Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course

Awesome place. Not for those afraid of heights and you have to be physically able to move well. I’m a woman in my mid-​30s and I jog a few days a week, I was fine. We had 10 girls for a bachelorette party, 2 stopped after course 3/​6, 2 more stopped after 4/​6, we all stopped after course 5 because the park was closing. We had a 1 o’clock reservation and we stopped for a picnic lunch after course 3. You can totally make it through all 6 with a smaller group and you don’t break or take a shorter break.
The guides were very friendly and helpful. I definitely regretted not having gloves, you can bring a pair or buy a set there for $ 3 that are probably only good for one use. Do it.
I can’t wait to get back and make it through the whole course, I hope I can make it happen soon. Have fun!

We visited this obstacle course recently and my group had a BLAST! It actually rained a bit in the morning and we were reluctant to go, but I’m so glad we did. The tree coverage is pretty thick, so barely any rain made it onto the course. Thing were a tad slippery but totally doable, and there was pretty much no crowd at all! The first part of the course is a lot of fun and both challenging and still accessible to almost all fitness levels. The end of the course is not for the weak of heart (or physically challenged!). I fell off on course 4 and didn’t have the guts to continue on, but part of my group finished all six courses and we all had so much fun. This is a must do for the entire family for sure.

Very fun obstacle course. I went with my cousin and my brother and was worried that it wasn’t extreme enough. Although the first three levels were easy, they were a lot of fun. The last three levels were tough. The black course kicked our butts and took the rest of our energy and it was great. A lot of people were relying on their cable to get through the obstacles. We however tried to get through the obstacles without relying on the cables and I found that to be a lot more fun. All in all it was a great day and a lot of good memories of watching my friends struggle.

Adirondack Extreme is one of those places that will push you to you’re limits. This is especially true if you are either afraid of heights or just extremely out of shape. As for me, I’m a bit of both.
I went here while visiting my older brother in Upstate New York and its definitely a really fun and out of the ordinary thing to do. Especially for… you know LA folk and all.
Essentially, Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course is exactly what its named. It is an obstacle course that requires you to balance your way through the trees in Adirondack. You’ll have to do everything from monkey bars, tight rope, zip line, and Tarzan swing from tree to tree.
Each «action element» injects you with shot of adrenaline because each obstacle is located freakishly high off the ground. Sometimes looking down makes your hands sweat haha. Traversing through the courses makes you feel as if you were on the show Ninja Warrior haha.
There are 5 courses (I think) and each one gets progressively harder. Although be warned. If you want to do the hardest course (which the group I went with did), you would have to do all the courses back to back. So be prepared to be extremely exhausted by the time you get to the black (hardest) course. My group started at 9:00 AM and finished somewhere around 1:00 PM.
Some helpful tips are, drink lots of water, use your legs as much as you can, and if you can’t complete the course, just yell guide guide guide and they will come and get you.

We had a blast going through the Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course. I had never been to anything like this before, so I wasn’t entire sure what to expect. However, the staff makes sure that each guest is instructed properly on safety and brings each person through a mini training course before heading out.
I found the first few obstacles are a little scary, but once I got through the first course, I felt much more comfortable. The courses get a little bit more difficult as you move through, and there were a few that were particularly challenging, but myself, my husband, and my brother-​in-​law got through all of the standard courses with no problems.
My brother-​in-​law then decided we had to go through the black course, which is an extra $ 5 (he had something to prove — LOL). A word to the wise — the difference in difficulty between the hardest «standard» course and the black course is huge! There are several warnings before the black coarse stating that it’s going to be very difficult, requires a lot of upper body strength, and is only for very fit people. I am sad to say that I did not make it through the full black course, and had to have one of the guides «rescue» me from an obstacle I got stuck on. The guide was very nice in doing that, first offering me advice on how to get moving on, until I told her that I was definitely not moving and wanted to come down. She never made me feel bad or that I shouldn’t have been on the black course to begin with, even offering that it was her opinion that that particular obstacle I was on was the most difficult of the black course. The boys, however, were able to complete the course, themselves even stating how difficult it was.
This is definitely something I would do again next time we are in the Lake George area. But next time, I’ll skip the black course.

