Dinner at this restaurant in November was awesome. Yesterday went for brunch and was not impressed. Our waitress was less than attentive, had to wave her over more than once from behind the bar where she was drinking coffee. I ordered pear crepes and though they were good I came away hungry. Other orders at our table were a good size and deemed good. Would not go back for brunch but would go again for dinner. BTW $ 9 for a Mimosa is too high.

My husband and I dined here last night and had an amazing dinner! Our server, Ashley, did a wonderful job of taking care of us. From the starter, Crab Gratin, to the perfectly prepared Filet… down to the Crème Brûlée and freshly-brewed coffee… it was the perfect date night. This is definitely our new favorite in the Blowing Rock/Boone area! Can’t wait to visit again!

I have eaten there 5 times and we went back last night. I was so disappointed in the service and the food. First let me say that we had a reservation and the hostess greeted us by saying they were closed, I told her we had a reservation and she said they were trying to close the kitchen — we should have left. The waitress spilled ice water on my leg and foot. They brought me the wrong order but my food was good. The Caesar salad portion was very small and lacked dressing. The food was not up to par and we were so disappointed.

Had a super meal at Joy Bistro Friday Night, July 31st, before attending a performance at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts. My husband and I arrived early for our reservation and were nicely welcomed. We asked for seating outside on this beautiful evening and were also acomodated. Our food was excellent. We enjoyed appetizers(moules mariniere and roasted beet salad) and our entrees(rack of lamb and fresh river trout). We finished off the evening by sharing a flourless chocolate torte. It was a packed night for many of the early eaters also were attending the evening’s performance. Our server Katherine was marvelous, she kept drinks and food moving steadily. Next time we head to another performance at the Schaefer we will be sure to add this restaurant as part of the evening.

Great find while in Blowing Rock and Boone. The Salmon appetizer was fantastic and the repair was delicious.

I read some of the other reviews before going here, most are spot on, great work Unilocalers! A little expensive, portions a tad small, food quality, EXCELLENT! Service we had was as you would expect when you pay that kind of money to dine somewhere. I would definitely go back, a real treat and we were on vacation so live a little and enjoy the great dining here. There was some kind of big party when we went there but even with a little noise from them, they were by no means obnoxious or anything for that size group so we still had a great romantic experience with just myself and my lovely girl… She loved it too!

The best place to eat in Boone if you have the $$ to spend. Well worth the price. I or the local trout over a bed of greens. Super delicious. My husband got the burger and it was amazing.

Oh my goodness! While visiting Boone for our anniversary the innkeepers at the Lovill House recommended Joy Bistro for a special dinner. I must say we were totally blown away. The atmosphere and the service we beyond our expectations… and the food was as good as either have ever had. Everything was prepared to perfection and served tastefully. I highly recommend Joy Bistro for a great dining experience. Will definitely be on our list of places to eat whenever we are in Boone.

Food was very good, although for the price I was expecting good service. Wait staff unfamiliar with specials, messed up wine order and never came back to ask if our meal was prepared correctly. Et cetera ad nauseum. Better service at Applebee’s for crying out loud. Disappointed.

We had a great meal at joy Bistro. The ambiance is very nice and the service was great. It is a little expensive but the food was really good. We started with the appetizer of the day which was a house made terrine. They served it with mustard and French pickles. I really enjoyed the flavor and they gave us a huge portion of it. I tried the best brussel sprout salad. It was great. For my entrée I had the duck. The duck was cooked perfectly and the vegetables served alongside were delicious. I tried my husband’s pasta dish which was amazing. Dessert was pretty good. it was supposed to be a hazelnut coffee cheesecake but all I could taste was the coffee. If you are looking for a nicer place to eat in Boone, then I would recommend here.

This is the best restaurant in Boone. Seriously, if you are looking to impress your parents, friends or have deep pockets go here! The food is great. My wife and I have been here four times and each time the food was better than the last. One complaint. It is expensive. Don’t sit outside. Sometimes they forget about you.

