Thoroughly enjoyed. The reds especially. You won’t be disappointed with any of the reds. NOTHING Apple about them. Good to see a farmer/family adapting to the times and making a great product.

This is a fine winery and is exceptionally cute with beautiful grounds and a stunning facility with an exceptional view of pilot mountain. The tasting for me was only mediocre with only five wines available at the time that I didn’t feel were as good as the other nearby vinyards. It may be that their better wines had already sold out as they grow several varieties that were not available for tasting — I can’t say.

Overall 5⁄5 Drive-worthy? With so many wineries in the Yadkin Valley, know that this one definitely has to be on your list if you are headed out there. Enjoy the many varietals, talking to the owners, walking around the grounds, and possibly enjoying an event. If you are just wanting to try a very high quality NC though, definitely purchase some from Total Wine. Wine 5⁄5 Old tobacco farm(among other crops), and those interesting flavors are present in all of their wines, which are fine-crafted. They have a large selection of wine, and lots of variety, but most are bold. I would not take someone who does not drink a lot of wine. They have their blends in local restaurants, and total wine sells their other varietals: . Property/Views 5⁄5 Views of Pilot Mountain, nice barns throughout the vines, surrounded by quaint farmland. Owners/Workers 5⁄5 Retired husband and wife own the winery with quite the story of his 4-H cow days with RagApple Lassie(where the winery gets its name). If you sign up for their emails they will send you very funny email updates. Tour/Extras n/a We did not do a tour, but walked around taking in their modern art cow out front, the vines, and the Yadkin Valley plateaus. Though I’ve never been, they do many events here, and have a little guest house you can rent.

Our favorite winery in North Carolina. Excellent Merlot. They also sell the local Ashe County cheese which pairs perfectly with all of their wines here. Service is great for a tasting and at the café.

Just okay. Charged $ 1.50 a tasting and didn’t give you the glass. Bottles were $ 16-$ 26. Although the building and brand were unique, the hostess did not make any attempt to talk to use besides telling us about the wine.

Beautiful landscape. You can see Pilot Mtn. in the distance from the parking lot. This place is very clean and tidy. Not good for kids, but the owner was thoughtful enough to turn on Sponge Bob for my little ones while my wife and I tasted wine. The owner is a real nice down to earth guy. He helped us learn how to taste wine and gave us some nice locally made blue cheese. It costs $ 1.50 per taste which is not bad at all. They have a nice variety of about a dozen or so wines, from dry to sweet. They also have a small café in the back which offers catered dishes. I’ll have to try that next time. Located in East Bend. I agree with Sofia P., they do have a nice Chardonnay.

My favorite of the Yadkin Valley wineries! This place is unique, fun, enjoyable, and tasty. Upon pulling into the front lot of the winery, you know you’re in for a different experience as soon as you’re greeted by a metal statue of a cow, a spotted silo, a splendid view of Pilot Mountain, and a huge metal building that serves as the winery. Inside, it’s more of the same; funky and fun might be the best way to describe the décor. In addition to enjoying the establishment, the wine here is my favorite of all of the wineries I’ve been to in Yadkin Valley(all of NC actually). To add to the experience, the staff don’t just suggest pairings while you taste the wine, they actually give you food to try with the wine(blue cheese, chocolate). My favorites of the wine are the«First Blush» and«Hobson’s Choice,» but I enjoyed whatever touched my lips. When you visit, make a point to say hello to Frank, the very gracious and friendly owner; if you’re lucky, he’ll be pouring for you. His passion for what he does is as strong as his love for his pet cow that bears the winery’s namesake. In closing, the excellent wine and wonderfully unique setting combined with gracious hosts and live music made our trip to Rag Apple wonderful.

This is a fairly young vineyard, named after the owners’ prized winning cow. Their insignia isn’t very appealing(a cow sitting on a moon), but the wine is delicious. I was especially sold on their Chardonnay, which was like melted butter on the tongue. They have wine tastings and lots of free crackers along with a tour of the facility.
