A must stop in downtown Boonville. The tasting room manager Jill is a consummate professional and the ambiance of the tasting room is attractive. The wines are excellent values for the price and there are several restaurants within a 5 minute walk. My particular favorites are the Pinot Noir, Vini de Mendocino, Mendocino Coro and the Viognier. This is a great place to start your weekend day in the Anderson Valley.

Don’t miss Philo Ridge Vineyards tasting room right in the heart of Boonville. The people are super friendly — Heather and Fred, the owners, and Jill, the tasting room manager. We’ve been going for years and wouldn’t think of a trip to the Anderson Valley without stopping in to say«hi» and stock up on some of our favorites. I particularly like the Pinot Gris and the Zinfandel.

Philo Ridge wines are fabulous and this tasting room is a fun place to hang out. Jill knows her stuff, and always has a welcoming smile when I stop in for my wine by the glass. The owners are there frequently and are passionate and knowledgable when discussing their wines. Try the Viognier!

If you enjoy good wine and great people, and you are in Boonville, California, then you must stop in to the Philo Ridge Vineyards tasting room. First, Pinot Noir is the winemakers’, Fred Buonanno and Heather McKelvey’s, primary wine and their Pinot is amazing. However, they also make delicious Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Viognier, Zinfandel, and two red blends, Vino di Mendocino and Coro Mendocino. Second, they care about animals and the environment. Their wines are vegan, their winery is 100% solar and wind powered, and their tasting room is dog friendly(for well behaved dogs and owners). Third, Jill Derwinski is one of, if not the, best tasting room manager in California. So, you must stop in to meet Jill, sip some of Fred and Heather’s fabulous wines, and enjoy some quality time in Boonville.

The wine was yummy! My favorites were the Chardonnay and the Pinot Noir. The two golden retrievers behind the counter were so sweet. I love dog-friendly establishments! Brian was pouring and he was very friendly and knowledgable. We didn’t feel any pressure to buy anything so we bought two!

Take a stroll through the charming town of Boonville and you’ll find this gem tucked behind the bookstore. This is a great tasting room to visit if you love hand-crafted wines and sustainable farming practices. I especially love their Viognier — a wine you don’t encounter much in the area — as well as their other steel tank fermented whites and spread of voluptuous reds, including, of course, Pinot Noir. The tasting room staff are friendly, and if you’re lucky you’ll get the meet the owners who are incredibly warm and delighted to share lots of information about their wines. Whether you’re standing at the bar or soaking up the sun with your picnic on the patio, Philo Ridge Vineyards is a great place to spend some time while you’re in town.
