Taco Del Mar

The grub was grubin and the service was spectacular good job tacos Del Mar. Found them in Hawaii so glad to see them in Boise. Had the wet Mondo burrito as always was really good

Didn’t see this one coming… tucked away on the street side of a mini-​mall, squirreled away between a bunch of corporate junk and an Albertson’s, is this gem, slinging up very wonderfully portioned and tasty lunch offerings. You’d never, ever go there for dinner, unless you were a fool (not sure it’s even open for dinner), but for lunch, this is hard to beat. Inexpensive, filling to just the right level and reasonably flavorful, if you need something quick, this place is in definite consideration, should you be in the area. I wouldn’t drive to it as a destination or anything but they do a great job and wait staff is very attentive and it really makes the entire experience a highly pleasant one. This is a place that gets it, as far as lunch goes.

I’ll be easy since this is the first real bad review I’ve ever left. The lady behind the counter had the most monotone «how can I help you» I have ever heard in my life but at least she greeted me. I’m from California and this was the closest place to my hotel on my visit to Boise. I asked her what she would recommend and she looked at me like I was crazy, so I rephrased: «what is your most famous meal here?» She mumbled some kind of burrito so I said lets do that! And she then asked me what kind of meat, I asked what they had and she again mumbled the options and all I heard was chicken and fish. I figured they can’t screw up chicken so I chose that. Turns out their chicken looks like grey barbacoa. I almost walked away but I still waited to see what else she put in the burrito. By the time she got to the salsa and cheese… she swatted away flies and acted like it was no big deal. I almost walked out right then and there but I worked in the food industry as a teenager and I hated people like that so I stayed strong and paid the $ 7 and change. I decided to go to albertsons and got a huge bottle of champagne. I’m halfway through the bottle and I just ate the burrito. I couldn’t finish it because it was simply too much. It was bearable and edible but definitely not worth $ 7, not even worth $ 3 if I’m being completely honest. I wish I could have a better review but this place is pretty damn terrible and I promised myself I would review everything while on vacation. So there is my honest truth. Hope it helps someone in the future because I screwed up going to this place on a whim and not checking Unilocal first.

Nooooo! Terrible service… Rude robotic actions by employees. Terrible food. Customer service was so poor. Beans are «revived» by girl behind counter pouring hot water on them. We threw oue meals out. Ewwww. So bad, don’t waste your money.

Hmm… We’ve been here in the past, convenient after soccer games, but we’re disappointed today. Kids meal had a tiny burrito with 5.5 chips, with a side of what looked like melted velveta cheese product. The folks behind us ordered nachos, which was covered with this same orange melty cheese product… Where’d the real cheese go?

Very disappointed. The worst was my wife finding a hair in her taco last night (5÷27÷14 21:30) and having the employee deny it was theirs. It’s possible that it wasn’t said employees. It could have been in the food prep station. They did not try to make us feel better (replacing the taco or refunding food). I also personally hate when owners of a TDM franchise are being cheap by only using one corn tortilla. A single tortilla once wet falls apart. I’ve also seen the portions of queso and chips getting much smaller. The men’s bathroom light was out and the women’s bathroom didn’t have paper towels. We normally stop by here on our way back to Seattle. Can’t promise that will ever happen again.

I don’t know why this place gets bad reviews either. The owner and staff is friendly, we go here once a week at least and the fresh salsa is amazing. I would absolutely recommend it.

OH MY GOD — this place was so dirty! As I’m sitting here looking at my food, I’m wondering if I’m going to be sick afterwards. First, the preparation line was disgusting, spilled sauce, lettuce leaves, tomatoes, etc. etc. She actually started building my food on top of old food on the counter, and couldn’t even take the time to wipe it off! It was 4:30, no one was in there except me! A lot of the trays of food weren’t covered, stuff looked old, dried out, not cared for. I said, «It looks like you were really busy today.» She said, «No, not really.» And one of her co-​workers said, «She’s just behind in her work.» The co-​worker was sweeping when I came in, and there was another woman on the phone that looked like a manager, but she wasn’t doing anything.
This place needs serious management immediately. I won’t return, it was GROSS!

No bueno. Cold pork, sauces with no flavor and soap dispenser not working. And hey, how bout not placing the giant table a foot and a half from the front doors. Good thing I wasn’t in a wheelchair!

This is the absolute worst Taco Del Mar I have ever been to. The service was unacceptable. I went with 4 others and we did not sit down with our food for probably 30 minutes. The food was not fresh and the guacamole was older than me. Rice was dry, fish was gross. The workers did not know what they were doing. I will never, ever come back.
They should have paid me to eat there.

I can’t see why this place gets poor reviews. I had the Two-​fer Tuesday Deal (2 tacos, rice and beans, 22oz drink for $ 5.99). The tacos were delicious. All the ingredients seemed fresh and well prepared. I had pork and shredded beef, both of which were tasty. The rice and beans were good as well. For the same price as a combo at Taco Bell, you’re getting a decent, freshly prepared meal. The décor is a little goofy, but that’s a non-​issue in my book. The staff was friendly and personable when I went. I wish I could give Taco Del Mar 3.5 stars, but I’ll give it 4 to offset some of the lower reviews. Bottom line: give it a try. I think you’ll like it.

worst place, should not even be considered a Mexican food Resturant. Example Buritto was $ 7.00 dollars pork was dry the beans and rice came from a steam plate you are better of going to Baja Fresh. the girls were more worried who there were texting then having good customer service i have worked in the resturant business and i would be asahmad to call this place mine, being oringnal from Southern California we need Rubio’s or Wahoo’s which both make there food fresh as you order there salsa bar is amazing and you get as much salsa as you want, not one our 2 handed to you. I well never spend another dime in this place they well be out of business soon

We love Taco Del Mar! We got hooked on it in Oregon, but unfortunately it seems the ones here differ from those in oregon. The food was good as usual, the fish for obvious reasons was not the same as in oregon, but the service was ridiculous. Your always on their time and they are super short and curt.

Worst mexican food ever. Avoid this place like the clap. Cold, burnt steak on the taco salad. Tasteless sauce on a soft taco pretending to be an enchilada. Loud classic rock echoing off of the concrete floor. Dirty floor, dirty tables, ok service. Not worth the price.

Service was friendly. I enjoyed a mondo burrito with chicken and black beans. Fills ya up! Been coming here for years. The food is consistently good.

The food was good, as was the service. Great place to stop into on the way out of town.