My review is strictly based on my experience with my 7 & 8 year old boys. I checked out the brochure and saw there was a junior course for 7 – 9 year olds. My boys are pretty outdoorsy and daring so we off we went happy to get a 2:30 reservation.
The place is very busy. Lots of groups of mostly adults.
We went in — were handed the harnesses and told to go outside and wait in a line to get the harness set up for us by Ned.
We went out and stood on a big like of about 20 adults. My boys got fastened up
And we went to get instructions. We were not going with our boys so when the detailed and somewhat comics yes instructions were being given to my 7 & 8 years old I knew we were going to have a problem. 20 adults standing in front of my boys — they couldn’t see and foreign words being used like pulleys and carabiners they immediately started zoning out and not paying attention.
I ran (while my husband stayed with my boys listening to the instructions) back to the front desk to double check with the girls there that we were with the right group. I asked «but my boys will have a guide right?» She said yes. I said «these instructions are pretty serious for little kids so I’m just a little nervous but as long as a guide is with them they will be ok, I hope!» She said «yes don’t worry they will break off to the kids course and there is a guide there.»
We finished up Instructions. We stood on a line to do the tiny practice course. No one stood there and helped us. Me and my husband we telling kids what they should do. «Unhook that one! Hook that one! Noooo the red strip should go that way. Now that thing needs to point down! Now that hook needs to go through that heart shaped thing.» Finally on the last part of the practice one guide noticed that my sons hooks were on wrong. So he said” buddy turn that one.” My son tried and really looked lost so that guide jumped up and helped him. Then my son, right in front of him, had both hooks off at the same time. Very dangerous. I start yelling at my son that «the hooks are both off! No!» The guide says «buddy you do that again– you get off the course– don’t do that again!» My son didn’t do it on purpose. He did it because it was too many directions to remember for a 7 year old.
After that we went on to the real course. When we started there was no guide there. So we started. My husband and I droning on and on about how to do it. Confusing them More I think. Anyway… My kids didn’t enjoy it. We didn’t enjoy it. Thank god we had one adult per child because I wouldn’t have been able to have watched both and explain the safety things to both by myself as many times as we had to.
On the course– there was one «guide» on the ground who was just glancing up at them. It was actually at one of the easiest parts of the course.
At the very end after my youngest was about to come across the zip line (which you have to set up the pulley with another hook yourself) a guide came and met him at the end of the zip line. And helped him unhook. Then off he went again somewhere else. Didn’t help my next son come in.
Ohh– I was exhausted. So exhausted I didn’t even want to try to start to find someone to complain to. So exhausted. Not for 7 – 9 year olds that’s for sure. Unless they have experience with carabiners and pulleys.
My boys also barely found it scary it was just more stressful with all the hooks and whatnot.
Everyone else — all the adults and teenagers– seemed to be having a blast. I wish k had a few hours to go through the adults course. That’s why I gave it two stars.

We had hoped to participate in the junior adult course for some father and son bonding, but although my son was old enough for the course, he was not quite tall enough. So he participated in the kids course by himself instead. He had a lot of fun and was permitted to run the course 3 times. The cost of the visit was very reasonable and we hope to return next year for the next course. Great experience for kids!

I thought this was a pretty great value! You can move along at your own pace without having to follow a guide, which is nice, but it’s a bit crowded. We started at 3:00 and only had time to do 4 of the courses before they closed. Some of the elements are pretty intense. I used to work at a camp with a high ropes course with more mental challenges, but this was more on the physical side than our course was.
My hands were so sore from gripping ropes that I couldn’t have handled the 5^th course anyway! I’d recommend gloves if you want to power through all the courses. A camelbak would also be smart so you can stay hydrated up there while keeping your hands free. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for some good clean family fun. It’s now two days later and my upper body is pretty sore. Loved it.

You WILL sweat when doing this! It takes about 3 hours to complete (without taking a break) for the basic course package. Do not buy the gloves, your hands will hurt afterwards either way and the gloves would not help with grip whatsoever. There are several different obstacles, stairways to climb, and zip lines mixed in. Each course if tougher than the last. The guides show you instructions in the beginning, you practice, then go up on your own when ready. It was a challenging day and you WILL be sore afterwards. It was lots of fun though!!!