Joy Bistro most definitely lived up to it’s high rating! We originally made a reservation for a party of four but another family member decided to join late, making us a party of five. We called about and hour or two before service but they had no problem with our change, which was nice because this was two nights after Christmas. Wine was great, our server was awesome, and the food was off the chain. I had the scallops which were perfectly cooked and accompanied with a sauce I couldn’t get enough of! Everybody else was just as pleased. Hands down best food in Boone.

Went here with family for a birthday celebration. I had a ribeye special, which was perfectly cooked and delicious. My wife had the black and bleu chicken, which she also loved. In fact, everybody really enjoyed their food! One of the best parts was the free cheesy brioche bread we got before the meal. Delicious, and a notch above your usual free bread! The atmosphere is very nice, though the place is a bit small and I suppose could get crowded on occasion. It was pleasantly quiet and not too crowded when we were there, despite having enough people to make it look popular. The outdoor seating looks nice, though you are in a strip mall…

This hole in the wall is incredible! Situated next to jersey mikes sandwich shop at the end of a strip mall. FINEGOURMETFOOD! Good wine selection, and very quaint! I never expected such great food. great service!

A pearl of a restaurant! I feel badly for the folks who suffered poor service. We’ve been there maybe a dozen times, and the food, service, and atmosphere have been excellent. All the menu items I’ve had have been very good to excellent, the servers friendly and attentive, and the place is quiet and intimate enough for a pleasant conversation over dinner. The chef’s specials, for example, the halibut I had last time, have been creative and delicious, and served hot. Highly recommended!

Truly the essence of fine dining. Beautiful presentation and exquisite food. Don’t let mundane strip-mall location deter you. Great personal service & chef/owner was in the back cooking. Drove 1−½ hours there just to eat, on friend’s recommendation. Filet mignon best I’ve had in years. Handmade ravioli with pine nut cream sauce was a delight.

I went here because of tripadvisors rating. i waited one and one-half hours and my entrée still was not ready. My husband and I cancelled our entrees, paid for our martinis and appetizer and left very angry and disappointed. We went to Jersey Mike’s next door because we were really hungry! Even the staff apology was luke warm. I have worked in restaurants and I would have been much more apologetic and probably comped the appetizer.

I. Am. Speechless. This place is AMAZING. I am going to type more so this becomes a review instead of a tip. This place is beside a Jersey Mikes and a Big Lots. WHOCARES. phenomenal food and service. MUSTTRY if you have never been here. If you have you know what I am blabbering about. A true hidden gem. PS. The truffle cream sauce on the ravioli must be made from angel tears. Stellar.

I was really excited to try a new spot when my mom told us she had made reservations to Joy Bistro on a recent trip to Blowing Rock. I had never heard of the place before we went, but she definitely made a good choice! The meal started out with some very good bread. We all got drinks(wine for the parents, beers for my sister and I). They had a really good selection of beers, including a lot of good seasonals, like Dogfish Punkin. The place itself is pretty small, but comfortable. The crowd that was there the night we ate here was very mixed– couples, families and even some kids. It definitely had an upscale, but still casual feel. Our server was very attentive throughout the meal. I ordered the shrimp and grits for my meal. I am a huge fan of shrimp and grits and their version sounded a lot different than the usual kind, so I was excited to try it. They did not skimp on the shrimp, which is definitely a plus. The shrimp was served over polenta rather than grits, which I loved because I am a big fan of polenta. There were also a variety of vegetables mixed in to the dish, like brussel sprouts, carrots, squash and parsnips, as well as prosciotto. I personally will say that I did not like all of the vegetables, but this was no fault of the restaurant as I’d never tried brussel sprouts previously so didn’t know what to expect. Overall, this was a pretty good version of shrimp and grits, but not the best I have ever had. I did enjoy my meal, but would probably try something else on the menu next time. My family members all really liked their meals. Overall, a very good restaurant and a nice alternative to the usual Boone spots, especially for a nice dinner out.
