The let me have lunch even though they were losing till 4:30 and I walked in right when they were locking the door. Soup was fantastic and the chicken dish was not overly spiced.

Sooo yummy! Closest thing to authentic Thai in the area I’m sure. The flavors are amazing and the place has a cozy family vibe. Love!

The owner is very sweet and accommodating. The restaurant is spacious with two rooms of tables. I started off with the bean thread soup. It was delicious. A warm and inviting bowl of flavorful broth, ground chicken, black wood ear mushrooms with scallions and bean thread. My husband and I shared the Yum Nuur. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the serving size was huge. The beef was tender with just the right amount of spice. We also shared the Lard Preek. Whole sea bass that is conveniently deboned and deep fried with a flavorful sauce. We have been all over New Jersey in search of a decent Thai restaurant. We finally found it.

Great food great location, had Tom ka ghai soup and chicken massaman. Both had lots of spice and great flavor. One of my favorite Thai spots in the area

Oh boy. where do I start. We came in to place a take out order, and as soon as we enter the door, the lady starts yelling at us ’42 dolla’, and keeps repeating herself. We try to explain we hadn’t even placed an order yet, and that finally sunk in. I ordered Red Curry(with duck meat), or so I thought. About 20 minutes later, we pay for the meal(which was an outrageous $ 25) and walk out. When I get home excited for my thai dinner, I take a quick look and clearly recognize that they took the wrong order. It was duck on the bone with traces of red curry sauce, and about half a cup of stale rice. I was disspointed to say the least. Now for $ 25, regardless if the order was misheard, I generally have high hopes that the meal will be at least adequate. Besides the side dish, the duck itself was heavily overcooked, and appeared to contain more fat and grizzle than anything. Of course, duck has a good amount of fat, but my real point here is that the meal was just awful. I suggest checking out another Thai restaurant if you want anything prepared by an actual chef.

We had been meaning to try Thai Ping out for a while. This little local BYO looks like a throwback from the 70s from the exterior with a collection of live potted plants near the window. I half expected to find spider plants cradled in macramé hangers inside. It was slow with just a few tables full, but about what you would expect for a Monday. The interior with some Thai décor was OK. Nothing fancy, pretty much what you expect to find in Boonton. Downtown Boonton is a casual, laid back area, and most all of the restaurants on Main St. reflect this, including Thai Ping. Our wait person kindly explained that the medium-spiced dishes were pretty hot, which we appreciated. We ordered the dumplings as a starter. They were good. Nothing over-the-top, but not disappointing. Both my husband and I ordered the medium-spiced Tom Yum soup. I got shrimp and he ordered chicken. Both were excellent, full of that wonderful mélange of Thai flavors you would expect from Tom Yum. Mine had four nicely sized shrimp in it — not those tiny little shrimp. I enjoyed it and it was indeed quite hot and spicy as I had been warned. But hey, I like spicy, so I was a happy camper. I browsed through all of their pad entrees on the menu(which is extensive, by the way) and couldn’t find my favorite dish, Pad Kee Mao. I asked about it and they said they’d prepare it for me without hesitation. Happiness! My husband ordered Panang chicken curry. Both of our entrees were quite good. I absolutely love Pad Kee Mao and have ordered it at Thai restaurants around the U.S. I’ve also traveled to Bangkok, Thailand, so I know authentic Thai food when I taste it. These dishes were the real deal and quite delicious. The portions were decent, too. No complaints. The flavor of my Pad Kee Mao was superb. Spot on and very nicely balanced. Lots of veggies along with the rice noodles and chicken. My husband took a bite and loved it. I’m pretty sure that’s what he’ll order next time. The only downside to our experience was the service. This is why I give Thai Ping a rating of 3 instead of 4 stars. Friendly and helpful, but very slow. There were two women there and seriously, I’m sure they were doing all the cooking and waiting tables. Maybe they were short-handed or just skimped on the staff because it was a Monday evening. We were in no hurry so we didn’t mind as much as we usually would, and they were so pleasant with us, we didn’t feel like being«difficult» patrons. Our bill came to $ 50 which we didn’t think was bad for an appetizer, two nice bowls of delicious Tom Yum soup and two entrees. And again, no complaints about the portions. In fact, I had so much Pad Kee Mao I took half of it home. My husband, who is not a fan of leftovers, called«dibs» on it. This says a lot! We’ll be back to Thai Ping.

Location isn’t bad, but they were dead on a friday night. There were literally 3 tables there during the hr we dined. Staff is nice and décor is alright(what do you except from a thai place in Booton NJ?). We started with their Deluxe App Assortment for 2 — no comment, i guess the best were the dumplings. For entrée we tried the ½ crispy duck in red curry and chicken spicy noodles. we asked for mild as we were told it’s pretty spicy(but I can hold my spice), but it was crazy spicy! My lips were all red and irritated by the end of dinner. Anyway, I felt the place was OK, nothing compared to Thai places in NY, but considering this is NJ, i’m giving it a 3 star.

Was not impressed at all. I ordered pad preek(mild) w. Chicken and it was completely flavorless. My boyfriend ordered the pad Thai w. Chicken and it was absolutely disgusting. When we got there it was silent, no music-nothing. It felt like we were the first & only customers they had all day, and we were there around 7:30. I also feel their overpriced. Over all we had a bad experience. I will most likely never go back there or recommend it to anyone else.

Relatively bland as far as Thai food goes and particularly overpriced. Picked up two orders of Curry and Spring Rolls for $ 40!!! The service is far from exemplary. The spring rolls did not come with any dipping sauce and they charge $ 1 for a tiny, tiny container of brown rice. Don’t even think about delivery, $ 15 delivery charge! If the food was truly phenomenal the prices might be forgivable but this is far from it.

