrons there tonight, so perhaps it’ll be worth a weekend evening with friends(once they have the liquor license). Overall the sushi and rolls were somewhat bland, however, and with other more enticing options for sushi in the valley Rotary will have to step up their game in order to lure me back. For those reviews claiming this as the best sushi they have ever had, I would recommend exploring more.

I was wanting to go to a Japanese sushi bar that has a rotating train. I think this is the first ever I’ve been to in Boise. I could grab least 3 – 5 different type of shishi plates I liked on the train. The location is close to my workplace. If the price point per plate was cheaper, I would be more often come here for lunch.

Took my daughter and friends there for her birthday. It was was quiet for a Sunday afternoon, but there were still other customers and take out orders going out. VERYGOOD sushi. I’m not a huge fan of salmon negiri, however it was great! Everything we tried was fresh and tasted fabulous. The calamari salad was delishious. Just the right amount of heat with thinly sliced red chilies. Everyone loved the Crazy Roll. They even made beautiful orange art for my daughter dessert. We will DEFINITELY be going back. The only thing I can be negative on is the carpet. It was dirty, and I HATE carpet in any restaurant.

I was craving sushi one night and after seeing the reviews of this new place, we decided to give it a try. We arrived about 7pm on a Wednesday and the place was dead. One other person in the restaurant but that didn’t detour us and we didn’t have to look hard for space around the rotary. Once we were seated we were promptly served bowls of miso soup and our drinks. The rotary belt is pretty straight forward. Pick any items you would like off the belt and the prices you pay vary depending on the plate color. They do have a full menu you can also order from and the chefs will also make any specialty roll you request. They do not have a full bar but did have a few beers(mainly Coors Light and Bud) and sake on the menu. For starters, we decided to grab various things off the belt. This is super nice because everything is ready and you don’t have to wait for something to be made so I think this would be a perfect lunch spot or a place to get a quick bite if you are in a hurry. I did have to wonder however how long these items have been on the belt. There were many items on the belt when we arrived and were still on the belt an hour later. Who knows how long they were sitting there even prior to our arrival. The belt was also not cooled so the food temperatures of the items were mainly room temp which concerns me a lot when eating raw fish. I asked one of the chefs what do they do with all the food on the belt that doesn’t sell and he said they either throw it away or take it home to eat themselves. We also ordered a couple specialty rolls from the chef and the presentation of those rolls were really fun. They made plate designs from the various sauces they have. All in all, we thought the food was good but not mind blowing. It was comparable to a few other nice sushi places we have in town. There was a significant language barrier with the staff and trying to order things and trying to have a conversation proved a little difficult. However everyone was friendly and very attentive to our needs. My girls decided to try the Japanese ice cream for dessert. The ice cream came in either mango or green tea flavor and they opted for the green tea. I have to say this was the oddest ice cream I have ever put in my mouth since the invention of Dippin Dots, but still a delicious ice cream experience. Between our tower of rotary plates we consumed along with a couple specialty rolls and dessert, it set us back for a family of four, $ 78. We were all stuffed when we left needless to say. The waitress brought us a punch card as well. For every $ 30 spent, you get a punch on the card and once it is full, you get $ 30 off your next meal. I have never seen a punch card at a sushi place! We did get a chance to chat with the owner towards the end of our meal. He said he only orders premium sushi grade fish but I will say some of the yellowtail we tried definitely did not taste premium. Another earlier review mentioned their sushi chef made them a special yellowtail that was not on the belt but when I asked our chef about what yellowtail dish he recommended, he pointed us to the rotary belt. The owner has really put his blood, sweat and tears into getting this place up and running. He mentioned all the obstacles that prevented him from being able to open on his target date but I’m glad he was able to push through them because I do think he has something different and special here.

I loved my first time at Rotary Sushi. The food was delicious and the staff was really nice. They even joked with us and explained about the food. My sister-in-law was a baby about trying Sushi but they recommended a very mild roll and she liked it. It’s a nice quiet place and is open all the time so you can come whenever you like. It’s hard not to leave without wanting more.

Yay. A new sushi place that doesn’t suck. My exclamation point key is broken right now, but believe I’d be using it if I could. Joe and Leon rock. Their sushi isn’t blow your mind amazing, but it more than does the job and there is plenty of it. The crazy roll and some standards, like CA and spicy tuna rolls, were more than solid. Plus, you can snag little plates of seaweed and ika salad, two of our favorites. Salmon nigiri was excellent in flavor and texture. The one drawback was kind of tough, flavorless yellowtail nigiri. We can’t wait until they have their liquor license, so we can basically live here. They didn’t give us grief about bringing our baby, who was admittedly well behaved, but most of their employees talked to us about him and gave us congratulations. Service was prompt and very friendly, and we will be back here, I assume, every time we want sushi. I’ve never liked a rotary place this much.

I’ve been anxiously awaiting the opening of Rotary Sushi and for good reason. It is open and absolutely amazing! It is located in the shopping strip on Fairview and five mile.(Across the street from K mart) Don’t judge a book by its cover or in this case the restaurant from the outside. The inside is very modern and upscale décor. Very comfortable! Service is prompt and friendly. Food is fresh and fast. Sushi chefs are busy at work in the center continuously preparing sushi and sashimi for the rotary belt where you pick up whatever you want. Plates are color coded by price so its easy to eat good on a budget. This is also great for trying multiple rolls without the hefty price of ordering a whole order. I just can’t say enough about this place it is that great! Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
