Came here as I am always on the hunt for some good, authentic tacos. I got the barbacoa, chicken and al pastor. The Al pastor was perfect! I would be back just for those. But the other two were meh. The beans were flavorless and I was not a fan of their horchata. I was also pretty disheartened with the service. I speak fluent Spanish, so this wasn’t a matter of miscommunication. The waitress was aloof and took forever for just about everything. The place is small, really no excuse for not attending to customers. Case in point, she asked me what I wanted a min after getting the menu. Gimme a couple min thanks…15 min later she comes back. Then when paying, she took my credit card and decided to start cleaning while my credit card sat on the counter. Again, 15 min later I got my card back. I’ll probably be back out of convenience, but not the best Mexico food I’ve had.

The burrito was so small it was laughable! We thought it would be a cheap dinner. We spent $ 17 for two tacos and a burrito with a side of guacamole and chips. The portions were small. The shredded beef tacos were very good and so was the guacamole. It just seemed way over priced.

We had the chicken soup, Chicken quesidillas, which came with tortilla, Pork taco, and Beef fajitas taco. All were fresh and tasty. Unfortunately, they had no tamales. The waitress said there were no fish tacos and then I ask another lady, who spoke a bit more english, who said they had fish. Typically the servers have limited English. But they are very nice. Although this place is in a section of Bonita Springs that looks drab and the location of this restaurant may not look desirable, it’s safe. It has a mini market on one side where many of local Mexican patronize. Food is always good and very authentic home cook comfort food. The 5 stars is based on food. If you are looking for a upscale dining, then this is not for you.

Tortilleria La Rancherita is great. I’ve been there twice since last Friday. I found out about it the Ft. Myers News-Press, after they won the taco contest. Their tacos are incredible. All of their shells are homemade and you can see the machine going in the back as you order. Homemade chips and salsa are served table side. I’ve tried shredded beef tacos, gordita, fajitas and a tamale. They’re all incredible, especially the tacos. Get the sour cream on top. They also serve beer. It is a bit of a relaxed pace, so don’t head there if you’re in a hurry. I did drive past it twice, before I found it. It’s hidden in a plaza next to Sherwin Williams. It’s a tiny place with take-away and a market on one half. The other half has about 8 tables.
Run don’t walk to eat at this place. This place reminds me of the eating establishments in Mexico that I frequented during my year living there. Solid food. Great service. Authentic setting including Spanish shows playing on the tv. Over five separate visits, I’ve not found an item not worthy of recommending. The tortas are as good as or better than I could find in the fine sandwich shops in Mexico City. Two thumbs up for the burritos Another set of thumbs up for the complimentary chips and salsa. Beer prices better than anywhere else in town
