Pairing food with drink is some kind of novelty over hyped trend I’m consumed by, and will never get enough of. I question how a chocolate store stays in business in one of the most obscenely fit cities that’s ever found the pacific northwest. But then I tried their cider and chocolate pairing at first Thursday and realized how empty my life had been until this moment of double dipping the two sinful worlds of alcohol and candy. First the lemon lavender bark, then the Monk’s Café sour ale. I think I moaned and then immediately left the store. Just kidding, I blacked out and when I finally came to I had a fist full of chocolate lemon lavender bark and was driving around like a maniac trying to find sour ale(location still unknown). Will I go back? I hope not. It’s too amazing, and I would need to join at least 5 crossfit gyms just to keep up with my chocolate curiosities. It’s local, homegrown kind of feel is what keeps Idaho on the map. Try them out!

I can’t think of a similar store in town that makes all their own gourmet chocolates and samples them out so freely. Everything about the Chocolate Bar lends to its upscale, yet homegrown feel, and it’s just a nice place to stop in to if you’re looking for a little treat. I’ve received treats from this store as gifts and have also stopped in for an after-lunch dessert. Either way, it’s a win. Food: The chocolate is just superb. They often have seasonal mixes, like a spicy autumn bark or a mint chocolate cookie bark. As they make it all in-house, you never know what you’ll get. The toffees are my favorite selection, with plenty of varieties to choose from! Drinks: n/a Atmosphere: It smells like heaven in there! Service: Super friendly and willing to answer questions and hand out samples. Interested in something new? They’ll give you a sample. Considering buying a little or a lot? Yep, more samples. Yum! They’ll even ask you what kinds of chocolates and sweets you most often prefer and then will suggest options based on your preferences. Happy Hour Offerings: n/a Healthy Hack: There’s no obligation to buy any huge portions! I went in and asked for a chunk of toffee that was about the size of half a Hershey’s bar. It cost about $ 1.00 and I had a delicious little after-lunch treat! An indulgence doesn’t always have to be a go-big-or-go-home situation! Tips: Don’t know what to purchase? They give out samples of anything and always have a rotating sample plate out. Try one or try them all! Also, their chocolates make GREAT gifts!

Great people! They gave us a quick tour and lots of tastes. The owner himself took time out to explain their goodies to my daughter. Even though the place was packed, we got undivided and personalized attention. And the chocolate! Oh, exquisite! The toffee is divine, as were the caramels and truffles. Everything was delicious. Don’t miss this place!

Friendliest experience I’ve ever had at a shop. Upon discovering that I was only in town for a short time, they offered to let me try pretty much everything before I bought it. Of course, everything was good. I’m picky about my chocolate and these guys passed every expectation for smell, texture, flavor, and overall sweetness. I am still enjoying their spicy chocolate, which amazingly made it home(it really is spicy!), but the rest was gone in a day. Thank you and see you next time!

What a way to indulge in good clean organic chocolate goodness. This little shop on the streets of down town Idaho is such a treasure. You can tell the owners of this place are here for more than just making profit and have mastered the art of the chocolatier. With use of the finest ingredients. No JIF peanut butter here! I did come across a dark chocolate lavender pice to bring you into the moment, and the caramel is something never to forget. Thank you for putting the effort into this magical art of chocolate your doing it right.

This shop does amazing work! I love so many different chocolates that I can’t pick a favorite, but whenever I stop by I make sure to get the Hawaiian salt caramel and the blueberry dark chocolate. These are so good! Their chocolate blend is delicious. I love dark chocolate and The Chocolat Bar has a dark blend that had the perfect amount of sweetness, without losing the intensity of the chocolate. Well done!