First half of the review — the course itself is really fun and will test you. I’d come back for that
Second half– the customer service. The ladies at the desk were AWESOME. The guides… meh. One guide, a guy with brown curly hair was very condescending and rude to us and was just very cold to a young guy who needed to be «rescued» on a course.

This is a must do experience if you have teenagers when visiting Lake George or Bolton Landing. Kennis, the owner, was great about making sure we were ready to start. Even though there were a lot of people there, we didn’t feel rushed or like we couldn’t be with our group. The location is beautiful and the zip lines are awesome. Definitely get the gloves. Snacks and water are expensive, so plan accordingly if you are visiting around lunch time.

I’m not the most athletic person on the planet and I’m a bit nervous about heights, so I was pretty nervous when my gf booked this for us. It takes a bit of getting used to, but when you find a rhythm and start to feel more secure in all the safety gear, it gets a lot easier! In the end, I made it through four courses without any trouble at all and only bowed out because of nervousness about the upper-​body strength needed for the last regular adult course. When two of our group bowed out early, we could watch our friends go through a lot of the last regular course from the walking paths below.
We took advantage of the discount for early-​arrival and were very glad to have the head start!!! A bit later on in the day, the park can get very busy, very quickly and having big groups behind you can easily make progressing through more difficult elements that much more stressful.
All in all, it was more a test of courage and balance than physical strength. Still, what a test!!! Easily the most fun I’ve ever had in Lake George.

I’m so glad we tried this! My boys and I had a great time. 9 year old and I completed the first 4 courses. 12 year old also did Red. Great Value!

I was skeptical about coming here, but the challenges and fun certainly exceeded my expectations!
I don’t want to give anything away, but this course was totally unlike any ropes course or zip line I’ve done in the past. You start with a brief safety course and demonstration, and after that you’re on your own. There is zero to minimal supervision up in the trees. You are solely responsible for clipping in to the zip lines and safety ropes and ensuring you don’t lose your life. No one is there to catch you at the end of a zipline or help you cross a wobbly log. Kind of crazy, but it keeps the pace quick and weeds out the slow/​scared people. Not to mention, the natural beauty of the Adirondacks is an added plus! Flying over mountain streams and through beautiful evergreen trees is a once in a lifetime experience.
My dad tapped out after two courses, but my mom and I actually made it to the end! It took a total of around four hours and was an awesome workout. You definitely work your core and burn some calories. I was proud of my mom, she’s in her 60s and easily twice the age of most of the people there but didn’t have much trouble at all.
Don’t miss this place, especially if you’re up for a physical and mental challenge.

Amazing, challenging, fun for the whole family! Highly recommend to anyone seeking a thrill.

I have been coming here with my family for almost 5 years. Being a group of 9 from ages 5 – 45 it is hard to please everyone unless we come to adirondack extreme. Year after year our party group has gotten larger and larger and everyone leaves happy.
The only thing I will advise you to do is print out your directions to the course because gps, garmin don’t seem to work in the mountains.
As always, I’ll return again year after year!

We came here on a Friday in Sept and got lucky there was another group going out because they don’t open the park during the week in the fall unless at least 10 people come.
The first 4 courses are easy to breeze through, the red course was a good challenge and the black course was very challenging (for me), but I did them all (with no help!) =)
This is a treetop adventure so they have you ziplining, tight rope and lax rope walking across to other platforms, climbing ladders higher into the trees, wooden beams, metal hooks, tarzan swings, the «Leap of Faith» — i hated this one, cargo nets and a bunch more, some of which ones that require pure upper body strength.
The great thing is that you feel super safe. I am very afraid of heights, but I never felt like I would fall and always made sure to stay hooked onto something. Even when I was struggling for life on one of the obstacles on the black course, I wasn’t afraid I was going to fall, I was afraid I wasn’t going to finish.
The training in the beginning gives you all the information you need to have to maneuver through the courses and you also go through a mini course to make sure you have it down pat. Andrew was very nice and accommodating.
This was a great time for me and I am proud I was able to complete it. It is tiring so you might need some endurance or be in decent shape. We were with 7 people and only 3 of us got through the red course (the course right before the black) and only my bf and I went through the black. The first 2 courses are connected so it only feels like you do 5 courses. The red course is where you feel it get «real» lol you start it by rock climbing up to the platform where you will need to start. The worst thing on the black course for me was probably those stupid discs (they look like flying saucers when you look up from previous courses) and the «Leap of Faith» because I don’t like freefall sensations. We were lucky too because we had a couple of people behind us, but they decided to not to continue so we weren’t rushed and the guides
Even someone in decent shape could have a hard time because balance, grip strength and body mechanics are very important and can be hard to control on some of these courses, but overall it is so fun! The first 4 courses are great and the red and black courses are great if you want that extra challenge!
Do it! In the worst case scenario, you can have a guide help you and in the best case scenario, you could be part of the «Black Course Elites» (I made this up) who make it through! Either way it’ll be an awesome time!

