Tonight my friend was served small shards of glass in his mixed drink. He thought it was a small piece of ice and pulled it out of his mouth after nearly finishing his drink. He felt the microscopic shards like sand in his throat after we left. Unacceptable. What’s worse is when we brought it up, the bartender acted annoyed, dumped the drink, placed the empty glass on the spill mat in front of my friend, poured a new drink and slammed it in front of my friend without one word. As a server, it really bothers me to see someone not care about endangering someone’s health like that. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve frequented a few times as it’s the local dive bar and had a great time. They’ve got a shuffle board and pool, and the drinks are super cheap. They are cash only. Beware and be safe!

Average hole in the wall bar with a table shuffle board, TouchTunes Jukebox(Cost money), and pool table. Only real perk of this place is it’s close to everything in town, as well as sells beer after 10 p.m. Give it a try!

Five stars for being a true local bar. They have held true to the tradition of great beer and drinks at affordable prices. Used to be able to walk there and back from home. If your a snob, stay away, as you probably lack the intelligence to appreciate the place.

I stopped in here when I got tired of the overpriced, glitzy Sharky’s thing. This is where you go if you want to drink beer. Cheap and cold, and they do have Yuengling. Not much in the way of food but the personal bar pie, made off-site and frozen, actually is quite decent. But you’re not here because you’re hungry. You’re here because you just worked a 10-hour shift and your boss is a tool and something’s going to blow if you don’t grab a cold two or three. And if I ever feel that way, this is where you’ll find me.

A solid 3.5(if Unilocal gave ½ stars). I had to think long & hard about whether to give this a 3 or a 4 but in the end decided to stick with the rating system I use to keep myself consistent… Johnny’s is a difficult place to review. The food & beer are average, the service is ok and the atmosphere is pretty much dive bar standard but there’s something about the place. Can’t put my finger on it — maybe it’s the shuffle board, maybe it’s just the other patrons. This place is not for everyone but we’ll be back for sure! Perhaps after a few more drinks I’ll find a way to justify bumping it up that extra star… Cheers

Cheers like atmosphere! Friendly people, inexpensive draft beer, pool and shuffleboard. I felt very comfortable here, considering I only knew the 2 people I showed up with. Definitely recommend this bar to others.

What an absolutely awful atmosphere. The drinks are cheap but the staff has such an attitude problem. My friend walked out the«wrong» door and had a bouncer jump down his throat calling him a «fucking moron». Our party of twelve walked out. If you want to be abused and disrespected then by all means give them your money. If you have a brain in your head, avoid this place like the plague. There are hundreds of other bars with much better service.

Johnny’s Tavern is the best bang for your buck in Boonton. Draft beers range from $ 1.50 — $ 3 everyday all day. Tuesday’s and Thursday’s $ 1 Bud Light or Coors Light depending on which night, bar pies $ 5(delicious), burgers, soft pretzels, fun and friendly atmosphere. And also one of the only regulation sized shuffle board tables in New Jersey! Might not be the fanciest place but definitely a great place to meet up with friends for a cold cheap brew and play some pool or shuffle board.

If fist pumping and club bangers just aren’t your thing you’re in luck. Johnny’s has had a bad rap but I’m here to set the story straight. Sure, maybe their bar tenders come off just bit rude, but hey with $ 7 pitchers who could complain. This place could really could be hit or miss sometimes but I’ve always managed to have a good time. You just never know what the night will have in store for you.

If you love dive bars, this is the place for you. Super cheap drafts($ 1.50) that can’t be beat within a 10 mile radius. Lots of tvs and neon beer signs, a pool table($ 1 or $ 2 per game), a shuffle board, game nights, and bar food from a toaster oven ranging from pizza to super pretzels to a bag of popcorn. Definitely not classy, but cheap and fun.

I ain’t no hillbilly whisperer… but I like this place. My bf dragged me and my stilettos there one night and now whenever it comes to ‘disappearing’ from the face of the Yepasphire to a dive place, this is where you’ll find me. Lots of locals. Drinks are strong and cheap. There won’t be an umbrella in the drink nor should you ask. Everyone is shwaisted. You gotta know someone or be more waisted then them to play pool. Hard core drinkers, firemen, locals. You can follow the crowd of drunks there or from there when they close and they don’t necessarily close on time. I get nostalgic about good ol’ highschool town of Pburg but forget once I drink myself silly! If you have appreciation for a place like this, then you won’t be disappointed.

Plan to feel like a country bumpkin. But it’s great lol. This place honestly makes you feel like you’re in Hickville — the crowd fits that description well, the lights aren’t dimmed, and lots of old dudes get wasted here. But it’s a super friendly atmosphere and sometimes you can get beer for under 2 bucks.

If you are not a local, expect to think«the service is insulting.»(so i have read and heard) the bartenders are very nice, they just aren’t conversationalists. many of them have been there for years, and some are family owners. besides the unfriendly façade, this place is legendary in Morris County. Hell, thier slogan is, «For the Coldest Beer in the Hemisphere.» They have a great jukebox, and a classic bar. Shuffle board and pool are staples. I think they still have fifty cent drafts. Try the bar pie(pizza) if you get hungry. this place is a dive, but worth a try for a night out with close friends. Great place to people watch.
