Portland, ME
Great small town hardware and more shop. You can find a multitude of things from toasters to hoes. Heaters to canning pots. You can rent Dollies there as well. Screws and stuff, yes, plumbing items, yes, random bathroom items and repair stuff, again yes. The employees are great and it’s usually fun to chat for a bit. Check them out before you go to a big box store.

No matter who you are or when you stop in, you’ll be met by a friendly, knowledgeable member of the Grovers staff, who take great pride in helping you with your hardware/​houseware/​marine hardware needs.
The folks at this great old store always rise to a challenge as they sometimes put their cumulative knowledge together and demonstrate what seems to have all but vanished in America: small town customer service, where the customer feels important.
BTW, I’ve been a customer of Grovers for over than 50 years.

I’ve been going to Grover’s for over 40 years. Like my father before me, I look forward to starting house repair projects so I can go in to see the guys. In fact, it’s pretty much the only reason I ever go into town.

SOUTHWEST HBR, ME
This is an outstanding, full service hardware store for its size. Every square inch is thoughtfully stocked with items folks in town are likely to need. And, if they don’t have something, it will be ordered for PDQ delivery.
They provide addition services, such as screen repair and lamp repair, just to name two. They have an extensive paint selection and can copy colors from the major competitors.
They maintain incredible hours, opening early and staying open on Sat. afternoons plus Sunday AM. Their pricing is reasonable and competitive with the majors.
Their attitude is over the top helpful for every employee and the owner has done a wonderful job training all employees.