Thid was definitely a fun obstacle course. I’ve been here twice and I like the difficulty levels they offer for kids and adults. You can move at your own pace. There are staff every where and if you fail to go through with an kbstacle they can bring you down.
If you go to Lake George definitely check it out.

This place is insaneeeeee! I’m extremely happy that my buddy took me here when I was visiting because it was definitely one of the highlights of my trip to Upstate NY.
Now, if you’re afraid of heights, it will take some courage to do this adventure course. I was really anxious at first because I started realizing how high I would be. However, you need to remember that you are always required to be secured to something at all times. So, if anything happens, such as one falling, your line will keep you completely safe. It’s a mind game though… once I got over my initial anxiety about it, it was a total blast.
They a required training course that you must take before you start the courses. You can ask any questions and they will help to show you exactly how to stay secured and how to latch on the tool for the zip line. The staff here is extremely friendly and helpful. Your safety is always the priority and I saw them numerous times helping folks when they needed help.
Once you finish the training course, you’re off to your first full course. There are several courses which you’re supposed to do in order as they progressively get more difficult with the obstacles and whatnot. If at any time, you think that you cannot finish the course, you just yell for assistance and they will come up and bring you safely down. However, if you do this, you’re done for the day. They won’t let you go back up.
These course truly test your strengths and honestly, I didn’t realize how high I was at certain points, but you just get so focused on the obstacle that you can ignore it. This course definitely uses a lot of upper body strength so be prepared. If you can finish the black course, then you’ll get farther than me! Since my group started late, we ran out of time since it was almost closing. Next time, I’ll finish the black course!
Just as a side note, I saw some people with their cell phones, but personally, I’d leave all that stuff in the car because the last thing you want to do is drop a cellphone, wallet, car keys, etc. and it gets lost/​broken in a bush or the small river.
Also, I recommend getting there as early as possible to avoid crowds and probably enjoy better weather. Bug spray (I’m from LA) and sunblock (I’m pale) are important. Always stay hydrated and make sure you at least have some food since you’re going to be burning a lot of energy. Lastly, if you have a GoPro, bring it with you! This is definitely a place where you would want to use it!
Anyway, if you’re gonna be in Upstate NY, you definitely should come here! You’ll have a blast with your friends and family. I hope to come back here next time!

Seriously this was the best thing that we did in Lake George.
My friend and I went to Lake George and she told me we were getting up at 6:30 in the morning to do Ziplining, I wasn’t thrilled but I said what the heck. My friend is an adrenaline junkie and I am someone who never sees inside of a gym so I said to hell with it, let’s do it. We both did not do much research so we did not know that basically it was an adventure/​obstacle course– boy we were in for a shock. Got there paid the $ 34 for the early bird special and splurged with $ 3 gloves, that were totally worth it.
Harnessed up and now the demonstration begins and I am so confused that I even spoke up and told the guide he was talking too fast. I am wondering why he is demonstrating tight roping and ladder climbing and I’m saying to myself ok this is extreme Ziplining and we have to climb really tall trees. Sooooooooo we start off and I’m like what the hell did this girl sign us up for. 5 courses for $ 34 bucks is fantastic but I had no idea the physical strength I would need today, should’ve eaten more than a banana and frosted flakes at the yucky «step up from continental breakfast» from the hotel.
It was a long journey we laughed so hard, we cried and we even cursed each other out a few times but it was the best thing ever. Challenge yourself and experience the greatness that was this extreme Ziplining you won’t be sorry!!!