I visited The Chocolat Bar while downtown during First Thursday. I ducked in for a wine tasting/chocolate pairing event. Afterward I went to the counter to see what the shop was offering. I drive by it, almost daily but usually on my way to work. This day, I had time to explore! Beautifully displayed, widely varied chocolates behind the case more than passed the taste test when I bought a collection to eat and share. This is THEGOODSTUFF. I loved the attitude of the proprietor and his staff… very friendly and helpful, indicative of confidence in a great product. Everything about the place was elegant. I’m a chocolate connoisseur from way back and not easily impressed. I’ll be going back for a gift for a special friend. Jeannie Toutloff Boise

I love going here, they have great chocolate, great people, a great location… whether I’m going for a romantic outing or a light-hearted visit with friends, The Chocolate Bar is a great stop. I like to park a decent distance away and walk through downtown Boise and soak up the town before finishing at The Chocolate Bar for a green tea Buddha chocolate or an Aztec Truffle. Even the packaging is romantic! The people are polite and have a passion for good chocolate, I learned a little from them! Definitely worth a stop whether you grew up in Boise or you’re just visiting.

There is so much selection one could easily fall victim to chocolate«analysis paralysis.» However, the staff was incredibly friendly and gave me many helpful suggestions on what to choose. I even spoke with the owner, Kristi — she was an absolute joy and excited to share her passion for her craft. I would love to give this place 5 stars, but having only sampled one chocolate(Mexican truffle! You can’t go wrong!), I must reserve that 5th star until I try a few more items.

If you want to taste heaven eat one of their Hawaiian salted dark chocolate caramels! I have eaten chocolate in France, Belgium, Italy, and Switzerland, and this place sells the best.

OHMAN their cinnamon chocolate was SO good. Loved their caramels, too. And the crazy chocolate bra on the wall! Ha. Only thing that didn’t quite hit the spot was the green tea chocolate(white chocolate ganache infused with green tea) in the shape of a Buddha. Although it looked rad, I barely got any of the green tea at all. The white chocolate just seemed to overpower it(weird, right?). Was there the day before Easter and was a little surprised they closed so early. About 15 people walked in 10 minutes before close to fill up on easter treats! Staff was very friendly and helpful, too. Would love to go back next time we’re in town.

I decided to walk around downtown one fine morning and ran into this SWEET gem! Boy was I glad I went in for a look! Just by the smell alone I knew greatness was in the making. Chocolatiers were at work like little oompa loompas and I was Charlie! BAM! POW! WAM! Chocolate heaven with harps playing in the background. I whipped out my plastic card and bought 1lb wrapped in a nice box as a gift for some friends. Lets just say the chocolate never made it to my luggage. Sorry friends!

This is one bar you can’t get turned away from. And won’t want to! Raging Chocoholics unite. The Chocolat Bar is some of the best chocolate to be found in Boise! Sample?! Yes Please. Oh now just TRY not to go crazy! Poor Truffles never had a chance! What started as a dessert idea became– let’s just skip lunch and finish the box! Savory and sweet: balsamic strawberry Classic melt in your mouth goodness: crème brûlée Surprisingly delightful: lavender bark. Go ahead… get wasted! It’s worth every penny and there is no hangover. BTW– if the staff is rocking out to jams while they make their delicious confections when you walk in, don’t be surprised! I think it’s their secret ingredient– FUN! If ever I’m back in Boise, this Kirkland Peach is making a visit!

THEBESTCHOCOLATE I’VEEVERHADHANDSDOWN.(And I would consider myself a lover, an indulger, a connoseuir of chocolate!) The prices are high at around $ 25/lb but you get what you pay for. The chocolate tops even the best imported French and Swiss chocolates I’ve eaten. My suggestions are the Nipples of Venus truffles and the Lemon Lavendar Almond Bark — so different and so decadent… This place is almost as amazing as… well, you know what I mean ;) Truly, there are no more words to describe the place, the products, the owners, the employees other than a «Woohoo! As good as it gets!» I will support this local, organic company until the day I die!

This place just smells so delicioussssss. *sigh* Okay, so this may be premature to write a review because I technically did not buy anything. However, I DID taste the samples! And it made me wish I didn’t have a yoga class later that day AND wish I hadn’t just bought two pairs of cute(slightly unnecessary) ankle boots. If it were a different day, I would have had an easier time legitimizing paying for gourmet truffles and high-calorie chocolate«bark» :P The presentation had some creative flair… I really liked the chocolate high heels(one was zebra print)…ok im gonna stop because this review is getting too girly for my liking! For reals, I’m like embarrassing myself! My co-worker wanted to stop in and he highly recommended the place. I can definitely see why :)
