We stayed in Room 3(Sweetness) and it has an incredibly comfortable bed. Donna the owner/innkeeper is very sweet and adds all the special little touches like a cheese platter in the afternoon, fresh baked cookies in the evening, and coffee or hot cider available at most times. Highly recommend the berry French toast. It was delicious and not too syrupy or sweet — excellent job by their chef. The location is another great aspect of the Inn. It is just over the footbridge into downtown Boothbay Harbor so you get the benefit of a short walk to everything without being in a crowd downtown. Clean room, convenient and highly recommend staying.

Everything Uncle A said is true, stayed in third floor room(Bliss) last year on our first visit to Maine, found The Atlantic Ark Inn by chance on web and loved every single thing about it. Hope to visit again. Highest marks on everything from reservation process with Donna, welcome when we arrived, food, location, friendliness in every encounter with each person there, delightful room and spa-like bath with those great harbor views-just perfect.

My wife and I have stayed here 4 times and we are planning on our 5th in the next couple of months. The rooms are very well decorated and appointed. We have stayed in Beauty(my favorite), Bliss(third floor) and Solitude(The Cottage — my wife’s favorite). There are no bad rooms at the Inn. The breakfast is excellent and the staff could not be more accommodating. The location of the Inn is on what I call the«quiet» side of the harbor — there are a couple if restaurants and a couple of other hotels, the lobster co-op and a church. The other side of the harbor(a quick walk across the footbridge) has the majority of restaurants and shops. Close enough to be convenient, but far enough away from the Inn so it isn’t crowded and noisy when you want to relax. All rooms have private bathrooms and the beds are exceptionally comfortable.

I can’t believe no one has reviewed this gem of a B&B, yet!!! I can’t take the credit for finding it, though. Kudos for my wife for ‘discovering’ it, making a reservation AND getting us a third-floor room with a fantastic view of the harbor! This place is great! From the moment we walked in the front door to the time we(reluctantly) pulled out of the parking lot to begin our trek homeward, we felt like we were old friends of the owner and staff. Hugs for Devon, Michelle and Donna for their knack in helping us to feel ‘at home’. Indoors and outside, the house and grounds are impeccably clean and well maintained YET comfy, cozy and very welcoming. My initial impression of the first-floor common spaces(living and dining rooms, kitchen, front porch) was that it ‘feels like Grandma’s house’. I half-expected to walk into the kitchen and encounter an older white-haired lady in an apron but instead, and even better, I was greeted by Devon, the extremely personable staff host. He offered that we were going to love our room as he lead us up through the second floor to the third-floor stairs. What he didn’t explain is that is close to ‘breathtaking’! Aptly named«Bliss», room 6 is on the front third floor of the house with windows beyond the foot of the bed that enable occupants to view the harbor while comfortably lying down on the über-comfy queen-sized four-poster bed. Both outside that window AND in a window box on the adjoining third-floor porch are window boxes with thriving geraniums and violets(I think). Also on the small porch are comfortable reproduction white wicker rockers to relax while pinching yourself that the view of the harbor beyond is real. The spacious tile-floored bathroom occupies a large three-sided dormer, is entered through French doors and features an amply-sized Jacuzzi whirlpool bathtub with a handheld shower wand. Plenty of double-hung windows throughout the bedroom and bathroom enable more-than-adequate ventilation with oceanside breezes but for those who prefer, the space is also equipped with an air conditioner. A short easy stroll from a footbridge that connects the Atlantic Ave-side to ‘downtown Boothbay Harbor’, we were grateful that we’d found accommodations a reasonable distance away from the noisier central area of activities. After a comfortable restful nights sleep(windows open, occasional nightsounds), we were greeted in the morning on the front porch by the ever-smiling Devon offering us mugs of freshly-brewed coffee. We were invited to sit at the porch table with two other guests(who were delightful, BTW) and Devon served a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit, quiche and fresh-out-of-the-oven banana bread. I HIGHLY recommend Atlantic Ark and can’t imagine that you will enjoy it any less than we did. My ONLY regret is that we had to leave and return home… to work(ugh!).