I’ve eaten here twice to be fair and found the food somewhere between poor and revolting each time. Had to give them a 2nd chance, since they’re right in town and I LOVE thai food, but return trip was worse than the first. Undercooked shrimp, tasteless curries and nasty service were on the menu the 2nd time, so we definitely won’t back.

My family has been coming here for years. This is a small family run Thai restaurant. The food is very authentic. Everything is well flavored, seasoned, and spiced just rice. They will gladly adjust the chilis to your request. The service is always excellent, friendly and conscientious. The food is flavorful and well done.

Two stars is a mercy measure. This place is the pits. I had an overly greasy dumpling to start. The service blows; I think she may have been the owner but a lady with glasses on the lower end of nose and over arched eyebrows came to my table seconds after I ordered an appetizer and insisted that I order dinner right now. I told her I’d like to wait and she informed me that they close at 9:30pm. It was only 8 at the time. She was pushy and really rude. When I later ordered the entrée, a version of pad Se ew, there were stacks of noodles stuck together and the tofu was fried and flavorless. Sub part food and awful service. To make matters worse, a mandatory tip was added that was more than the stated amount on the menu. Boo hoo. What a waste.

Authentic Thai food with extensive vegetarian menu choices. The food is always fresh and tasty. I visit this place once or twice a month and enjoy the treat. Make sure you do not order«spicy» unless you really mean it. Bring a bottle of wine and enjoy.

We’ve been going to Thai Ping for a few years now and their food has deteriorated quite drastically over the past year. They rely on the spice level to mask the lack of flavor in their food compared to other Thai places. Their food is typically spicier than most places, but it’s due to an overabundance of red chili flakes, not some exotic chilis or paste… anyone can add red pepper flakes on their food — I don’t need anyone to add that to my curries for me and call it spicy. If you get the curries, expect the chicken to be dry and chewy, the vegetables to be the same regardless of whether you get red or green curry(peas, red pepper, green pepper and a full can of bamboo shoots per entrée, which is just too much). The coconut milk was not creamy or flavorful, and the prices are higher than most.

So I’ll prefaces review by stating that we did takeout and food is always better served right from the kitchen. We had a various selection entrees including vegatable cashew v13, red pad phed v12, ma muang e14 and spicy noodle v20. The portions were a good size although we could have used more rice. The ingredients seemed fresh and healthy but I didn’t finish feeling like it was really good or had to have more. At $ 58 for takeout it’s certainly on the pricier side but I will return to try eating in the restaurant next time.

Had the best Thai meal I have ever had. Crispy duck Prik King. It was absolutely incredible. Perfectly crispy. Perfectly spiced and the jasmine rice is the perfect complement. Yummy. Coming back!

I decided on a recent day off that I was going to finally try Thai Ping… I’d heard so much about it and wanted to try it myself. When I arrived it was almost empty-about 1:30 so the lunch crowd was gone. Nice place, pleasant décor, menu was easy to figure out, and the server was very nice and helpful. So I started with the shrimp gyoza and Tom Kha Gai soup… and the waitress talked me I to a Thai iced tea. The gyoza was a new one for me and I liked it very much. I think I was expecting just some chopped shrimp in a fried wonton, but it seemed like it was ground and mixed with some tasty herbs and spices-really, really delicious. Absolutely loved them… though a word of warning-they came out HOT, burned my mouth on my first bite. The soup-the soup was similar in flavor than most other places, but what I LOVED about this soup is that I asked for medium spice and the waitress actually said to me «you understand Thai medium, right?» I responded with a «yes» and finally got the correct spiciness! not the watered down American spiciness. Soup was nose running good! For my main dish I ordered the Red Curry-medium again and with chicken. Portion size was very generous as I’ve usually gotten small servings at other Thai places. Bursting with flavors and excellent spiciness(glad I didn’t get spicy). I usually don’t like bell peppers, but this whole meal was done very well and I basically licked my plate. I’ll certainly be back to Thai Ping again because it was that good.

Ok, I have to give major props to this place for putting up with a horde of hungry Indians invading them on New Years Day. We basically went in there and rearranged the furniture about a million times until everyone was finally happy and they just stood back and let us do whatever we wanted. As far as the food goes, I think it was way overpriced for both quantity and quality. Most dishes were around $ 15 and seafood was about $ 18. We had the Tom Yum Soup, the Penang Curry, the Green Curry, Shrimp Pad Thai and… a chicken fried rice that I forget the name of. The Pad Thai was the best I’ve ever had. They had this tangy, spicy sauce that was really great and the balance of sweet and spicy was perfect. The shrimp were HUGE and perfectly cooked. On the other hand, both the curries were the worst I’ve ever had. That’s not to say that they were inedible. I’ve just had better. The green curry was watery and a bit too salty. The chicken pieces seemed like they had just been dropped in there last minute and were dry and flavorless unless you really mashed them into the gravy. The flavor of the Penang curry was better but it had the same issue with the chicken. The fried rice was very good. Not too greasy and a good flavor. The soup was also good, but nothing to write home about. The restaurant does mean business when they say«spicy» so be careful. I think of myself as being able to handle spice well and a medium was just perfect for me. I think spicy would have been tolerable but not quite as pleasant. All in all, a perfectly satisfactory experience, but I believe I will venture elsewhere for my Thai fix.

I happened to be in the area and stumbled into this place and what a pleasant surprise! The food was outstanding, much better than I expected. I ordered the chicken kang karee, which was fantastic. They gave me a delicious salad and I also ordered the spring rolls, which were also totally solid. If you are in the area, you should check this place out. You won’t be disappointed!
