Leaping Dog Art Studios

Took my son to a birthday party here and everyone had a great time. Jen, the owner, was great with the kids, too — gave them good pointers for creating their masterpieces on canvas. Most of the kids were under 8 years old, and kids that age can get loud and distracted and messy, but instructions were clear (and friendly) and it was fun leaving with a «real» painting. The artroom is functional, for sure, but also full of inspiring artsy/​crafty details — a great motivator.
You can take a class, or come for a party — adult (bring wine, if you want) or kids. We’ll be back!
An aside: A kid’s singing group/​choir was practicing In the studio next door, so it was nice to have the serenade. They were singing contemporary pop songs (Imagine Dragon’s «Radioactive» stands out because my little guy loves that song) in harmony. My son and his friends lamented the «lame» songs they have to sing in music class in school and were planning to talk to their teacher about the injustice!

What a great place! Even if you aren’t an artist, or aspiring one, this is the place to go if you just want to unleash your creativity in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. I’ve participated in a couple of painting parties and I couldn’t believe what I was able to create while relaxing with a glass of wine. Bring some friends and enjoy a night out just for you. And if you have kids, you can just drop them off and enjoy date night or some free time while your kids are perfectly entertained and being creative. Can’t say enough about this place. A great addition to our community.
